6 ΠΡΟΣ ΕΒΡΑΙΟΥΣ Hebrews Reference
1Διὸ ἀφέντες τὸν τῆς ἀρχῆς τοῦ Χριστοῦ λόγον ἐπὶ τὴν τελειότητα φερώμεθα, μὴ πάλιν θεμέλιον καταβαλλόμενοι μετανοίας ἀπὸ νεκρῶν ἐργων, καὶ πίστεως ἐπὶ θεόν, Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,
2βαπτισμῶν διδαχῆς, ἐπιθέσεώς τε χειρῶν, ἀναστάσεώς τε νεκρῶν, καὶ κρίματος αἰωνίου. with instruction about ablutions, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.
3καὶ τοῦτο ποιήσομεν ἐάνπερ ἐπιτρέπῃ ὁ θεός. And this we will do if God permits.
4Ἀδύνατον γὰρ τοὺς ἀπαξ φωτισθέντας, γευσαμένους τε τῆς δωρεᾶς τῆς ἐπουρανίου καὶ μετόχους γενηθέντας πνεύματος ἀγίου For it is impossible to restore again to repentance those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit,
5καὶ καλὸν γευσαμένους θεοῦ ῥῆμα δυνάμεις τε μέλλοντος αἰῶνος, and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come,
6καὶ παραπεσόντας, πάλιν ἀνακαινίζειν εἰς μετάνοιαν, ἀνασταυροῦντας ἑαυτοῖς τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ παραδειγματίζοντας. if they then commit apostasy, since they crucify the Son of God on their own account and hold him up to contempt.
7γῆ γὰρ ἡ πιοῦσα τὸν ἐπ' αὐτῆς ἐρχόμενον πολλάκις ὑετόν, καὶ τίκτουσα βοτάνην εὐθετον ἐκείνοις δῖ οὓς καὶ γεωργεῖται, μεταλαμβάνει εὐλογίας ἀπὸ τοῦ θεοῦ· For land which has drunk the rain that often falls upon it, and brings forth vegetation useful to those for whose sake it is cultivated, receives a blessing from God.
8ἐκφέρουσα δὲ ἀκάνθας καὶ τριβόλους ἀδόκιμος καὶ κατάρας ἐγγύς, ἧς τὸ τέλος εἰς καῦσιν. But if it bears thorns and thistles, it is worthless and near to being cursed; its end is to be burned.- But if it bears thorns and thistles, it is worthless Hb.6.8 | Gn.3.17-18
9Πεπείσμεθα δὲ περὶ ὑμῶν, ἀγαπητοί, τὰ κρείσσονα καὶ ἐχόμενα σωτηρίας, εἰ καὶ οὑτως λαλοῦμεν· Though we speak thus, yet in your case, beloved, we feel sure of better things that belong to salvation.
For God is not so unjust as to overlook your work and the love which you showed for his sake in serving the saints, as you still do.
11ἐπιθυμοῦμεν δὲ ἑκαστον ὑμῶν τὴν αὐτὴν ἐνδείκνυσθαι σπουδὴν πρὸς τὴν πληροφορίαν τῆς ἐλπίδος ἀχρι τέλους, And we desire each one of you to show the same earnestness in realizing the full assurance of hope until the end,
12ἵνα μὴ νωθροὶ γένησθε, μιμηταὶ δὲ τῶν διὰ πίστεως καὶ μακροθυμίας κληρονομούντων τὰς ἐπαγγελίας. so that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
13Τῷ γὰρ Ἀβραὰμ ἐπαγγειλάμενος ὁ θεός, ἐπεὶ κατ' οὐδενὸς εἶχεν μείζονος ὀμόσαι, ὤμοσεν καθ' ἑαυτοῦ, For when God made a promise to Abraham, since he had no one greater by whom to swear, he swore by himself,God's Sure Promise Hb.6.13-20

14λέγων, Εἰ μὴν εὐλογῶν εὐλογήσω σε καὶ πληθύνων πληθυνῶ σε· saying, "Surely I will bless you and multiply you."- Surely I will bless you and multiply you. Hb.6.14 | Gn.22.17 | Sir.44.21

15καὶ οὑτως μακροθυμήσας ἐπέτυχεν τῆς ἐπαγγελίας. And thus Abraham, having patiently endured, obtained the promise.
16ἄνθρωποι γὰρ κατὰ τοῦ μείζονος ὀμνύουσιν, καὶ πάσης αὐτοῖς ἀντιλογίας πέρας εἰς βεβαίωσιν ὁ ὁρκος· Men indeed swear by a greater than themselves, and in all their disputes an oath is final for confirmation.
17ἐν ᾧ περισσότερον βουλόμενος ὁ θεὸς ἐπιδεῖξαι τοῖς κληρονόμοις τῆς ἐπαγγελίας τὸ ἀμετάθετον τῆς βουλῆς αὐτοῦ ἐμεσίτευσεν ὁρκῳ, So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he interposed with an oath,
18ἵνα διὰ δύο πραγμάτων ἀμεταθέτων, ἐν οἷς ἀδύνατον ψεύσασθαι [τὸν] θεόν, ἰσχυρὰν παράκλησιν ἐχωμεν οἱ καταφυγόντες κρατῆσαι τῆς προκειμένης ἐλπίδος· so that through two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible that God should prove false, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to seize the hope set before us.
19ἣν ὡς ἀγκυραν ἐχομεν τῆς ψυχῆς, ἀσφαλῆ τε καὶ βεβαίαν καὶ εἰσερχομένην εἰς τὸ ἐσώτερον τοῦ καταπετάσματος, We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner shrine behind the curtain,
20ὁπου πρόδρομος ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν εἰσῆλθεν Ἰησοῦς, κατὰ τὴν τάξιν Μελχισέδεκ ἀρχιερεὺς γενόμενος εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα. where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest for ever after the order of Melchiz'edek.- a high priest for ever after the order of Melchiz'edek. Hb.6.20 | Ps.110.4
