| 1 | Contend, O Yahweh, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me! | Help Me O Lord!. Psalm 35(v34) | רִיבָה יְהוָה אֶת־יְרִיבַי לְחַם אֶת־לֹחֲמָי׃ | |
| 2 | Take hold of shield and buckler, and rise for my help! | הַחֲזֵק מָגֵן וְצִנָּה וְקוּמָה בְּעֶזְרָתִי׃ | ||
| 3 | Draw the spear and javelin against my pursuers! Say to my soul, "I am your deliverance!" | וְהָרֵק חֲנִית וּסְגֹר לִקְרַאת רֹדְפָי אֱמֹר לְנַפְשִׁי יְשֻׁעָתֵךְ אָנִי׃ | ||
| 4 | Let them be put to shame and dishonour who seek after my life! Let them be turned back and confounded who devise evil against me! | יֵבֹשׁוּ וְיִכָּלְמוּ מְבַקְשֵׁי נַפְשִׁי יִסֹּגוּ אָחֹור וְיַחְפְּרוּ חֹשְׁבֵי רָעָתִי׃ | ||
| 5 | Let them be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of Yahweh driving them on! | יִהְיוּ כְּמֹץ לִפְנֵי־רוּחַ וּמַלְאַךְ יְהוָה דֹּוחֶה׃ | ||
| 6 | Let their way be dark and slippery, with the angel of Yahweh pursuing them! | יְהִי־דַרְכָּם חֹשֶׁךְ וַחֲלַקְלַקֹּות וּמַלְאַךְ יְהוָה רֹדְפָם׃ | ||
| 7 | For without cause they hid their net for me; without cause they dug a pit for my life. | כִּי־חִנָּם טָמְנוּ־לִי שַׁחַת רִשְׁתָּם חִנָּם חָפְרוּ לְנַפְשִׁי׃ | ||
| 8 | Let ruin come upon them unawares! And let the net which they hid ensnare them; let them fall therein to ruin! | תְּבֹואֵהוּ שֹׁואָה לֹא־יֵדָע וְרִשְׁתֹּו אֲשֶׁר־טָמַן תִּלְכְּדֹו בְּשֹׁואָה יִפָּל־בָּהּ׃ | ||
| 9 | Then my soul shall rejoice in Yahweh, exulting in his deliverance. | וְנַפְשִׁי תָּגִיל בַּיהוָה תָּשִׂישׂ בִּישׁוּעָתֹו׃ | ||
| 10 | All my bones shall say, " O Yahweh, who is like you, you who deliver the weak from him who is too strong for him, the weak and needy from him who despoils him?" | כָּל עַצְמֹותַי תֹּאמַרְנָה יְהוָה מִי כָמֹוךָ מַצִּיל עָנִי מֵחָזָק מִמֶּנּוּ וְעָנִי וְאֶבְיֹון מִגֹּזְלֹו׃ | ||
| 11 | Malicious witnesses rise up; they ask me of things that I know not. | יְקוּמוּן עֵדֵי חָמָס אֲשֶׁר לֹא־יָדַעְתִּי יִשְׁאָלוּנִי׃ | ||
| 12 | They requite me evil for good; my soul is forlorn. | יְשַׁלְּמוּנִי רָעָה תַּחַת טֹובָה שְׁכֹול לְנַפְשִׁי׃ | ||
| 13 | But I, when they were sick -I wore sackcloth, I afflicted myself with fasting. I prayed with head bowed on my bosom, | וַאֲנִי בַּחֲלֹותָם לְבוּשִׁי שָׂק עִנֵּיתִי בַצֹּום נַפְשִׁי וּתְפִלָּתִי עַל־חֵיקִי תָשׁוּב׃ | ||
| 14 | as though I grieved for my friend or my brother; I went about as one who laments his mother, bowed down and in mourning. | כְּרֵעַ־כְּאָח לִי הִתְהַלָּכְתִּי כַּאֲבֶל־אֵם קֹדֵר שַׁחֹותִי׃ | ||
| 15 | But at my stumbling they gathered in glee, they gathered together against me; cripples whom I knew not slandered me without ceasing; | וּבְצַלְעִי שָׂמְחוּ וְנֶאֱסָפוּ נֶאֶסְפוּ עָלַי נֵכִים וְלֹא יָדַעְתִּי קָרְעוּ וְלֹא־דָמּוּ׃ | ||
| 16 | they impiously mocked more and more, gnashing at me with their teeth. | בְּחַנְפֵי לַעֲגֵי מָעֹוג חָרֹק עָלַי שִׁנֵּימֹו׃ | ||
| 17 | How long, O Yahweh, will you look on? Rescue me from their ravages, my life from the lions! | אֲדֹנָי כַּמָּה תִּרְאֶה הָשִׁיבָה נַפְשִׁי מִשֹּׁאֵיהֶם מִכְּפִירִים יְחִידָתִי׃ | ||
| 18 | Then I will thank you in the great congregation; in the mighty throng I will praise you. | אֹודְךָ בְּקָהָל רָב בְּעַם עָצוּם אֲהַלְלֶךָּ׃ | ||
| 19 | Let not those rejoice over me who are wrongfully my foes, and let not those wink the eye who hate me without cause. | אַל־יִשְׂמְחוּ־לִי אֹיְבַי שֶׁקֶר שֹׂנְאַי חִנָּם יִקְרְצוּ־עָיִן׃ | ||
| 20 | For they do not speak peace, but against those who are quiet in the land they conceive words of deceit. | כִּי לֹא שָׁלֹום יְדַבֵּרוּ וְעַל רִגְעֵי־אֶרֶץ דִּבְרֵי מִרְמֹות יַחֲשֹׁבוּן׃ | ||
| 21 | They open wide their mouths against me; they say, "Aha, Aha! our eyes have seen it!" | וַיַּרְחִיבוּ עָלַי פִּיהֶם אָמְרוּ הֶאָח הֶאָח רָאֲתָה עֵינֵינוּ׃ | ||
| 22 | You have seen, O Yahweh; be not silent! O Yahweh, be not far from me! | רָאִיתָה יְהוָה אַל־תֶּחֱרַשׁ אֲדֹנָי אֲל־תִּרְחַק מִמֶּנִּי׃ | ||
| 23 | Bestir yourself, and awake for my right, for my cause, my God and my Yahweh! | הָעִירָה וְהָקִיצָה לְמִשְׁפָּטִי אֱלֹהַי וַאדֹנָי לְרִיבִי׃ | ||
| 24 | Vindicate me, O Yahweh, my God, according to your righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me! | שָׁפְטֵנִי כְצִדְקְךָ יְהוָה אֱלֹהָי וְאַל־יִשְׂמְחוּ־לִי׃ | ||
| 25 | Let them not say to themselves, "Aha, we have our heart's desire!" Let them not say, "We have swallowed him up." | אַל־יֹאמְרוּ בְלִבָּם הֶאָח נַפְשֵׁנוּ אַל־יֹאמְרוּ בִּלַּעֲנוּהוּ׃ | ||
| 26 | Let them be put to shame and confusion altogether who rejoice at my calamity! Let them be clothed with shame and dishonour who magnify themselves against me! | יֵבֹשׁוּ וְיַחְפְּרוּ יַחְדָּו שְׂמֵחֵי רָעָתִי יִלְבְּשׁוּ־בֹשֶׁת וּכְלִמָּה הַמַּגְדִּילִים עָלָי׃ | ||
| 27 | Let those who desire my vindication shout for joy and be glad, and say evermore, "Great is Yahweh, who delights in the welfare of his servant!" | יָרֹנּוּ וְיִשְׂמְחוּ חֲפֵצֵי צִדְקִי וְיֹאמְרוּ תָמִיד יִגְדַּל יְהוָה הֶחָפֵץ שְׁלֹום עַבְדֹּו׃ | ||
| 28 | Then my tongue shall tell of your righteousness and of your praise all the day long. | וּלְשֹׁונִי תֶּהְגֶּה צִדְקֶךָ כָּל־הַיֹּום תְּהִלָּתֶךָ׃ | ||
