1 The divisions of the door-keepers: Korahites: Meshelemiah son of Kore, son of Ebiasaph [son of Ebiasaph: prob. rdg, Heb from the sons of Asaph]. The temple Guard. 1Chr.26.1-19לְמַחְלְקֹות לְשֹׁעֲרִים לַקָּרְחִים מְשֶׁלֶמְיָהוּ בֶן־קֹרֵא מִן־בְּנֵי אָסָף׃
2 Sons of Meshelemiah: Zechariah the eldest, Jediael the second, Zebediah the third, Jathniel the fourth,  וְלִמְשֶׁלֶמְיָהוּ בָּנִים זְכַרְיָהוּ הַבְּכֹור יְדִיעֲאֵל הַשֵּׁנִי זְבַדְיָהוּ הַשְּׁלִישִׁי יַתְנִיאֵל הָרְבִיעִי׃
3 Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, Elioenai the seventh.  עֵילָם הַחֲמִישִׁי יְהֹוחָןָן הַשִּׁשִּׁי אֶלְיְהֹועֵינַי הַשְּׁבִיעִי׃
4 Sons of Obed-edom: Shemaiah the eldest, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sacar the fourth, Nethaneel the fifth,  וּלְעֹבֵד אֱדֹם בָּנִים שְׁמַעְיָה הַבְּכֹור יְהֹוזָבָד הַשֵּׁנִי יֹואָח הַשְּׁלִשִׁי וְשָׂכָר הָרְבִיעִי וּנְתַנְאֵל הַחֲמִישִׁי׃
5 Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peulthai the eighth (for God had blessed him).  עַמִּיאֵל הַשִּׁשִּׁי יִשָׂשכָר הַשְּׁבִיעִי פְּעֻלְּתַי הַשְּׁמִינִי כִּי בֵרֲכֹו אֱלֹהִים׃ ף
6 Shemaiah, his son, was the father of sons who had authority in their family, for they were men of great ability.  וְלִשְׁמַעְיָה בְנֹו נֹולַד בָּנִים הַמִּמְשָׁלִים לְבֵית אֲבִיהֶם כִּי־גִבֹּורֵי חַיִל הֵמָּה׃
7 Sons of Shemaiah: Othni, Rephael, Obed, Elzabad and his brothers Elihu and Semachiah, men of ability.  בְּנֵי שְׁמַעְיָה עָתְנִי וּרְפָאֵל וְעֹובֵד אֶלְזָבָד אֶחָיו בְּנֵי־חָיִל אֱלִיהוּ וּסְמַכְיָהוּ׃
8 All these belonged to the family of Obed-edom; they, their sons and brothers, were men of ability, fit for service in the temple; total: sixty-two.  כָּל־אֵלֶּה מִבְּנֵי עֹבֵד אֱדֹם הֵמָּה וּבְנֵיהֶם וַאֲחֵיהֶם אִישׁ־חַיִל בַּכֹּחַ לַעֲבֹדָה שִׁשִּׁים וּשְׁנַיִם לְעֹבֵד אֱדֹם׃
9 Sons and brothers of Meshelemiah, all men of ability, eighteen.  וְלִמְשֶׁלֶמְיָהוּ בָּנִים וְאַחִים בְּנֵי־חָיִל שְׁמֹונָה עָשָׂר׃ ס
10 Sons of Hosah, a Merarite: Shimri the chief (he was not the eldest, but his father had made him chief),  וּלְחֹסָה מִן־בְּנֵי־מְרָרִי בָּנִים שִׁמְרִי הָרֹאשׁ כִּי לֹא־הָיָה בְכֹור וַיְשִׂימֵהוּ אָבִיהוּ לְרֹאשׁ׃
11 Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth. Total of Hosah's sons and brothers: thirteen.

 חִלְקִיָּהוּ הַשֵּׁנִי טְבַלְיָהוּ הַשְּׁלִשִׁי זְכַרְיָהוּ הָרְבִעִי כָּל־בָּנִים וְאַחִים לְחֹסָה שְׁלֹשָׁה עָשָׂר׃
12 The male heads of families constituted the divisions of the door-keepers; their duty was to serve in the house of the LORD side by side with their kinsmen.  לְאֵלֶּה מַחְלְקֹות הַשֹּׁעֲרִים לְרָאשֵׁי הַגְּבָרִים מִשְׁמָרֹות לְעֻמַּת אֲחֵיהֶם לְשָׁרֵת בְּבֵית יְהוָה׃
13 Young and old, family by family, they cast lots for the gates.  וַיַּפִּילוּ גֹורָלֹות כַּקָּטֹן כַּגָּדֹול לְבֵית אֲבֹותָם לְשַׁעַר וָשָׁעַר׃ ף
14 The lot for the east gate fell to Shelemiah; then lots were cast for his son Zechariah, a prudent counsellor, and he was allotted the north gate.  וַיִּפֹּל הַגֹּורָל מִזְרָחָה לְשֶׁלֶמְיָהוּ וּזְכַרְיָהוּ בְנֹו יֹועֵץ בְּשֶׂכֶל הִפִּילוּ גֹּורָלֹות וַיֵּצֵא גֹורָלֹו צָפֹונָה׃ ס
15 To Obed-edom was allotted the south gate, and the gatehouse to his sons.  לְעֹבֵד אֱדֹם נֶגְבָּה וּלְבָנָיו בֵּית הָאֲסֻפִּים׃
16 Hosah [Hosah: prob. rdg, Heb Shuppim and Hosah] was allotted the west gate, together with the Shallecheth gate on the ascending causeway. Guard corresponded to guard.  לְשֻׁפִּים וּלְחֹסָה לַמַּעֲרָב עִם שַׁעַר שַׁלֶּכֶת בַּמְסִלָּה הָעֹולָה מִשְׁמָר לְעֻמַּת מִשְׁמָר׃
17 Six Levites were on duty daily on the east side, four on the north and four on the south, and two at each gatehouse;  לַמִּזְרָח הַלְוִיִּם שִׁשָּׁה לַצָּפֹונָה לַיֹּום אַרְבָּעָה לַנֶּגְבָּה לַיֹּום אַרְבָּעָה וְלָאֲסֻפִּים שְׁנַיִם שְׁנָיִם׃
18 at the western colonnade there were four at the causeway and two at the colonnade itself.  לַפַּרְבָּר לַמַּעֲרָב אַרְבָּעָה לַמְסִלָּה שְׁנַיִם לַפַּרְבָּר׃
19 These were the divisions of the door-keepers, Korahites and Merarites.

 אֵלֶּה מַחְלְקֹות הַשֹּׁעֲרִים לִבְנֵי הַקָּרְחִי וְלִבְנֵי מְרָרִי׃
20 Fellow-Levites were in charge of the stores of the house of God and of the stores of sacred gifts. Other temple duties. 1Chr.26.20-28וְהַלְוִיִּם אֲחִיָּה עַל־אֹוצְרֹות בֵּית הָאֱלֹהִים וּלְאֹצְרֹות הַקֳּדָשִׁים׃
21 Of the children of Laadan, descendants of the Gershonite line through Laadan, heads of families in the group of Laadan the Gershonite,  בְּנֵי לַעְדָּן בְּנֵי הַגֵּרְשֻׁנִּי לְלַעְדָּן רָאשֵׁי הָאָבֹות לְלַעְדָּן הַגֵּרְשֻׁנִּי יְחִיאֵלִי׃
22 Jehiel and [Jehiel and: prob. rdg, Heb Jehieli. The sons of Jehieli] his brothers Zetham and Joel were in charge of the stores of the house of the LORD.  בְּנֵי יְחִיאֵלִי זֵתָם וְיֹואֵל אָחִיו עַל־אֹצְרֹות בֵּית יְהוָה׃
23 Of the families of Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel,  לַעַמְרָמִי לַיִּצְהָרִי לַחֶבְרֹונִי לָעָזִּיאֵלִי׃
24 Shubael son of Gershom, son of Moses, was overseer of the stores.  וּשְׁבֻאֵל בֶּן־גֵּרְשֹׁום בֶּן־מֹשֶׁה נָגִיד עַל־הָאֹצָרֹות׃
25 The line of Eliezer his brother: his son Rehabiah, his son Isaiah, his son Joram, his son Zichri, and his son Shelomoth.  וְאֶחָיו לֶאֱלִיעֶזֶר רְחַבְיָהוּ בְנֹו וִישַׁעְיָהוּ בְנֹו וְיֹרָם בְּנֹו וְזִכְרִי בְנֹו [כ= וּשְׁלֹמֹות] [ק= וּשְׁלֹמִית] בְּנֹו׃
26 This Shelomoth and his kinsmen were in charge of all the stores of the sacred gifts dedicated by David the king, the heads of families, the officers over units of a thousand and a hundred, and other officers of the army.  הוּא שְׁלֹמֹות וְאֶחָיו עַל כָּל־אֹצְרֹות הַקֳּדָשִׁים אֲשֶׁר הִקְדִּישׁ דָּוִיד הַמֶּלֶךְ וְרָאשֵׁי הָאָבֹות לְשָׂרֵי־הָאֲלָפִים וְהַמֵּאֹות וְשָׂרֵי הַצָּבָא׃
27 They had dedicated some of the spoils taken in the wars for the upkeep of the house of the LORD.  מִן־הַמִּלְחָמֹות וּמִן־הַשָּׁלָל הִקְדִּישׁוּ לְחַזֵּק לְבֵית יְהוָה׃
28 Everything which Samuel the seer, Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah had dedicated, in short every sacred gift, was under the charge of Shelomoth and his kinsmen.  וְכֹל הַהִקְדִּישׁ שְׁמוּאֵל הָרֹאֶה וְשָׁאוּל בֶּן־קִישׁ וְאַבְנֵר בֶּן־נֵר וְיֹואָב בֶּן־צְרוּיָה כֹּל הַמַּקְדִּישׁ עַל יַד־שְׁלֹמִית וְאֶחָיו׃ ף
29 Of the family of Izhar, Kenaniah and his sons acted as clerks and magistrates in the secular affairs of Israel. Duties of other Levites. 1Chr.26.29-32לַיִּצְהָרִי כְּנַנְיָהוּ וּבָנָיו לַמְּלָאכָה הַחִיצֹונָה עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵל לְשֹׁטְרִים וּלְשֹׁפְטִים׃
30 Of the family of Hebron, Hashabiah and his kinsmen, men of ability to the number of seventeen hundred, had the oversight of Israel west of the Jordan, both in the work of the LORD and in the service of the king.  לַחֶבְרֹונִי חֲשַׁבְיָהוּ וְאֶחָיו בְּנֵי־חַיִל אֶלֶף וּשְׁבַע־מֵאֹות עַל פְּקֻדַּת יִשְׂרָאֵל מֵעֵבֶר לַיַּרְדֵּן מַעְרָבָה לְכֹל מְלֶאכֶת יְהוָה וְלַעֲבֹדַת הַמֶּלֶךְ׃
31 Also of the family of Hebron, Jeriah was the chief. (In the fortieth year of David's reign search was made in the family histories of the Hebronites, and men of great ability were found among them at Jazer in Gilead.)  לַחֶבְרֹונִי יְרִיָּה הָרֹאשׁ לַחֶבְרֹונִי לְתֹלְדֹתָיו לְאָבֹות בִּשְׁנַת הָאַרְבָּעִים לְמַלְכוּת דָּוִיד נִדְרָשׁוּ וַיִּמָּצֵא בָהֶם גִּבֹּורֵי חַיִל בְּיַעְזֵיר גִּלְעָד׃
32 His kinsmen, all men of ability, two thousand seven hundred of them, heads of families, were charged by King David with the oversight of the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, in religious and civil affairs alike.  וְאֶחָיו בְּנֵי־חַיִל אַלְפַּיִם וּשְׁבַע מֵאֹות רָאשֵׁי הָאָבֹות וַיַּפְקִידֵם דָּוִיד הַמֶּלֶךְ עַל־הָראוּבֵנִי וְהַגָּדִי וַחֲצִי שֵׁבֶט הַמְנַשִּׁי לְכָל־דְּבַר הָאֱלֹהִים וּדְבַר הַמֶּלֶךְ׃ ף
