The sons of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan , Tubal, Meshech and Tiras. | | בְּנֵי יֶפֶת גֹּמֶר וּמָגֹוג וּמָדַי וְיָוָן וְתֻבָל וּמֶשֶׁךְ וְתִירָס׃ |

The sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, Riphath and Togarmah. | | וּבְנֵי גֹּמֶר אַשְׁכֲּנַז וְרִיפַת וְתֹגַרְמָה׃ |

The sons of Javan: Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim and Rodanim. | | וּבְנֵי יָוָן אֱלִישָׁה וְתַרְשִׁישׁ כִּתִּים וְדֹדָנִים׃ |

From these the peoples of the coasts and islands separated into their own countries, each with their own language, family by family, nation by nation. | | מֵאֵלֶּה נִפְרְדוּ אִיֵּי הַגֹּויִם בְּאַרְצֹתָם אִישׁ לִלְשֹׁנֹו לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם בְּגֹויֵהֶם׃ |

The sons of Ham: Cush, Mizraim , Put and Canaan. | | וּבְנֵי חָם כּוּשׁ וּמִצְרַיִם וּפוּט וּכְנָעַן׃ |

The sons of Cush: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah and Sabtecha. The sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan. | | וּבְנֵי כוּשׁ סְבָא וַחֲוִילָה וְסַבְתָּה וְרַעְמָה וְסַבְתְּכָא וּבְנֵי רַעְמָה שְׁבָא וּדְדָן׃ |

Cush was the father of Nimrod, who began to show himself a man of might on earth; | | וְכוּשׁ יָלַד אֶת־נִמְרֹד הוּא הֵחֵל לִהְיֹות גִּבֹּר בָּאָרֶץ׃ |

and he was a mighty hunter before the LORD, as the saying goes, 'Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the LORD.' | | הוּא־הָיָה גִבֹּר־צַיִד לִפְנֵי יְהוָה עַל־כֵּן יֵאָמַר כְּנִמְרֹד גִּבֹּור צַיִד לִפְנֵי יְהוָה׃ |

His kingdom in the beginning consisted of Babel, Erech, and Accad, all of them in the land of Shinar. | | וַתְּהִי רֵאשִׁית מַמְלַכְתֹּו בָּבֶל וְאֶרֶךְ וְאַכַּד וְכַלְנֵה בְּאֶרֶץ שִׁנְעָר׃ |

From that land he migrated to Asshur and built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah, and | | מִן־הָאָרֶץ הַהִוא יָצָא אַשּׁוּר וַיִּבֶן אֶת־נִינְוֵה וְאֶת־רְחֹבֹת עִיר וְאֶת־כָּלַח׃ |

Resen, a great city between Nineveh and Calah. | | וְאֶת־רֶסֶן בֵּין נִינְוֵה וּבֵין כָּלַח הִוא הָעִיר הַגְּדֹלָה׃ |

From Mizraim sprang the Lydians, Anamites, Lehabites, Naphtuhites, | | וּמִצְרַיִם יָלַד אֶת־לוּדִים וְאֶת־עֲנָמִים וְאֶת־לְהָבִים וְאֶת־נַפְתֻּחִים׃ |

Pathrusites, Casluhites, and the Caphtorites, from whom the Philistines were descended. | | וְאֶת־פַּתְרֻסִים וְאֶת־כַּסְלֻחִים אֲשֶׁר יָצְאוּ מִשָּׁם פְּלִשְׁתִּים וְאֶת־כַּפְתֹּרִים׃ ס |

Canaan was the father of Sidon, who was his eldest son, and Heth , | | וּכְנַעַן יָלַד אֶת־צִידֹן בְּכֹרֹו וְאֶת־חֵת׃ |
| 16 |
the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites, | | וְאֶת־הַיְבוּסִי וְאֶת־הָאֱמֹרִי וְאֵת הַגִּרְגָּשִׁי׃ |
| 17 |
the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites, | | וְאֶת־הַחִוִּי וְאֶת־הַעַרְקִי וְאֶת־הַסִּינִי׃ |
| 18 |
the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. Later the Canaanites spread, | | וְאֶת־הָאַרְוָדִי וְאֶת־הַצְּמָרִי וְאֶת־הַחֲמָתִי וְאַחַר נָפֹצוּ מִשְׁפְּחֹות הַכְּנַעֲנִי׃ |

and then the Canaanite border ran from Sidon towards Gerar all the way to Gaza; then all the way to Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboyim as far as Lasha. | | וַיְהִי גְּבוּל הַכְּנַעֲנִי מִצִּידֹן בֹּאֲכָה גְרָרָה עַד־עַזָּה בֹּאֲכָה סְדֹמָה וַעֲמֹרָה וְאַדְמָה וּצְבֹיִם עַד־לָשַׁע׃ |

These were the sons of Ham, by families and languages with their countries and nations. | | אֵלֶּה בְנֵי־חָם לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם לִלְשֹׁנֹתָם בְּאַרְצֹתָם בְּגֹויֵהֶם׃ ס |
| 21 |
Sons were born also to Shem, elder brother of Japheth, the ancestor of all the sons of Eber. | | וּלְשֵׁם יֻלַּד גַּם־הוּא אֲבִי כָּל־בְּנֵי־עֵבֶר אֲחִי יֶפֶת הַגָּדֹול׃ |

The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud and Aram. | | בְּנֵי שֵׁם עֵילָם וְאַשּׁוּר וְאַרְפַּכְשַׁד וְלוּד וַאֲרָם׃ |

The sons of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether and Mash. | | וּבְנֵי אֲרָם עוּץ וְחוּל וְגֶתֶר וָמַשׁ׃ |
| 24 |
Arphaxad was the father of Shelah, and Shelah the father of Eber. | | וְאַרְפַּכְשַׁד יָלַד אֶת־שָׁלַח וְשֶׁלַח יָלַד אֶת־עֵבֶר׃ |
| 25 |
Eber had two sons: one was named Peleg , because in his time the earth was divided; and his brother's name was Joktan. | | וּלְעֵבֶר יֻלַּד שְׁנֵי בָנִים שֵׁם הָאֶחָד פֶּלֶג כִּי בְיָמָיו נִפְלְגָה הָאָרֶץ וְשֵׁם אָחִיו יָקְטָן׃ |

Joktan was the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmoth, Jerah, | | וְיָקְטָן יָלַד אֶת־אַלְמֹודָד וְאֶת־שָׁלֶף וְאֶת־חֲצַרְמָוֶת וְאֶת־יָרַח׃ |

Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, | | וְאֶת־הֲדֹורָם וְאֶת־אוּזָל וְאֶת־דִּקְלָה׃ |
| 28 |
Obal, Abimael, Sheba, | | וְאֶת־עֹובָל וְאֶת־אֲבִימָאֵל וְאֶת־שְׁבָא׃ |
| 29 |
Ophir, Havilah and Jobab. All these were sons of Joktan. | | וְאֶת־אֹופִר וְאֶת־חֲוִילָה וְאֶת־יֹובָב כָּל־אֵלֶּה בְּנֵי יָקְטָן׃ |
| 30 |
They lived in the eastern hill-country, from Mesha all the way to Sephar. | | וַיְהִי מֹושָׁבָם מִמֵּשָׁא בֹּאֲכָה סְפָרָה הַר הַקֶּדֶם׃ |
| 31 |
These were the sons of Shem, by families and languages with their countries and nations. | | אֵלֶּה בְנֵי־שֵׁם לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם לִלְשֹׁנֹתָם בְּאַרְצֹתָם לְגֹויֵהֶם׃ |
| 32 |
These were the families of the sons of Noah according to their genealogies, nation by nation; and from them came the separate nations on earth after the flood. | | אֵלֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹת בְּנֵי־נֹחַ לְתֹולְדֹתָם בְּגֹויֵהֶם וּמֵאֵלֶּה נִפְרְדוּ הַגֹּויִם בָּאָרֶץ אַחַר הַמַּבּוּל׃ ף |
