Εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ, Ἀνένδεκτόν ἐστιν τοῦ τὰ σκάνδαλα μὴ ἐλθεῖν, πλὴν οὐαὶ δῖ οὗ ἐρχεται· And he said to his disciples, "Temptations to sin are sure to come; but woe to him by whom they come!Some Sayings of Jesus Lk.17.1-10 | Mt.18.6-7 | Mt.18.21-22 | Mk.9.42 | [ Lk.17.1-10 → ]
It would be better for him if a millstone were hung round his neck and he were cast into the sea, than that he should cause one of these little ones to sin.
προσέχετε ἑαυτοῖς. ἐὰν ἀμάρτῃ ὁ ἀδελφός σου ἐπιτίμησον αὐτῷ, καὶ ἐὰν μετανοήσῃ ἀφες αὐτῷ· Take heed to yourselves; if your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him;
καὶ ἐὰν ἑπτάκις τῆς ἡμέρας ἀμαρτήσῃ εἰς σὲ καὶ ἑπτάκις ἐπιστρέψῃ πρὸς σὲ λέγων, Μετανοῶ, ἀφήσεις αὐτῷ. and if he sins against you seven times in the day, and turns to you seven times, and says, 'I repent,' you must forgive him."
The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!"
And the Lord said, "If you had faith as a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this sycamine tree, 'Be rooted up, and be planted in the sea,' and it would obey you.
Τίς δὲ ἐξ ὑμῶν δοῦλον ἐχων ἀροτριῶντα ἢ ποιμαίνοντα, ὃς εἰσελθόντι ἐκ τοῦ ἀγροῦ ἐρεῖ αὐτῷ, Εὐθέως παρελθὼν ἀνάπεσε, "Will anyone of you, who has a servant plowing or keeping sheep, say to him when he has come in from the field, 'Come at once and sit down at table'?
ἀλλ' οὐχὶ ἐρεῖ αὐτῷ, Ἑτοίμασον τί δειπνήσω, καὶ περιζωσάμενος διακόνει μοι ἑως φάγω καὶ πίω, καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα φάγεσαι καὶ πίεσαι σύ; Will he not rather say to him, 'Prepare supper for me, and gird yourself and serve me, till I eat and drink; and afterward you shall eat and drink'?
μὴ ἐχει χάριν τῷ δούλῳ ὅτι ἐποίησεν τὰ διαταχθέντὰ; Does he thank the servant because he did what was commanded?
So you also, when you have done all that is commanded you, say, 'We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty.'"
On the way to Jerusalem he was passing along between Sama'ria and Galilee.The Cleansing of Ten Lepers Lk.17.11-19

καὶ εἰσερχομένου αὐτοῦ εἰς τινα κώμην ἀπήντησαν [αὐτῷ] δέκα λεπροὶ ἀνδρες, οἳ ἐστησαν πόρρωθεν, And as he entered a village, he was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance
καὶ αὐτοὶ ἦραν φωνὴν λέγοντες, Ἰησοῦ ἐπιστάτα, ἐλέησον ἡμᾶς. and lifted up their voices and said, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us."
When he saw them he said to them, "Go and show yourselves to the priests." And as they went they were cleansed.
εἷς δὲ ἐξ αὐτῶν, ἰδὼν ὅτι ἰάθη, ὑπέστρεψεν μετὰ φωνῆς μεγάλης δοξάζων τὸν θεόν, Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice;
καὶ ἐπεσεν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον παρὰ τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ εὐχαριστῶν αὐτῷ· καὶ αὐτὸς ἦν Σαμαρίτης. and he fell on his face at Jesus' feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan.
ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν, Οὐχὶ οἱ δέκα ἐκαθαρίσθησαν; οἱ δὲ ἐννέα ποῦ; Then said Jesus, "Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine?
οὐχ εὑρέθησαν ὑποστρέψαντες δοῦναι δόξαν τῷ θεῷ εἰ μὴ ὁ ἀλλογενὴς οὗτος; Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?"
And he said to him, "Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well."
Ἐπερωτηθεὶς δὲ ὑπὸ τῶν Φαρισαίων πότε ἐρχεται ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ ἀπεκρίθη αὐτοῖς καὶ εἶπεν, Οὐκ ἐρχεται ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ μετὰ παρατηρήσεως, Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God was coming, he answered them, "The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed;The Coming of the Kingdom Lk.17.20-37 | Mt.24.23-28 | Mt.24.37-41 | [ Lk.17.20-37 → ]

οὐδὲ ἐροῦσιν, Ἰδοὺ ὧδε· ἠ, ἐκεῖ· ἰδοὺ γὰρ ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ ἐντὸς ὑμῶν ἐστιν. nor will they say, 'Lo, here it is!' or 'There!' for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you."
And he said to the disciples, "The days are coming when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and you will not see it.
And they will say to you, 'Lo, there!' [or] 'Lo, here!' Do not go, do not follow them.

For as the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of man be in his day.

But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.
καὶ καθὼς ἐγένετο ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις Νῶε, οὑτως ἐσται καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου· As it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days of the Son of man.The Unknown Day and Hour Lk.17.26-30 | Mt.24.36-44 | Mk.13.32-37 | Lk.17.34-36 | [ Lk.17.26-30 → ]

ὁμοίως καθὼς ἐγένετο ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις λώτ· ἠσθιον, ἐπινον, ἠγόραζον, ἐπώλουν, ἐφύτευον, ᾠκοδόμουν· Likewise as it was in the days of Lot - they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built,
ᾗ δὲ ἡμέρᾳ ἐξῆλθεν Λὼτ ἀπὸ Σοδόμων, ἐβρεξεν πῦρ καὶ θεῖον ἀπ' οὐρανοῦ καὶ ἀπώλεσεν πάντας. but on the day when Lot went out from Sodom fire and sulphur rained from heaven and destroyed them all -

On that day, let him who is on the housetop, with his goods in the house, not come down to take them away; and likewise let him who is in the field not turn back.
Remember Lot's wife.
Whoever seeks to gain his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will preserve it.
