katapi HOME The Healing of Two Blind Men - Mt.20.29-34  Mk.10.46-52  Lk.18.35-43     | NEB Books | notes

Matthew: 20
29As they were leaving Jericho he was followed by a great crowd of people. 30At the roadside sat two blind men. When they heard it said that Jesus was passing they shouted, 'Have pity on us. Son of David.' 31The people told them sharply to be quiet. But they shouted all the more, 'Sir, have pity on us, have pity on us, Son of David.' 32Jesus stopped and called the men. 'What do you want me to do for you?' 33he asked. 'Sir,' they answered, 'we want our sight.' 34Jesus was deeply moved, and touched their eyes. At once their sight came back, and they followed him.

Mark: 10
46They came to Jericho; and as he was leaving the town, with his disciples and a large crowd, Bartimaeus son of Timaeus, a blind beggar, was seated at the roadside. 47Hearing that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, 'Son of David, Jesus, have pity on me!' 48Many of the people rounded on him: 'Be quiet', they said; but he shouted all the more, 'Son of David, have pity on me.' 49Jesus stopped and said, 'Call him'; so they called the blind man and said, 'Take heart; stand up; he is calling you.' 50At that he threw off his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus. 51Jesus said to him, 'What do you want me to do for you?' 'Master,' the blind man answered, 'I want my sight back.' 52Jesus said to him, 'Go; your faith has cured you.' And at once he recovered his sight and followed him on the road.

Luke: 18
35As he approached Jericho a blind man sat at the roadside begging. 36Hearing a crowd going past, he asked what was happening. 37They told him, 'Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.' 38Then he shouted out, 'Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me.' 39The people in front told him to hold his tongue; but he called out all the more, 'Son of David, have pity on me.' 40Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. 41When he came up he asked him, 'What do you want me to do for you?' 'Sir, I want my sight back', he answered. 42Jesus said to him, 'Have back your sight; your faith has cured you.' 43He recovered his sight instantly; and he followed Jesus, praising God. And all the people gave praise to God for what they had seen.

Notes: The most generally known harmonies of the Gospels are based upon the Huck-Lietzmann Synopsis (1936) of the three gospels and Sparks' Synopsis (1964) of four gospels. Many of the passages in these harmonies are too short to display in a useful manner on a web-page.
The katapi New Study Bible Synopsis of the Gospels is based upon the headings displayed in the New Study Bible reference table which in turn follows the headings printed in the United Bible Societies' New Testament in Greek. These sections are more useful for bible study. Columns are arranged so that the first column is your chosen heading from the bible passage list (highlighted). The harmonies that follow across the web-page are then in the normally accepted order.
For Old Testament references quoted by New Testament authors, you should either go back to the passage listing web-page and select the link on the 'version' column; or click on the column heading and search through the chapter for the relevant passage; than select the OT passage from the reference column.
