| 1 | Φοβηθῶμεν οὖν μήποτε καταλειπομένης ἐπαγγελίας εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τὴν κατάπαυσιν αὐτοῦ δοκῇ τις ἐξ ὑμῶν ὑστερηκέναι· |
Therefore, while the promise of entering his rest remains, let us fear lest any of you be judged to have failed to reach it. |

| 2 | καὶ γάρ ἐσμεν εὐηγγελισμένοι καθάπερ κἀκεῖνοι, ἀλλ' οὐκ ὠφέλησεν ὁ λόγος τῆς ἀκοῆς ἐκείνους, μὴ συγκεκερασμένους τῇ πίστει τοῖς ἀκούσασιν. |
For good news came to us just as to them; but the message which they heard did not benefit them, because it did not meet with faith in the hearers. |

| 3 | εἰσερχόμεθα γὰρ εἰς [τὴν] κατάπαυσιν οἱ πιστεύσαντες, καθὼς εἰρηκεν, Ὡς ὤμοσα ἐν τῇ ὀργῇ μου,
Εἰ εἰσελεύσονται εἰς τὴν κατάπαυσίν μου, καίτοι τῶν ἐργων ἀπὸ καταβολῆς κόσμου γενηθέντων. |
For we who have believed enter that rest, as he has said, "As I swore in my wrath,
'They shall never enter my rest,'" although his works were finished from the foundation of the world. | - As I swore in my wrath Hb.4.3 | Ps.95.11

| 4 | εἰρηκεν γάρ που περὶ τῆς ἑβδόμης οὑτως, Kαὶ κατέπαυσεν ὁ θεὸς ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἑβδόμῃ ἀπὸ πάντων τῶν ἔργων αὐτοῦ· |
For he has somewhere spoken of the seventh day in this way, "And God rested on the seventh day from all his works." | - And God rested on the seventh day Hb.4.4 | Gn.2.2

| 5 | καὶ ἐν τούτῳ πάλιν, Εἰ εἰσελεύσονται εἰς τὴν κατάπαυσίν μου. |
And again in this place he said, "They shall never enter my rest." | - They shall never enter my rest. Hb.4.5 | Ps.95.11

| 6 | ἐπεὶ οὖν ἀπολείπεται τινὰς εἰσελθεῖν εἰς αὐτήν, καὶ οἱ πρότερον εὐαγγελισθέντες οὐκ εἰσῆλθον δῖ ἀπείθειαν, |
Since therefore it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly received the good news failed to enter because of disobedience, |

| 7 | πάλιν τινὰ ὁρίζει ἡμέραν, Σήμερον, ἐν Δαυὶδ λέγων μετὰ τοσοῦτον χρόνον, καθὼς προείρηται, Σήμερον ἐὰν τῆς φωνῆς αὐτοῦ ἀκούσητε,
μὴ σκληρύνητε τὰς καρδίας ὑμῶν. |
again he sets a certain day, "Today," saying through David so long afterward, in the words already quoted, "Today, when you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts." | - Today, when you hear his voice Hb.4.7-11 | Ps.95.7-8

| 8 | εἰ γὰρ αὐτοὺς Ἰησοῦς κατέπαυσεν, οὐκ ἂν περὶ ἀλλης ἐλάλει μετὰ ταῦτα ἡμέρας. |
For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not speak later of another day. |

| 9 | ἀρα ἀπολείπεται σαββατισμὸς τῷ λαῷ τοῦ θεοῦ· |
So then, there remains a sabbath rest for the people of God; |
|
| 10 | ὁ γὰρ εἰσελθὼν εἰς τὴν κατάπαυσιν αὐτοῦ καὶ αὐτὸς κατέπαυσεν ἀπὸ τῶν ἐργων αὐτοῦ ὡσπερ ἀπὸ τῶν ἰδίων ὁ θεός. |
for whoever enters God's rest also ceases from his labours as God did from his. |

| 11 | σπουδάσωμεν οὖν εἰσελθεῖν εἰς ἐκείνην τὴν κατάπαυσιν, ἵνα μὴ ἐν τῷ αὐτῷ τις ὑποδείγματι πέσῃ τῆς ἀπειθείας. |
Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, that no one fall by the same sort of disobedience. |

| 12 | Ζῶν γὰρ ὁ λόγος τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ἐνεργὴς καὶ τομώτερος ὑπὲρ πᾶσαν μάχαιραν δίστομον καὶ διϊκνούμενος ἀχρι μερισμοῦ ψυχῆς καὶ πνεύματος, ἀρμῶν τε καὶ μυελῶν, καὶ κριτικὸς ἐνθυμ ήσεων καὶ ἐννοιῶν καρδίας· |
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. |

| 13 | καὶ οὐκ ἐστιν κτίσις ἀφανὴς ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ, πάντα δὲ γυμνὰ καὶ τετραχηλισμένα τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς αὐτοῦ, πρὸς ὃν ἡμῖν ὁ λόγος. |
And before him no creature is hidden, but all are open and laid bare to the eyes of him with whom we have to do. |

| 14 | Ἔχοντες οὖν ἀρχιερέα μέγαν διεληλυθότα τοὺς οὐρανούς, Ἰησοῦν τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ θεοῦ, κρατῶμεν τῆς ὁμολογίας· |
Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. | Jesus the Great High Priest Hb.4.14-5.10

| 15 | οὐ γὰρ ἐχομεν ἀρχιερέα μὴ δυνάμενον συμπαθῆσαι ταῖς ἀσθενείαις ἡμῶν, πεπειρασμένον δὲ κατὰ πάντα καθ' ὁμοιότητα χωρὶς ἀμαρτίας. |
For we have not a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. |

| 16 | προσερχώμεθα οὖν μετὰ παρρησίας τῷ θρόνῳ τῆς χάριτος, ἵνα λάβωμεν ἐλεος καὶ χάριν εὑρωμεν εἰς εὐκαιρον βοήθειαν. |
Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. |
