Ἰησοῦς δὲ πλήρης πνεύματος ἀγίου ὑπέστρεψεν ἀπὸ τοῦ Ἰορδάνου, The Temptation of Jesus Lk.4.1-13 | Mt.4.1-11 | Mk.1.12-13And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan,
καὶ οὐκ ἐφαγεν οὐδὲν ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις, καὶ συντελεσθεισῶν αὐτῶν ἐπείνασεν.  and was led by the Spirit (2) for forty days in the wilderness, tempted by the devil. And he ate nothing in those days; and when they were ended, he was hungry.
The devil said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread."
- Man shall not live by bread alone Lk.4.4 | Dt.8.3And Jesus answered him, "It is written,
'Man shall not live by bread alone.'"
Καὶ ἀναγαγὼν αὐτὸν ἐδειξεν αὐτῷ πάσας τὰς βασιλείας τῆς οἰκουμένης ἐν στιγμῇ χρόνου·  And the devil took him up, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time,
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὁ διάβολος, Σοὶ δώσω τὴν ἐξουσίαν ταύτην ἀπασαν καὶ τὴν δόξαν αὐτῶν, ὅτι ἐμοὶ παραδέδοται καὶ ᾧ ἐὰν θέλω δίδωμι αὐτήν·  and said to him, "To you I will give all this authority and their glory; for it has been delivered to me, and I give it to whom I will.
If you, then, will worship me, it shall all be yours."
- You shall worship the Lord your God Lk.4.8 | Dt.6.13-14And Jesus answered him, "It is written,
'You shall worship the Lord your God,
and him only shall you serve.'"
Ἤγαγεν δὲ αὐτὸν εἰς Ἰερουσαλὴμ καὶ ἐστησεν ἐπὶ τὸ πτερύγιον τοῦ ἱεροῦ, καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ, Εἰ υἱὸς εἶ τοῦ θεοῦ, βάλε σεαυτὸν ἐντεῦθεν κάτω· And he took him to Jerusalem, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here;
- 'He will give his angels charge of you Lk.4.10 | Ps.91.11-12for it is written,
'He will give his angels charge of you, to guard you,'
καὶ ὅτι
 and
'On their hands they will bear you up,
lest you strike your foot against a stone.'"
- You shall not tempt the Lord your God. Lk.4.12 | Dt.6.16And Jesus answered him, "It is said, 'You shall not tempt the Lord your God.'"
And when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from him until an opportune time.
