21 ΚΑΤΑ ΛΟΥΚΑΝ Luke Reference

1Ἀναβλέψας δὲ εἶδεν τοὺς βάλλοντας εἰς τὸ γαζοφυλάκιον τὰ δῶρα αὐτῶν πλουσίους.He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury;The Widow's Offering Lk.21.1-4 | Mk.12.41-44 | [ Lk.21.1-4 → ]
2εἶδεν δέ τινα χήραν πενιχρὰν βάλλουσαν ἐκεῖ λεπτὰ δύο, and he saw a poor widow put in two copper coins. 
3καὶ εἶπεν, Ἀληθῶς λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἡ χήρα αὑτη ἡ πτωχὴ πλεῖον πάντων ἐβαλεν·And he said, "Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them; 
4πάντες γὰρ οὗτοι ἐκ τοῦ περισσεύοντος αὐτοῖς ἐβαλον εἰς τὰ δῶρα, αὑτη δὲ ἐκ τοῦ ὑστερήματος αὐτῆς πάντα τὸν βίον ὃν εἶχεν ἐβαλεν. for they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all the living that she had." 
5Καί τινων λεγόντων περὶ τοῦ ἱεροῦ, ὅτι λίθοις καλοῖς καὶ ἀναθήμασιν κεκόσμηται, εἶπεν, And as some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with noble stones and offerings, he said,The Destruction of the Temple Foretold Lk.21.5-6 | Mt.24.1-2 | Mk.13.1-2 | [ Lk.21.5-6 → ]
6Ταῦτα ἂ θεωρεῖτε, ἐλεύσονται ἡμέραι ἐν αἷς οὐκ ἀφεθήσεται λίθος ἐπὶ λίθῳ ὃς οὐ καταλυθήσεται. "As for these things which you see, the days will come when there shall not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down." 
7Ἐπηρώτησαν δὲ αὐτὸν λέγοντες, Διδάσκαλε, πότε οὖν ταῦτα ἐσται, καὶ τί τὸ σημεῖον ὁταν μέλλῃ ταῦτα γίνεσθαὶ; And they asked him, "Teacher, when will this be, and what will be the sign when this is about to take place?"Signs and Persecutions Lk.21.7-19 | Mt.24.3-14 | Mk.13.3-13 | [ Lk.21.7-19 → ]
8ὁ δὲ εἶπεν, βλέπετε μὴ πλανηθῆτε· πολλοὶ γὰρ ἐλεύσονται ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματί μου λέγοντες, Ἐγώ εἰμι· καί, Ὁ καιρὸς Ἤγγικεν· μὴ πορευθῆτε ὀπίσω αὐτῶν. And he said, "Take heed that you are not led astray; for many will come in my name, saying, 'I am he!' and, 'The time is at hand!' Do not go after them. 
9ὁταν δὲ ἀκούσητε πολέμους καὶ ἀκαταστασίας, μὴ πτοηθῆτε· δεῖ γὰρ ταῦτα γενέσθαι πρῶτον, ἀλλ' οὐκ εὐθέως τὸ τέλος. And when you hear of wars and tumults, do not be terrified; for this must first take place, but the end will not be at once." 
10Τότε ἐλεγεν αὐτοῖς, Ἐγερθήσεται ἐθνος ἐπ' ἐθνος καὶ βασιλεία ἐπὶ βασιλείαν, Then he said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; 
11σεισμοί τε μεγάλοι καὶ κατὰ τόπους λιμοὶ καὶ λοιμοὶ ἐσονται, φόβητρά τε καὶ ἀπ' οὐρανοῦ σημεῖα μεγάλα ἐσται. there will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences; and there will be terrors and great signs from heaven. 
12πρὸ δὲ τούτων πάντων ἐπιβαλοῦσιν ἐφ' ὑμᾶς τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῶν καὶ διώξουσιν, παραδιδόντες εἰς τὰς συναγωγὰς καὶ φυλακάς, ἀπαγομένους ἐπὶ βασιλεῖς καὶ ἡγεμόνας ἑνεκεν τοῦ ὀνο ματός μου· But before all this they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors for my name's sake. 
13ἀποβήσεται ὑμῖν εἰς μαρτύριον. This will be a time for you to bear testimony. 
14θέτε οὖν ἐν ταῖς καρδίαις ὑμῶν μὴ προμελετᾶν ἀπολογηθῆναι, Settle it therefore in your minds, not to meditate beforehand how to answer; 
15ἐγὼ γὰρ δώσω ὑμῖν στόμα καὶ σοφίαν ᾗ οὐ δυνήσονται ἀντιστῆναι ἢ ἀντειπεῖν ἀπαντες οἱ ἀντικείμενοι ὑμῖν. for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict. 
16παραδοθήσεσθε δὲ καὶ ὑπὸ γονέων καὶ ἀδελφῶν καὶ συγγενῶν καὶ φίλων, καὶ θανατώσουσιν ἐξ ὑμῶν, You will be delivered up even by parents and brothers and kinsmen and friends, and some of you they will put to death; 
17καὶ ἐσεσθε μισούμενοι ὑπὸ πάντων διὰ τὸ ὀνομά μου. you will be hated by all for my name's sake. 
18καὶ θρὶξ ἐκ τῆς κεφαλῆς ὑμῶν οὐ μὴ ἀπόληται. But not a hair of your head will perish. 
19ἐν τῇ ὑπομονῇ ὑμῶν κτήσασθε τὰς ψυχὰς ὑμῶν. By your endurance you will gain your lives. 
20Ὅταν δὲ ἰδητε κυκλουμένην ὑπὸ στρατοπέδων Ἰερουσαλήμ, τότε γνῶτε ὅτι Ἤγγικεν ἡ ἐρήμωσις αὐτῆς. "But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation has come near.The Destruction of Jerusalem Foretold Lk.21.20-24 | Mt.24.15-21 | Mk.13.14-19 | [ Lk.21.20-24 → ]

21τότε οἱ ἐν τῇ Ἰουδαίᾳ φευγέτωσαν εἰς τὰ ὀρη, καὶ οἱ ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῆς ἐκχωρείτωσαν, καὶ οἱ ἐν ταῖς χώραις μὴ εἰσερχέσθωσαν εἰς αὐτήν, Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, and let those who are inside the city depart, and let not those who are out in the country enter it; 
22ὁτι ἡμέραι ἐκδικήσεως αὗταί εἰσιν τοῦ πλησθῆναι πάντα τὰ γεγραμμένα. for these are days of vengeance, to fulfil all that is written. 
23οὐαὶ ταῖς ἐν γαστρὶ ἐχούσαις καὶ ταῖς θηλαζούσαις ἐν ἐκείναις ταῖς ἡμέραις· ἐσται γὰρ ἀνάγκη μεγάλη ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ ὀργὴ τῷ λαῷ τούτῳ, Alas for those who are with child and for those who give suck in those days! For great distress shall be upon the earth and wrath upon this people; 
24καὶ πεσοῦνται στόματι μαχαίρης καὶ αἰχμαλωτισθήσονται εἰς τὰ ἐθνη πάντα, καὶ Ἰερουσαλὴμ ἐσται πατουμένη ὑπὸ ἐθνῶν, ἀχρι οὗ πληρωθῶσιν καιροὶ ἐθνῶν. they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led captive among all nations; and Jerusalem will be trodden down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. 
25Καὶ ἐσονται σημεῖα ἐν ἡλίῳ καὶ σελήνῃ καὶ ἀστροις, καὶ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς συνοχὴ ἐθνῶν ἐν ἀπορίᾳ ἠχους θαλάσσης καὶ σάλου, "And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and upon the earth distress of nations in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves,The Coming of the Son of Man Lk.21.25-28 | Mt.24.29-31 | Mk.13.24-37 | [ Lk.21.25-28 → ]

26ἀποψυχόντων ἀνθρώπων ἀπὸ φόβου καὶ προσδοκίας τῶν ἐπερχομένων τῇ οἰκουμένῃ, αἱ γὰρ δυνάμεις τῶν οὐρανῶν σαλευθήσονται. men fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.- For the powers of the heavens will be shaken Lk.21.26 | Is.34.4

27καὶ τότε ὀψονται τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐρχόμενον ἐν νεφέλῃ μετὰ δυνάμεως καὶ δόξης πολλῆς. And then they will see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.- the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory Lk.21.27 | Dn.7.13

28ἀρχομένων δὲ τούτων γίνεσθαι ἀνακύψατε καὶ ἐπάρατε τὰς κεφαλὰς ὑμῶν, διότι ἐγγίζει ἡ ἀπολύτρωσις ὑμῶν. Now when these things begin to take place, look up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near." 
29Καὶ εἶπεν παραβολὴν αὐτοῖς· Ἴδετε τὴν συκῆν καὶ πάντα τὰ δένδρα· And he told them a parable: "Look at the fig tree, and all the trees;The Lesson of the Fig Tree Lk.21.29-33 | Mt.24.32-35 | Mk.13.28-31 | [ Lk.21.29-33 → ]

30ὁταν προβάλωσιν ἠδη, βλέποντες ἀφ' ἑαυτῶν γινώσκετε ὅτι ἠδη ἐγγὺς τὸ θέρος ἐστίν· as soon as they come out in leaf, you see for yourselves and know that the summer is already near. 
31οὑτως καὶ ὑμεῖς, ὁταν ἰδητε ταῦτα γινόμενα, γινώσκετε ὅτι ἐγγύς ἐστιν ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ. So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near. 
32ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐ μὴ παρέλθῃ ἡ γενεὰ αὑτη ἑως ἂν πάντα γένηται. Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away till all has taken place. 
33ὁ οὐρανὸς καὶ ἡ γῆ παρελεύσονται, οἱ δὲ λόγοι μου οὐ μὴ παρελεύσονται. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. 
34Προσέχετε δὲ ἑαυτοῖς μήποτε βαρηθῶσιν ὑμῶν αἱ καρδίαι ἐν κραιπάλῃ καὶ μέθῃ καὶ μερίμναις βιωτικαῖς, καὶ ἐπιστῇ ἐφ' ὑμᾶς αἰφνίδιος ἡ ἡμέρα ἐκείνη· "But take heed to yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a snare;Exhortation to Watch Lk.21.34-38

35ὡς παγὶς. ἐπεισελεύσεται γὰρ ἐπὶ πάντας τοὺς καθημένους ἐπὶ πρόσωπον πάσης τῆς γῆς. for it will come upon all who dwell upon the face of the whole earth. 
36ἀγρυπνεῖτε δὲ ἐν παντὶ καιρῷ δεόμενοι ἵνα κατισχύσητε ἐκφυγεῖν ταῦτα πάντα τὰ μέλλοντα γίνεσθαι, καὶ σταθῆναι ἐμπροσθεν τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου. But watch at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that will take place, and to stand before the Son of man." 
37Ἦν δὲ τὰς ἡμέρας ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ διδάσκων, τὰς δὲ νύκτας ἐξερχόμενος ηὐλίζετο εἰς τὸ ὀρος τὸ καλούμενον Ἐλαιῶν· And every day he was teaching in the temple, but at night he went out and lodged on the mount called Olivet. 
38καὶ πᾶς ὁ λαὸς ὠρθριζεν πρὸς αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ ἀκούειν αὐτοῦ. And early in the morning all the people came to him in the temple to hear him.
