| 13 | And at the second visit Joseph made himself known to his brothers, and Joseph's family became known to Pharaoh. | καὶ ἐν τῷ δευτέρῳ ἀνεγνωρίσθη Ἰωσὴφ τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς αὐτοῦ, καὶ φανερὸν ἐγένετο τῷ Φαραὼ τὸ γένος Ἰωσήφ. | ||
| 14 | And Joseph sent and called to him Jacob his father and all his kindred, seventy-five souls; | ἀποστείλας δὲ Ἰωσὴφ μετεκαλέσατο Ἰακὼβ τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν συγγένειαν ἐν ψυχαῖς ἑβδομήκοντα πέντε, | ||
| 15 | and Jacob went down into Egypt. And he died, himself and our fathers, | καὶ κατέβη Ἰακὼβ εἰς Αἰγυπτον. καὶ ἐτελεύτησεν αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν, | ||
| 16 | and they were carried back to Shechem and laid in the tomb that Abraham had bought for a sum of silver from the sons of Hamor in Shechem. | καὶ μετετέθησαν εἰς Συχὲμ καὶ ἐτέθησαν ἐν τῷ μνήματι ᾧ ὠνήσατο Ἀβραὰμ τιμῆς ἀργυρίου παρὰ τῶν υἱῶν Ἑμμὼρ ἐν Συχέμ. | ||
| 17 | "But as the time of the promise drew near, which God had granted to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt | Καθὼς δὲ ἠγγιζεν ὁ χρόνος τῆς ἐπαγγελίας ἧς ὡμολόγησεν ὁ θεὸς τῷ Ἀβραάμ, ηὐξησεν ὁ λαὸς καὶ ἐπληθύνθη ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ, | ||
| 18 | till there arose another king who had not known Joseph. | ἀχρι οὗ ἀνέστη βασιλεὺς ἑτερος ὃς οὐκ ᾐδει τὸν Ἰωσήφ. | ||
| 19 | He dealt craftily with our race and forced our fathers to expose their infants, that they might not be kept alive. | οὗτος κατασοφισάμενος τὸ γένος ἡμῶν ἐκάκωσεν τοὺς πατέρας τοῦ ποιεῖν τὰ βρέφη ἐκθετα αὐτῶν εἰς τὸ μὴ ζῳογονεῖσθαι. | ||
| 20 | At this time Moses was born, and was beautiful before God. And he was brought up for three months in his father's house; | ἐν ᾧ καιρῷ ἐγεννήθη Μωϋσῆς, καὶ ἦν ἀστεῖος τῷ θεῷ· ὃς ἀνετράφη μῆνας τρεῖς ἐν τῷ οἰκῳ τοῦ πατρός· | ||
| 21 | and when he was exposed, Pharaoh's daughter adopted him and brought him up as her own son. | ἐκτεθέντος δὲ αὐτοῦ ἀνείλατο αὐτὸν ἡ θυγάτηρ Φαραὼ καὶ ἀνεθρέψατο αὐτὸν ἑαυτῇ εἰς υἱόν. | ||
| 22 | And Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and he was mighty in his words and deeds. | καὶ ἐπαιδεύθη Μωϋσῆς πάσῃ σοφίᾳ Αἰγυπτίων, ἦν δὲ δυνατὸς ἐν λόγοις καὶ ἐργοις αὐτοῦ. | ||
| 23 | "When he was forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren, the sons of Israel. | Ὡς δὲ ἐπληροῦτο αὐτῷ τεσσερακονταετὴς χρόνος, ἀνέβη ἐπὶ τὴν καρδίαν αὐτοῦ ἐπισκέψασθαι τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ τοὺς υἱοὺς Ἰσραήλ. | ||
| 24 | And seeing one of them being wronged, he defended the oppressed man and avenged him by striking the Egyptian. | καὶ ἰδών τινα ἀδικούμενον ἠμύνατο καὶ ἐποίησεν ἐκδίκησιν τῷ καταπονουμένῳ πατάξας τὸν Αἰγύπτιον. | ||
| 25 | He supposed that his brethren understood that God was giving them deliverance by his hand, but they did not understand. | ἐνόμιζεν δὲ συνιέναι τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς ὅτι ὁ θεὸς διὰ χειρὸς αὐτοῦ δίδωσιν σωτηρίαν αὐτοῖς, οἱ δὲ οὐ συνῆκαν. | ||
| 26 | And on the following day he appeared to them as they were quarreling and would have reconciled them, saying, 'Men, you are brethren, why do you wrong each other?' | τῇ τε ἐπιούσῃ ἡμέρᾳ ὠφθη αὐτοῖς μαχομένοις καὶ συνήλλασσεν αὐτοὺς εἰς εἰρήνην εἰπών, Ἀνδρες, ἀδελφοί ἐστε· ἵνατί ἀδικεῖτε ἀλλήλους; | ||

| 29 | At this retort Moses fled, and became an exile in the land of Midian, where he became the father of two sons. | ἐφυγεν δὲ Μωϋσῆς ἐν τῷ λόγῳ τούτῳ, καὶ ἐγένετο πάροικος ἐν γῇ Μαδιάμ, οὗ ἐγέννησεν υἱοὺς δύο. | ||

| 32 | 'I am the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham and of Isaac and of Jacob.' | 39 | Our fathers refused to obey him, but thrust him aside, and in their hearts they turned to Egypt, | ᾧ οὐκ ἠθέλησαν ὑπήκοοι γενέσθαι οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν ἀλλὰ ἀπώσαντο καὶ ἐστράφησαν ἐν ταῖς καρδίαις αὐτῶν εἰς Αἰγυπτον, | ||

So it was until the days of David, | ἣν καὶ εἰσήγαγον διαδεξάμενοι οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν μετὰ Ἰησοῦ ἐν τῇ κατασχέσει τῶν ἐθνῶν ὧν ἐξῶσεν ὁ θεὸς ἀπὸ προσώπου τῶν πατέρων ἡμῶν ἑως τῶν ἡμερῶν Δαυίδ, | ||
| 46 | who found favour in the sight of God and asked leave to find a habitation for the God of Jacob. | ὃς εὗρεν χάριν ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ᾐτήσατο εὑρεῖν σκήνωμα τῷ οἰκῳ Ἰακώβ. | ||
| 47 | But it was Solomon who built a house for him. | Σολομῶν δὲ οἰκοδόμησεν αὐτῷ οἶκον. | ||
| 48 | Yet the Most High does not dwell in houses made with hands; as the prophet says, | ἀλλ' οὐχ ὁ ὑψιστος ἐν χειροποιήτοις κατοικεῖ· καθὼς ὁ προφήτης λέγει, | ||
| 49 | 'Heaven is my throne, and earth my footstool. | 51 | "You stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did, so do you. | Σκληροτράχηλοι καὶ ἀπερίτμητοι καρδίαις καὶ τοῖς ὠσίν, ὑμεῖς ἀεὶ τῷ πνεύματι τῷ ἀγίῳ ἀντιπίπτετε, ὡς οἱ πατέρες ὑμῶν καὶ ὑμεῖς. | ||
| 52 | Which of the prophets did not your fathers persecute? And they killed those who announced beforehand the coming of the Righteous One, whom you have now betrayed and murdered, | τίνα τῶν προφητῶν οὐκ ἐδίωξαν οἱ πατέρες ὑμῶν; καὶ ἀπέκτειναν τοὺς προκαταγγείλαντας περὶ τῆς ἐλεύσεως τοῦ δικαίου οὗ νῦν ὑμεῖς προδόται καὶ φονεῖς ἐγένεσθε, | ||
| 53 | you who received the law as delivered by angels and did not keep it." | οἱτινες ἐλάβετε τὸν νόμον εἰς διαταγὰς ἀγγέλων, καὶ οὐκ ἐφυλάξατε. | ||

| 56 | and he said, "Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing at the right hand of God." | καὶ εἶπεν, Ἰδοὺ θεωρῶ τοὺς οὐρανοὺς διηνοιγμένους καὶ τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐκ δεξιῶν ἑστῶτα τοῦ θεοῦ. | ||
| 57 | But they cried out with a loud voice and stopped their ears and rushed together upon him. | κράξαντες δὲ φωνῇ μεγάλῃ συνέσχον τὰ ὦτα αὐτῶν, καὶ ὡρμησαν ὁμοθυμαδὸν ἐπ' αὐτόν, | ||
| 58 | Then they cast him out of the city and stoned him; and the witnesses laid down their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul. | καὶ ἐκβαλόντες ἐξω τῆς πόλεως ἐλιθοβόλουν. καὶ οἱ μάρτυρες ἀπέθεντο τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτῶν παρὰ τοὺς πόδας νεανίου καλου μένου Σαύλου. | ||
| 59 | And as they were stoning Stephen, he prayed, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." | καὶ ἐλιθοβόλουν τὸν Στέφανον ἐπικαλούμενον καὶ λέγοντα, Κύριε Ἰησοῦ, δέξαι τὸ πνεῦμά μου. | ||
