| 2 | The daughter of Dibon has gone up to the high places to weep; over Nebo and over Medeba Moab wails. On every head is baldness, every beard is shorn; | עָלָה הַבַּיִת וְדִיבֹן הַבָּמֹות לְבֶכִי עַל־נְבֹו וְעַל מֵידְבָא מֹואָב יְיֵלִיל בְּכָל־רֹאשָׁיו קָרְחָה כָּל־זָקָן גְּרוּעָה׃ | ||
| 3 | in the streets they gird on sackcloth; on the housetops and in the squares every one wails and melts in tears. | בְּחוּצֹתָיו חָגְרוּ שָׂק עַל גַּגֹּותֶיהָ וּבִרְחֹבֹתֶיהָ כֻּלֹּה יְיֵלִיל יֹרֵד בַּבֶּכִי׃ | ||
| 4 | Heshbon and Elealeh cry out, their voice is heard as far as Jahaz; therefore the armed men of Moab cry aloud; his soul trembles. | וַתִּזְעַק חֶשְׁבֹּון וְאֶלְעָלֵה עַד־יַהַץ נִשְׁמַע קֹולָם עַל־כֵּן חֲלֻצֵי מֹואָב יָרִיעוּ נַפְשֹׁו יָרְעָה לֹּו׃ | ||
| 5 | My heart cries out for Moab; his fugitives flee to Zoar, to Eglath-shelishiyah. For at the ascent of Luhith they go up weeping; on the road to Horonaim they raise a cry of destruction; | לִבִּי לְמֹואָב יִזְעָק בְּרִיחֶהָ עַד־צֹעַר עֶגְלַת שְׁלִשִׁיָּה כִּי מַעֲלֵה הַלּוּחִית בִּבְכִי יַעֲלֶה־בֹּו כִּי דֶּרֶךְ חֹורֹנַיִם זַעֲקַת־שֶׁבֶר יְעֹעֵרוּ׃ | ||
| 6 | the waters of Nimrim are a desolation; the grass is withered, the new growth fails, the verdure is no more. | כִּי־מֵי נִמְרִים מְשַׁמֹּות יִהְיוּ כִּי־יָבֵשׁ חָצִיר כָּלָה דֶשֶׁא יֶרֶק לֹא הָיָה׃ | ||
| 7 | Therefore the abundance they have gained and what they have laid up they carry away over the Brook of the Willows. | עַל־כֵּן יִתְרָה עָשָׂה וּפְקֻדָּתָם עַל נַחַל הָעֲרָבִים יִשָּׂאוּם׃ | ||
| 8 | For a cry has gone round the land of Moab; the wailing reaches to Eglaim, the wailing reaches to Beer-elim. | כִּי־הִקִּיפָה הַזְּעָקָה אֶת־גְּבוּל מֹואָב עַד־אֶגְלַיִם יִלְלָתָהּ וּבְאֵר אֵילִים יִלְלָתָהּ׃ | ||
| 9 | For the waters of Dibon are full of blood; yet I will bring upon Dibon even more, a lion for those of Moab who escape, for the remnant of the land. | כִּי מֵי דִימֹון מָלְאוּ דָם כִּי־אָשִׁית עַל־דִּימֹון נֹוסָפֹות לִפְלֵיטַת מֹואָב אַרְיֵה וְלִשְׁאֵרִית אֲדָמָה׃ | ||
