| Ὑμεῖς δέ, ἀγαπητοί, μνήσθητε τῶν ῥημάτων τῶν προειρημένων ὑπὸ τῶν ἀποστόλων τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ· |
But you must remember, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; | Warnings and Exhortations Jd.1.17-23 |
| ὁτι ἐλεγον ὑμῖν [ὁτι] Ἐπ' ἐσχάτου [τοῦ] χρόνου ἐσονται ἐμπαῖκται κατὰ τὰς ἑαυτῶν ἐπιθυμίας πορευόμενοι τῶν ἀσεβειῶν. |
they said to you, "In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions." | |
| Οὗτοί εἰσιν οἱ ἀποδιορίζοντες, ψυχικοί, Πνεῦμα μὴ ἐχοντες. |
It is these who set up divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit. | |
| ὑμεῖς δέ, ἀγαπητοί, ἐποικοδομοῦντες ἑαυτοὺς τῇ ἀγιωτάτῃ ὑμῶν πίστει, ἐν πνεύματι ἀγίῳ προσευχόμενοι, |
But you, beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy faith; pray in the Holy Spirit; | |
| ἑαυτοὺς ἐν ἀγάπῃ θεοῦ τηρήσατε, προσδεχόμενοι τὸ ἐλεος τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ εἰς ζωὴν αἰώνιον. |
keep yourselves in the love of God; wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. | |
| καὶ οὓς μὲν ἐλεᾶτε διακρινομένους, |
And convince some, who doubt; | |
| οὓς δὲ σῴζετε ἐκ πυρὸς ἀρπάζοντες, οὓς δὲ ἐλεᾶτε ἐν φόβῳ, μισοῦντες καὶ τὸν ἀπὸ τῆς σαρκὸς ἐσπιλωμένον χιτῶνα. |
save some, by snatching them out of the fire; on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. | |
