| 2 | He said, "Yahweh is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer, | וַיֹּאמַר יְהוָה סַלְעִי וּמְצֻדָתִי וּמְפַלְטִי־לִי׃ | ||
| 3 | my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge, my saviour; you save me from violence. | אֱלֹהֵי צוּרִי אֶחֱסֶה־בֹּו מָגִנִּי וְקֶרֶן יִשְׁעִי מִשְׂגַּבִּי וּמְנוּסִי מֹשִׁעִי מֵחָמָס תֹּשִׁעֵנִי׃ | ||
| 4 | I call upon Yahweh, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies. | מְהֻלָּל אֶקְרָא יְהוָה וּמֵאֹיְבַי אִוָּשֵׁעַ׃ | ||
| 5 | "For the waves of death encompassed me, the torrents of perdition assailed me; | כִּי אֲפָפֻנִי מִשְׁבְּרֵי־מָוֶת נַחֲלֵי בְלִיַּעַל יְבַעֲתֻנִי׃ | ||
| 6 | the cords of Sheol entangled me, the snares of death confronted me. | חֶבְלֵי שְׁאֹול סַבֻּנִי קִדְּמֻנִי מֹקְשֵׁי־מָוֶת׃ | ||
| 7 | "In my distress I called upon Yahweh; to my God I called. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry came to his ears. | בַּצַּר־לִי אֶקְרָא יְהוָה וְאֶל־אֱלֹהַי אֶקְרָא וַיִּשְׁמַע מֵהֵיכָלֹו קֹולִי וְשַׁוְעָתִי בְּאָזְנָיו׃ | ||
| 8 | "Then the earth reeled and rocked; the foundations of the heavens trembled and quaked, because he was angry. | [כ= וַתְגָּעַשׁ] [ק= וַיִּתְגָּעַשׁ] וַתִּרְעַשׁ הָאָרֶץ מֹוסְדֹות הַשָּׁמַיִם יִרְגָּזוּ וַיִּתְגָּעֲשׁוּ כִּי־חָרָה לֹו׃ | ||
| 9 | Smoke went up from his nostrils, and devouring fire from his mouth; glowing coals flamed forth from him. | עָלָה עָשָׁן בְּאַפֹּו וְאֵשׁ מִפִּיו תֹּאכֵל גֶּחָלִים בָּעֲרוּ מִמֶּנּוּ׃ | ||
| 10 | He bowed the heavens, and came down; thick darkness was under his feet. | וַיֵּט שָׁמַיִם וַיֵּרַד וַעֲרָפֶל תַּחַת רַגְלָיו׃ | ||
| 11 | He rode on a cherub, and flew; he was seen upon the wings of the wind. | וַיִּרְכַּב עַל־כְּרוּב וַיָּעֹף וַיֵּרָא עַל־כַּנְפֵי־רוּחַ׃ | ||
| 12 | He made darkness around him his canopy, thick clouds, a gathering of water. | וַיָּשֶׁת חֹשֶׁךְ סְבִיבֹתָיו סֻכֹּות חַשְׁרַת־מַיִם עָבֵי שְׁחָקִים׃ | ||
| 13 | Out of the brightness before him coals of fire flamed forth. | מִנֹּגַהּ נֶגְדֹּו בָּעֲרוּ גַּחֲלֵי־אֵשׁ׃ | ||
| 14 | Yahweh thundered from heaven, and the Most High uttered his voice. | יַרְעֵם מִן־שָׁמַיִם יְהוָה וְעֶלְיֹון יִתֵּן קֹולֹו׃ | ||
| 15 | And he sent out arrows, and scattered them; lightning, and routed them. | וַיִּשְׁלַח חִצִּים וַיְפִיצֵם בָּרָק [כ= וַיְּהֻםֵּם] [ק= וַיָּהֹם]׃ | ||
| 16 | Then the channels of the sea were seen, the foundations of the world were laid bare, at the rebuke of Yahweh, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils. | וַיֵּרָאוּ אֲפִקֵי יָם יִגָּלוּ מֹסְדֹות תֵּבֵל בְּגַעֲרַת יְהוָה מִנִּשְׁמַת רוּחַ אַפֹּו׃ | ||
| 17 | "He reached from on high, he took me, he drew me out of many waters. | יִשְׁלַח מִמָּרֹום יִקָּחֵנִי יַמְשֵׁנִי מִמַּיִם רַבִּים׃ | ||
| 18 | He delivered me from my strong enemy, from those who hated me; for they were too mighty for me. | יַצִּילֵנִי מֵאֹיְבִי עָז מִשֹּׂנְאַי כִּי אָמְצוּ מִמֶּנִּי׃ | ||
| 19 | They came upon me in the day of my calamity; but Yahweh was my stay. | יְקַדְּמֻנִי בְּיֹום אֵידִי וַיְהִי יְהוָה מִשְׁעָן לִי׃ | ||
| 20 | He brought me forth into a broad place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me. | וַיֹּצֵא לַמֶּרְחָב אֹתִי יְחַלְּצֵנִי כִּי־חָפֵץ בִּי׃ | ||
| 21 | "Yahweh rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he recompensed me. | יִגְמְלֵנִי יְהוָה כְּצִדְקָתִי כְּבֹר יָדַי יָשִׁיב לִי׃ | ||
| 22 | For I have kept the ways of Yahweh, and have not wickedly departed from my God. | כִּי שָׁמַרְתִּי דַּרְכֵי יְהוָה וְלֹא רָשַׁעְתִּי מֵאֱלֹהָי׃ | ||
| 23 | For all his ordinances were before me, and from his statutes I did not turn aside. | כִּי כָל־[כ= מִשְׁפֹּטֹו] [ק= מִשְׁפָּטָיו] לְנֶגְדִּי וְחֻקֹּתָיו לֹא־אָסוּר מִמֶּנָּה׃ | ||
| 24 | I was blameless before him, and I kept myself from guilt. | וָאֶהְיֶה תָמִים לֹו וָאֶשְׁתַּמְּרָה מֵעֲוֹנִי׃ | ||
| 25 | Therefore Yahweh has recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to my cleanness in his sight. | וַיָּשֶׁב יְהוָה לִי כְּצִדְקָתִי כְּבֹרִי לְנֶגֶד עֵינָיו׃ | ||
| 26 | "With the loyal you show yourself loyal; with the blameless man you show yourself blameless; | עִם־חָסִיד תִּתְחַסָּד עִם־גִּבֹּור תָּמִים תִּתַּםָּם׃ | ||
| 27 | with the pure you show yourself pure, and with the crooked you show yourself perverse. | עִם־נָבָר תִּתָּבָר וְעִם־עִקֵּשׁ תִּתַּפָּל׃ | ||
| 28 | You deliver a humble people, but your eyes are upon the haughty to bring them down. | וְאֶת־עַם עָנִי תֹּושִׁיעַ וְעֵינֶיךָ עַל־רָמִים תַּשְׁפִּיל׃ | ||
| 29 | Yea, you are my lamp, O Yahweh, and my God lightens my darkness. | כִּי־אַתָּה נֵירִי יְהוָה וַיהוָה יַגִּיהַּ חָשְׁכִּי׃ | ||
| 30 | Yea, by you I can crush a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall. | כִּי בְכָה אָרוּץ גְּדוּד בֵּאלֹהַי אֲדַלֶּג־שׁוּר׃ | ||
| 31 | This God - his way is perfect; the promise of Yahweh proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him. | הָאֵל תָּמִים דַּרְכֹּו אִמְרַת יְהוָה צְרוּפָה מָגֵן הוּא לְכֹל הַחֹסִים בֹּו׃ | ||
| 32 | "For who is God, but Yahweh? And who is a rock, except our God? | כִּי מִי־אֵל מִבַּלְעֲדֵי יְהוָה וּמִי צוּר מִבַּלְעֲדֵי אֱלֹהֵינוּ׃ | ||
| 33 | This God is my strong refuge, and has made my way safe. | הָאֵל מָעוּזִּי חָיִל וַיַּתֵּר תָּמִים [כ= דַּרְכֹּו] [ק= דַּרְכִּי]׃ | ||
| 34 | He made my feet like hinds' feet, and set me secure on the heights. | מְשַׁוֶּה [כ= רַגְלָיו] [ק= רַגְלַי] כָּאַיָּלֹות וְעַל בָּמֹותַי יַעֲמִדֵנִי׃ | ||
| 35 | He trains my hands for war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze. | מְלַמֵּד יָדַי לַמִּלְחָמָה וְנִחַת קֶשֶׁת־נְחוּשָׁה זְרֹעֹתָי׃ | ||
| 36 | You have given me the shield of your salvation, and your help made me great. | וַתִּתֶּן־לִי מָגֵן יִשְׁעֶךָ וַעֲנֹתְךָ תַּרְבֵּנִי׃ | ||
| 37 | You gave a wide place for my steps under me, and my feet did not slip; | תַּרְחִיב צַעֲדִי תַּחְתֵּנִי וְלֹא מָעֲדוּ קַרְסֻלָּי׃ | ||
| 38 | I pursued my enemies and destroyed them, and did not turn back until they were consumed. | אֶרְדְּפָה אֹיְבַי וָאַשְׁמִידֵם וְלֹא אָשׁוּב עַד־כַּלֹּותָם׃ | ||
| 39 | I consumed them; I thrust them through, so that they did not rise; they fell under my feet. | וָאֲכַלֵּם וָאֶמְחָצֵם וְלֹא יְקוּמוּן וַיִּפְּלוּ תַּחַת רַגְלָי׃ | ||
| 40 | For you girded me with strength for the battle; you made my assailants sink under me. | וַתַּזְרֵנִי חַיִל לַמִּלְחָמָה תַּכְרִיעַ קָמַי תַּחְתֵּנִי׃ | ||
| 41 | You made my enemies turn their backs to me, those who hated me, and I destroyed them. | וְאֹיְבַי תַּתָּה לִּי עֹרֶף מְשַׂנְאַי וָאַצְמִיתֵם׃ | ||
| 42 | They looked, but there was none to save; they cried to Yahweh, but he did not answer them. | יִשְׁעוּ וְאֵין מֹשִׁיעַ אֶל־יְהוָה וְלֹא עָנָם׃ | ||
| 43 | I beat them fine as the dust of the earth, I crushed them and stamped them down like the mire of the streets. | וְאֶשְׁחָקֵם כַּעֲפַר־אָרֶץ כְּטִיט־חוּצֹות אֲדִקֵּם אֶרְקָעֵם׃ | ||
| 44 | "You delivered me from strife with the peoples; you kept me as the head of the nations; people whom I had not known served me. | וַתְּפַלְּטֵנִי מֵרִיבֵי עַמִּי תִּשְׁמְרֵנִי לְרֹאשׁ גֹּויִם עַם לֹא־יָדַעְתִּי יַעַבְדֻנִי׃ | ||
| 45 | Foreigners came cringing to me; as soon as they heard of me, they obeyed me. | בְּנֵי נֵכָר יִתְכַּחֲשׁוּ־לִי לִשְׁמֹועַ אֹזֶן יִשָּׁמְעוּ לִי׃ | ||
| 46 | Foreigners lost heart, and came trembling out of their fastnesses. | בְּנֵי נֵכָר יִבֹּלוּ וְיַחְגְּרוּ מִמִּסְגְּרֹותָם׃ | ||
| 47 | "Yahweh lives; and blessed be my rock, and exalted be my God, the rock of my salvation, | חַי־יְהוָה וּבָרוּךְ צוּרִי וְיָרֻם אֱלֹהֵי צוּר יִשְׁעִי׃ | ||
| 48 | the God who gave me vengeance and brought down peoples under me, | הָאֵל הַנֹּתֵן נְקָמֹת לִי וּמֹורִיד עַמִּים תַּחְתֵּנִי׃ | ||
| 49 | who brought me out from my enemies; you exalted me above my adversaries, you delivered me from men of violence. | וּמֹוצִיאִי מֵאֹיְבָי וּמִקָּמַי תְּרֹומְמֵנִי מֵאִישׁ חֲמָסִים תַּצִּילֵנִי׃ | ||
| 50 | "For this I will extol you, O Yahweh, among the nations, and sing praises to your name. | עַל־כֵּן אֹודְךָ יְהוָה בַּגֹּויִם וּלְשִׁמְךָ אֲזַמֵּר׃ | ||
