And David perceived that Yahweh had established him king over Israel, and that his kingdom was highly exalted for the sake of his people Israel. | | וַיֵּדַע דָּוִיד כִּי־הֱכִינֹו יְהוָה לְמֶלֶךְ עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵל כִּי־נִשֵּׂאת לְמַעְלָה מַלְכוּתֹו בַּעֲבוּר עַמֹּו יִשְׂרָאֵל׃ ף |

And David took more wives in Jerusalem, and David begot more sons and daughters. | | וַיִּקַּח דָּוִיד עֹוד נָשִׁים בִּירוּשָׁלִָם וַיֹּולֶד דָּוִיד עֹוד בָּנִים וּבָנֹות׃ |

These are the names of the children whom he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon, | | וְאֵלֶּה שְׁמֹות הַיְלוּדִים אֲשֶׁר הָיוּ־לֹו בִּירוּשָׁלִָם שַׁמּוּעַ וְשֹׁובָב נָתָן וּשְׁלֹמֹה׃ |

Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet, | | וְיִבְחָר וֶאֱלִישׁוּעַ וְאֶלְפָּלֶט׃ |

Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, | | וְנֹגַהּ וְנֶפֶג וְיָפִיעַ׃ |

Elishama, Beeliada, and Eliphelet. | | וֶאֱלִישָׁמָע וּבְעֶלְיָדָע וֶאֱלִיפָלֶט׃ |

And David inquired of God, "Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you give them into my hand?" And Yahweh said to him, "Go up, and I will give them into your hand." | | וַיִּשְׁאַל דָּוִיד בֵּאלֹהִים לֵאמֹר הַאֶעֱלֶה עַל־[כ= פְּלִשְׁתִּיִּים] [ק= פְּלִשְׁתִּים] וּנְתַתָּם בְּיָדִי וַיֹּאמֶר לֹו יְהוָה עֲלֵה וּנְתַתִּים בְּיָדֶךָ׃ |

And he went up to Baal-perazim, and David defeated them there; and David said, "God has broken through my enemies by my hand, like a bursting flood." Therefore the name of that place is called Baal-perazim. | | וַיַּעֲלוּ בְּבַעַל־פְּרָצִים וַיַּכֵּם שָׁם דָּוִיד וַיֹּאמֶר דָּוִיד פָּרַץ הָאֱלֹהִים אֶת־אֹויְבַי בְּיָדִי כְּפֶרֶץ מָיִם עַל־כֵּן קָרְאוּ שֵׁם־הַמָּקֹום הַהוּא בַּעַל פְּרָצִים׃ |

And they left their gods there, and David gave command, and they were burned. | | וַיַּעַזְבוּ־שָׁם אֶת־אֱלֹהֵיהֶם וַיֹּאמֶר דָּוִיד וַיִּשָּׂרְפוּ בָּאֵשׁ׃ ף |

And the Philistines yet again made a raid in the valley. | | וַיֹּסִיפוּ עֹוד פְּלִשְׁתִּים וַיִּפְשְׁטוּ בָּעֵמֶק׃ |
| 14 |
And when David again inquired of God, God said to him, "You shall not go up after them; go around and come upon them opposite the balsam trees. | | וַיִּשְׁאַל עֹוד דָּוִיד בֵּאלֹהִים וַיֹּאמֶר לֹו הָאֱלֹהִים לֹא תַעֲלֶה אַחֲרֵיהֶם הָסֵב מֵעֲלֵיהֶם וּבָאתָ לָהֶם מִמּוּל הַבְּכָאִים׃ |
| 15 |
And when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, then go out to battle; for God has gone out before you to smite the army of the Philistines." | | וִיהִי כְּשָׁמְעֲךָ אֶת־קֹול הַצְּעָדָה בְּרָאשֵׁי הַבְּכָאִים אָז תֵּצֵא בַמִּלְחָמָה כִּי־יָצָא הָאֱלֹהִים לְפָנֶיךָ לְהַכֹּות אֶת־מַחֲנֵה פְלִשְׁתִּים׃ |
| 16 |
And David did as God commanded him, and they smote the Philistine army from Gibeon to Gezer. | | וַיַּעַשׂ דָּוִיד כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּהוּ הָאֱלֹהִים וַיַּכּוּ אֶת־מַחֲנֵה פְלִשְׁתִּים מִגִּבְעֹון וְעַד־גָּזְרָה׃ |
| 17 |
And the fame of David went out into all lands, and Yahweh brought the fear of him upon all nations. | | וַיֵּצֵא שֵׁם־דָּוִיד בְּכָל־הָאֲרָצֹות וַיהוָה נָתַן אֶת־פַּחְדֹּו עַל־כָּל־הַגֹּויִם׃ |
