2	ΚΑΤΑ ΙΩΑΝΝΗΝ	John	Reference
13	Καὶ ἐγγὺς ἦν τὸ πάσχα τῶν Ἰουδαίων, καὶ ἀνέβη εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα ὁ Ἰησοῦς.	As it was near the time of the Jewish Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem.	The Cleansing of the Temple Jn.2.13-22 \| Mt.21.12-13 \| Mk.11.15-17 \| Lk.19.45-46
14	καὶ εὗρεν ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ τοὺς πωλοῦντας βόας καὶ πρόβατα καὶ περιστερὰς καὶ τοὺς κερματιστὰς καθημένους,	There he found in the temple the dealers in cattle, sheep, and pigeons, and the money-changers seated at their tables.
15	καὶ ποιήσας φραγέλλιον ἐκ σχοινίων πάντας ἐξέβαλεν ἐκ τοῦ ἱεροῦ, τά τε πρόβατα καὶ τοὺς βόας, καὶ τῶν κολλυβιστῶν ἐξέχεεν τὸ κέρμα καὶ τὰς τραπέζας ἀνέτρεψεν,	Jesus made a whip of cords and drove them out of the temple, sheep, cattle, and all. He upset the tables of the money-changers, scattering their coins.
16	καὶ τοῖς τὰς περιστερὰς πωλοῦσιν εἶπεν, Ἄρατε ταῦτα ἐντεῦθεν, μὴ ποιεῖτε τὸν οἶκον τοῦ πατρός μου οἶκον ἐμπορίου.	Then he turned on the dealers in pigeons: 'Take them out,' he said; 'you must not turn my Father's house into a market.'
17	Ἐμνήσθησαν οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ὅτι γεγραμμένον ἐστίν, Ὁ ζῆλος τοῦ οἴκου σου καταφάγεταί με.	His disciples recalled the words of Scripture, 'Zeal for thy house shall destroy me.'	- Zeal for thy house will consume me Jn.2.17 \| Ps.69.9
18	ἀπεκρίθησαν οὖν οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῷ, Τί σημεῖον δεικνύεις ἡμῖν, ὅτι ταῦτα ποιεῖς;	The Jews challenged Jesus: 'What sign', they asked, 'can you show as authority for your action?'
19	ἀπεκρίθη Ἰησοῦς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, Λύσατε τὸν ναὸν τοῦτον καὶ ἐν τρισὶν ἡμέραις ἐγερῶ αὐτόν.	'Destroy this temple,' Jesus replied, 'and in three days I will raise it again.'
20	εἶπαν οὖν οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι, Τεσσεράκοντα καὶ ἓξ ἐτεσιν οἰκοδομήθη ὁ ναὸς οὗτος, καὶ σὺ ἐν τρισὶν ἡμέραις ἐγερεῖς αὐτόν;	They said, 'It has taken forty-six years to build this temple. Are you going to raise it again in three days?'
21	ἐκεῖνος δὲ ἐλεγεν περὶ τοῦ ναοῦ τοῦ σώματος αὐτοῦ.	But the temple he was speaking of was his body.
22	ὅτε οὖν ἠγέρθη ἐκ νεκρῶν, ἐμνήσθησαν οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ὅτι τοῦτο ἐλεγεν, καὶ ἐπίστευσαν τῇ γραφῇ καὶ τῷ λόγῳ ὃν εἶπεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς.	After his resurrection his disciples recalled what he had said, and they believed the Scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken.
