15 ΚΑΤΑ ΜΑΘΘΑΙΟΝ Matthew Reference
1Τότε προσέρχονται τῷ Ἰησοῦ ἀπὸ Ἱεροσολύμων Φαρισαῖοι καὶ γραμματεῖς λέγοντες, Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said,The Tradition of the Elders Mt.15.1-20 | Mk.7.1-23
"Why do your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat."
3ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, Διὰ τί καὶ ὑμεῖς παραβαίνετε τὴν ἐντολὴν τοῦ θεοῦ διὰ τὴν παράδοσιν ὑμῶν; He answered them, "And why do you transgress the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition?
4ὁ γὰρ θεὸς εἶπεν, τίμα τὸν πατέρα καὶ τὴν μητέρα, καὶ ὁ κακολογῶν πατέρα ἢ μητέρα θανάτῳ τελευτάτω· For God commanded, 'Honor your father and your mother,' and, 'He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him surely die.' - Honour your father and your mother Mt.15.4 | Ex.20.12 | Dt.5.16 | Ex.21.17
5ὑμεῖς δὲ λέγετε, Ὃς ἂν εἰπῃ τῷ πατρὶ ἢ τῇ μητρί, Δῶρον ὃ ἐὰν ἐξ ἐμοῦ ὠφεληθῇς, But you say, 'If any one tells his father or his mother, What you would have gained from me is given to God, he need not honour his father.'
So, for the sake of your tradition, you have made void the word of God.
Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said:

'This people honours me with their lips,
but their heart is far from me;
- This people honours me with their lips Mt.15.8-9 | Is.29.13
in vain do they worship me,
teaching as doctrines the precepts of men.'"

10Καὶ προσκαλεσάμενος τὸν ὀχλον εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, Ἀκούετε καὶ συνίετε· And he called the people to him and said to them, "Hear and understand:
11οὐ τὸ εἰσερχόμενον εἰς τὸ στόμα κοινοῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον, ἀλλὰ τὸ ἐκπορευόμενον ἐκ τοῦ στόματος τοῦτο κοινοῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον. not what goes into the mouth defiles a man, but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man."
12Τότε προσελθόντες οἱ μαθηταὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῷ, Οἶδας ὅτι οἱ Φαρισαῖοι ἀκούσαντες τὸν λόγον ἐσκανδαλίσθησαν; Then the disciples came and said to him, "Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?"
He answered, "Every plant which my heavenly Father has not planted will be rooted up.
Let them alone; they are [blind] guides. And if a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit."

But Peter said to him, "Explain the parable to us."

16ὁ δὲ εἶπεν, Ἀκμὴν καὶ ὑμεῖς ἀσύνετοί ἐστὲ; And he said, "Are you also still without understanding?
17οὐ νοεῖτε ὅτι πᾶν τὸ εἰσπορευόμενον εἰς τὸ στόμα εἰς τὴν κοιλίαν χωρεῖ καὶ εἰς ἀφεδρῶνα ἐκβάλλεταὶ; Do you not see that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the stomach, and so passes on?
But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a man.
For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, fornication, theft, false witness, slander.
These are what defile a man; but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man."
And Jesus went away from there and withdrew to the district of Tyre and Sidon. The Canaanite Woman's Faith Mt.15.21-28 | Mk.7.24-30

And behold, a Canaanite woman from that region came out and cried, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely possessed by a demon."
But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came and begged him, saying, "Send her away, for she is crying after us."
He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."
But she came and knelt before him, saying, "Lord, help me."
And he answered, "It is not fair to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs."
She said, "Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table."
Then Jesus answered her, "O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire." And her daughter was healed instantly.
And Jesus went on from there and passed along the Sea of Galilee. And he went up on the mountain, and sat down there. The Healing of Many People Mt.15.29-31

30καὶ προσῆλθον αὐτῷ ὀχλοι πολλοὶ ἐχοντες μεθ' ἑαυτῶν χωλούς, τυφλούς, κυλλούς, κωφούς, καὶ ἑτέρους πολλούς, καὶ ἐρριψαν αὐτοὺς παρὰ τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐθεράπευσεν αὐτο ύς· And great crowds came to him, bringing with them the lame, the maimed, the blind, the dumb, and many others, and they put them at his feet, and he healed them,
31ὡστε τὸν ὀχλον θαυμάσαι βλέποντας κωφοὺς λαλοῦντας, κυλλοὺς ὑγιεῖς, καὶ χωλοὺς περιπατοῦντας καὶ τυφλοὺς βλέποντας· καὶ ἐδόξασαν τὸν θεὸν Ἰσραήλ. so that the throng wondered, when they saw the dumb speaking, the maimed whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel.
Then Jesus called his disciples to him and said, "I have compassion on the crowd, because they have been with me now three days, and have nothing to eat; and I am unwilling to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way." The Feeding of the Four Thousand Mt.15.32-39 | Mk.8.1-10

33καὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταί, Πόθεν ἡμῖν ἐν ἐρημίᾳ ἀρτοι τοσοῦτοι ὡστε χορτάσαι ὀχλον τοσοῦτον; And the disciples said to him, "Where are we to get bread enough in the desert to feed so great a crowd?"
And Jesus said to them, "How many loaves have you?" They said, "Seven, and a few small fish."
35καὶ παραγγείλας τῷ ὀχλῳ ἀναπεσεῖν ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν And commanding the crowd to sit down on the ground,
36ἐλαβεν τοὺς ἑπτὰ ἀρτους καὶ τοὺς ἰχθύας καὶ εὐχαριστήσας ἐκλασεν καὶ ἐδίδου τοῖς μαθηταῖς, οἱ δὲ μαθηταὶ τοῖς ὀχλοις. he took the seven loaves and the fish, and having given thanks he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds.
And they all ate and were satisfied; and they took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces left over.
Those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.
And sending away the crowds, he got into the boat and went to the region of Mag'adan.
