At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" | The Greatest in the Kingdom Mt.18.1-5 (Capernaum) - | Mk.9.33-37 | Lk.9.46-48 | Ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ὡρᾳ προσῆλθον οἱ μαθηταὶ τῷ Ἰησοῦ λέγοντες, Τίς ἀρα μείζων ἐστὶν ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τῶν οὐρανῶν; |

And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them, | | καὶ προσκαλεσάμενος παιδίον ἐστησεν αὐτὸ ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῶν |

and said, "Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. | | καὶ εἶπεν, Ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ἐὰν μὴ στραφῆτε καὶ γένησθε ὡς τὰ παιδία, οὐ μὴ εἰσέλθητε εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τῶν οὐρανῶν. |

Whoever humbles himself like this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. | | ὁστις οὖν ταπεινώσει ἑαυτὸν ὡς τὸ παιδίον τοῦτο, οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ μείζων ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τῶν οὐρανῶν. |

"Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me; | Temptations to Sin Mt.18.5-9 (Capernaum) - | Mk.9.42-48 | Lk.17.1-2 | καὶ ὃς ἐὰν δέξηται ἓν παιδίον τοιοῦτο ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματί μου, ἐμὲ δέχεται. |

but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened round his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea. | | Ὃς δ' ἂν σκανδαλίσῃ ἑνα τῶν μικρῶν τούτων τῶν πιστευόντων εἰς ἐμέ, συμφέρει αὐτῷ ἵνα κρεμασθῇ μύλος ὀνικὸς περὶ τὸν τράχηλον αὐτοῦ καὶ καταποντισθῇ ἐν τῷ πελάγει τη 'ς θαλάσσης. |

"Woe to the world for temptations to sin! For it is necessary that temptations come, but woe to the man by whom the temptation comes! | | οὐαὶ τῷ κόσμῳ ἀπὸ τῶν σκανδάλων· ἀνάγκη γὰρ ἐλθεῖν τὰ σκάνδαλα, πλὴν οὐαὶ τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ δῖ οὗ τὸ σκάνδαλον ἐρχεται. |

And if your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away; it is better for you to enter life maimed or lame than with two hands or two feet to be thrown into the eternal fire. | | Εἰ δὲ ἡ χείρ σου ἢ ὁ πούς σου σκανδαλίζει σε, ἐκκοψον αὐτὸν καὶ βάλε ἀπὸ σοῦ· καλόν σοί ἐστιν εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τὴν ζωὴν κυλλὸν ἢ χωλόν, ἢ δύο χεῖρας ἢ δύο πόδας ἐχοντ α βληθῆναι εἰς τὸ πῦρ τὸ αἰώνιον. |

And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it away; it is better for you to enter life with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into the hell of fire. | | καὶ εἰ ὁ ὀφθαλμός σου σκανδαλίζει σε, ἐξελε αὐτὸν καὶ βάλε ἀπὸ σοῦ· καλόν σοί ἐστιν μονόφθαλμον εἰς τὴν ζωὴν εἰσελθεῖν, ἢ δύο ὀφθαλμοὺς ἐχοντα βληθῆναι εἰς τὴν γέενναν τοῦ πυρός. |

"See that you do not despise one of these little ones; for I tell you that in heaven their angels always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven. | The Parable of the Lost Sheep Mt.18.10-14 (Capernaum) - | Lk.15.3-7 | Ὁρᾶτε μὴ καταφρονήσητε ἑνὸς τῶν μικρῶν τούτων· λέγω γὰρ ὑμῖν ὅτι οἱ ἀγγελοι αὐτῶν ἐν οὐρανοῖς διὰ παντὸς βλέπουσι τὸ πρόσωπον τοῦ πατρός μου τοῦ ἐν οὐρανοῖς. |

| | ῆλθεν γὰρ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου σῶσαι τὸ ἀπολωλός. |

What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray? | | Τί ὑμῖν δοκεῖ; ἐὰν γένηταί τινι ἀνθρώπῳ ἑκατὸν πρόβατα καὶ πλανηθῇ ἓν ἐξ αὐτῶν, οὐχὶ ἀφήσει τὰ ἐνενήκοντα ἐννέα ἐπὶ τὰ ὀρη καὶ πορευθεὶς ζητεῖ τὸ πλανώμενον; |
13 |
And if he finds it, truly, I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray. | | καὶ ἐὰν γένηται εὑρεῖν αὐτό, ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι χαίρει ἐπ' αὐτῷ μᾶλλον ἢ ἐπὶ τοῖς ἐνενήκοντα ἐννέα τοῖς μὴ πεπλανημένοις. |
14 |
So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish. | | οὑτως οὐκ ἐστιν θέλημα ἐμπροσθεν τοῦ πατρὸς ὑμῶν τοῦ ἐν οὐρανοῖς ἵνα ἀπόληται ἓν τῶν μικρῶν τούτων. |
15 |
"If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. | A Brother who Sins Mt.18.15-20 (Capernaum) - | Lk.17.3 | Ἐὰν δὲ ἀμαρτήσῃ ὁ ἀδελφός σου, ὑπαγε ἐλεγξον αὐτὸν μεταξὺ σοῦ καὶ αὐτοῦ μόνου. ἐάν σου ἀκούσῃ, ἐκέρδησας τὸν ἀδελφόν σου· |

But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every word may be confirmed by the evidence of two or three witnesses. | - confirmed by the evidence of two or three witnesses Mt.18.16 | Dt.19.15 | ἐὰν δὲ μὴ ἀκούσῃ, παράλαβε μετὰ σοῦ ἐτι ἑνα ἢ δύο, ἵνα ἐπὶ στόματος δύο μαρτύρων ἢ τριῶν σταθῇ πᾶν ῥῆμα· |

If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector. | | ἐὰν δὲ παρακούσῃ αὐτῶν, εἰπὲ τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ· ἐὰν δὲ καὶ τῆς ἐκκλησίας παρακούσῃ, ἐστω σοι ὡσπερ ὁ ἐθνικὸς καὶ ὁ τελώνης. |

Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. | | Ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ὁσα ἐὰν δήσητε ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἐσται δεδεμένα ἐν οὐρανῷ καὶ ὁσα ἐὰν λύσητε ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἐσται λελυμένα ἐν οὐρανῷ. |
19 |
Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. | | Πάλιν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐὰν δύο συμφωνήσωσιν ἐξ ὑμῶν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς περὶ παντὸς πράγματος οὗ ἐὰν αἰτήσωνται, γενήσεται αὐτοῖς παρὰ τοῦ πατρός μου τοῦ ἐν οὐρανοῖς. |
20 |
For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them." | | οὗ γάρ εἰσιν δύο ἢ τρεῖς συνηγμένοι εἰς τὸ ἐμὸν ὀνομα, ἐκεῖ εἰμι ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῶν. |
21 |
Then Peter came up and said to him, "Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?" | The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant Mt.18.21-35 (Capernaum) - | Τότε προσελθὼν ὁ Πέτρος εἶπεν αὐτῷ, Κύριε, ποσάκις ἀμαρτήσει εἰς ἐμὲ ὁ ἀδελφός μου καὶ ἀφήσω αὐτῷ; ἑως ἑπτάκις; |

Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you seven times, but seventy times seven. | | λέγει αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς, Οὐ λέγω σοι ἑως ἑπτάκις ἀλλὰ ἑως ἑβδομηκοντάκις ἑπτά. |
23 |
"Therefore the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his servants. | | Διὰ τοῦτο ὡμοιώθη ἡ βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν ἀνθρώπῳ βασιλεῖ ὃς ἠθέλησεν συνᾶραι λόγον μετὰ τῶν δούλων αὐτοῦ. |
24 |
When he began the reckoning, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents; | | ἀρξαμένου δὲ αὐτοῦ συναίρειν προσηνέχθη αὐτῷ εἷς ὀφειλέτης μυρίων ταλάντων. |
25 |
and as he could not pay, his lord ordered him to be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and payment to be made. | | μὴ ἐχοντος δὲ αὐτοῦ ἀποδοῦναι ἐκέλευσεν αὐτὸν ὁ κύριος πραθῆναι καὶ τὴν γυναῖκα καὶ τὰ τέκνα καὶ πάντα ὁσα ἐχει, καὶ ἀποδοθῆναι. |
26 |
So the servant fell on his knees, imploring him, 'Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay you everything.' | | πεσὼν οὖν ὁ δοῦλος προσεκύνει αὐτῷ λέγων, Μακροθύμησον ἐπ' ἐμοί, καὶ πάντα ἀποδώσω σοι. |
27 |
And out of pity for him the lord of that servant released him and forgave him the debt. | | σπλαγχνισθεὶς δὲ ὁ κύριος τοῦ δούλου ἐκείνου ἀπέλυσεν αὐτόν, καὶ τὸ δάνειον ἀφῆκεν αὐτῷ. |
28 |
But that same servant, as he went out, came upon one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii; and seizing him by the throat he said, 'Pay what you owe.' | | ἐξελθὼν δὲ ὁ δοῦλος ἐκεῖνος εὗρεν ἑνα τῶν συνδούλων αὐτοῦ ὃς ὠφειλεν αὐτῷ ἑκατὸν δηνάρια, καὶ κρατήσας αὐτὸν ἐπνιγεν λέγων, Ἀπόδος εἰ τι ὀφείλεις. |
29 |
So his fellow servant fell down and besought him, 'Have patience with me, and I will pay you.' | | πεσὼν οὖν ὁ σύνδουλος αὐτοῦ παρεκάλει αὐτὸν λέγων, Μακροθύμησον ἐπ' ἐμοί, καὶ ἀποδώσω σοι. |
30 |
He refused and went and put him in prison till he should pay the debt. | | ὁ δὲ οὐκ ἠθελεν, ἀλλὰ ἀπελθὼν ἐβαλεν αὐτὸν εἰς φυλακὴν ἑως ἀποδῷ τὸ ὀφειλόμενον. |
31 |
When his fellow servants saw what had taken place, they were greatly distressed, and they went and reported to their lord all that had taken place. | | ἰδόντες οὖν οἱ σύνδουλοι αὐτοῦ τὰ γενόμενα ἐλυπήθησαν σφόδρα, καὶ ἐλθόντες διεσάφησαν τῷ κυρίῳ ἑαυτῶν πάντα τὰ γενόμενα. |
32 |
Then his lord summoned him and said to him, 'You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you besought me; | | τότε προσκαλεσάμενος αὐτὸν ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ λέγει αὐτῷ, Δοῦλε πονηρέ, πᾶσαν τὴν ὀφειλὴν ἐκείνην ἀφῆκά σοι, ἐπεὶ παρεκάλεσάς με· |
33 |
and should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you? | | οὐκ ἐδει καὶ σὲ ἐλεῆσαι τὸν σύνδουλόν σου, ὡς κἀγὼ σὲ ἠλέησὰ; |
34 |
And in anger his lord delivered him to the jailers, till he should pay all his debt. | | καὶ ὀργισθεὶς ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ παρέδωκεν αὐτὸν τοῖς βασανισταῖς ἑως οὗ ἀποδῷ πᾶν τὸ ὀφειλόμενον. |
35 |
So also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart." | | Οὑτως καὶ ὁ πατήρ μου ὁ οὐράνιος ποιήσει ὑμῖν ἐὰν μὴ ἀφῆτε ἑκαστος τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ τῶν καρδιῶν ὑμῶν. |
