Hebrews

Reference
1Σκιὰν γὰρ ἐχων ὁ νόμος τῶν μελλόντων ἀγαθῶν, οὐκ αὐτὴν τὴν εἰκόνα τῶν πραγμάτων, κατ' ἐνιαυτὸν ταῖς αὐταῖς θυσίαις ἂς προσφέρουσιν εἰς τὸ διηνεκὲς οὐδέποτε δύναται τοὺς προσερχομένους τελειῶσαι· FOR THE LAW CONTAINS but a shadow, and no true image, of the good things which were to come; it provides for the same sacrifices year after year, and with these it can never bring the worshippers to perfection for all time.
2ἐπεὶ οὐκ ἂν ἐπαύσαντο προσφερόμεναι, διὰ τὸ μηδεμίαν ἐχειν ἐτι συνείδησιν ἀμαρτιῶν τοὺς λατρεύοντας ἀπαξ κεκαθαρισμένους; If it could, these sacrifices would surely have ceased to be offered, because the worshippers, cleansed once for all, would no longer have any sense of sin.
3ἀλλ' ἐν αὐταῖς ἀνάμνησις ἀμαρτιῶν κατ' ἐνιαυτόν, But instead, in these sacrifices year after year sins are brought to mind,
4ἀδύνατον γὰρ αἷμα ταύρων καὶ τράγων ἀφαιρεῖν ἀμαρτίας. because sins can never be removed by the blood of bulls and goats.

That is why, at his coming into the world, he says:

'Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire,
But thou hast prepared a body for me.

- Sacrifices and offerings thou hast not desired Hb.10.5-7 | Ps.40.6-8

Whole-offerings and sin-offerings thou didst not delight in.

Then I said, "Here am I:
as it is written of me in the scroll,
I have come, O God, to do thy will."'

8ἀνώτερον λέγων ὅτι Θυσίας καὶ προσφορὰς καὶ ὁλοκαυτώματα καὶ περὶ ἁμαρτίας οὐκ ἠθέλησας οὐδὲ εὐδόκησας, αἱτινες κατὰ νόμον προσφέρονται, First he says, 'Sacrifices and offerings, whole-offerings and sin-offerings, thou didst not desire nor delight in' - although the Law prescribes them -- Thou hast neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices Hb.10.8 | Ps.40.6
ἀναιρεῖ τὸ πρῶτον ἵνα τὸ δεύτερον στήσῃ· and then he says, 'I have come to do thy will.' He thus annuls the former to establish the latter.- Lo, I have come to do thy will. Hb.10.9 | Ps.40.7
And it is by the will of God that we have been consecrated, through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once and for all.
Every priest stands performing his service daily and offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never remove sins.
12οὗτος δὲ μίαν ὑπὲρ ἀμαρτιῶν προσενέγκας θυσίαν εἰς τὸ διηνεκὲς ἐκάθισεν ἐν δεξιᾷ τοῦ θεοῦ, But Christ offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, and took his seat at the right hand of God,- he sat down at the right hand of God Hb.10.12 | Ps.110.1
13τὸ λοιπὸν ἐκδεχόμενος ἕως τεθῶσιν οἱ ἐχθροὶ αὐτοῦ ὑποπόδιον τῶν ποδῶν αὐτοῦ· where he waits henceforth until his enemies are made his footstool.- his enemies should be made a stool for his feet Hb.10.13 | Ps.110.1
For by one offering he has perfected for all time those who are thus consecrated.
15Μαρτυρεῖ δὲ ἡμῖν καὶ τὸ Πνεῦμα τὸ ἀγιον· μετὰ γὰρ τὸ εἰρηκέναι, Here we have also the testimony of the Holy Spirit: he first says,

'This is the covenant which I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will set my laws in their hearts and write them on their understanding'; - I will put my laws on their hearts Hb.10.16 | Jr.31.33
then he adds, 'and their sins and wicked deeds I will remember no more at all.' - I will remember their sins and their misdeeds no more. Hb.10.17 | Jr.31.34
And where these have been forgiven, there is no longer any offering for sin.

19Ἔχοντες οὖν, ἀδελφοί, παρρησίαν εἰς τὴν εἰσοδον τῶν ἀγίων ἐν τῷ αἱματι Ἰησοῦ, SO NOW, MY FRIENDS, the blood of Jesus makes us free to enter boldly into the sanctuaryExhortation and Warning Hb.10.19-39
20ἣν ἐνεκαίνισεν ἡμῖν ὁδὸν πρόσφατον καὶ ζῶσαν διὰ τοῦ καταπετάσματος, τοῦτ' ἐστιν τῆς σαρκὸς αὐτοῦ, by the new, living way which he has opened for us through the curtain, the way of his flesh.
21καὶ ἱερέα μέγαν ἐπὶ τὸν οἶκον τοῦ θεοῦ, We have, moreover, a great priest set over the household of God;
22προσερχώμεθα μετὰ ἀληθινῆς καρδίας ἐν πληροφορίᾳ πίστεως, ῥεραντισμένοι τὰς καρδίας ἀπὸ συνειδήσεως πονηρᾶς καὶ λελουσμένοι τὸ σῶμα ὑδατι καθαρῷ· so let us make our approach in sincerity of heart and full assurance of faith, our guilty hearts sprinkled clean, our bodies washed with pure water.
23κατέχωμεν τὴν ὁμολογίαν τῆς ἐλπίδος ἀκλινῆ, πιστὸς γὰρ ὁ ἐπαγγειλάμενος· Let us be firm and unswerving in the confession of our hope, for the Giver of the promise may be trusted.
24καὶ κατανοῶμεν ἀλλήλους εἰς παροξυσμὸν ἀγάπης καὶ καλῶν ἐργων, We ought to see how each of us may best arouse others to love and active goodness,
25μὴ ἐγκαταλείποντες τὴν ἐπισυναγωγὴν ἑαυτῶν, καθὼς ἐθος τισίν, ἀλλὰ παρακαλοῦντες, καὶ τοσούτῳ μᾶλλον ὁσῳ βλέπετε ἐγγίζουσαν τὴν ἡμέραν. not staying away from our meetings, as some do, but rather encouraging one another, all the more because you see the Day drawing near.

26Ἑκουσίως γὰρ ἀμαρτανόντων ἡμῶν μετὰ τὸ λαβεῖν τὴν ἐπίγνωσιν τῆς ἀληθείας, οὐκέτι περὶ ἀμαρτιῶν ἀπολείπεται θυσία, For if we persist in sin after receiving the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins remains:
27φοβερὰ δέ τις ἐκδοχὴ κρίσεως καὶ πυρὸς ζῆλος ἐσθίειν μέλλοντος τοὺς ὑπεναντίους. only a terrifying expectation of judgement and a fierce fire which will consume God's enemies.
28ἀθετήσας τις νόμον Μωϋσέως χωρὶς οἰκτιρμῶν ἐπὶ δυσὶν ἢ τρισὶν μάρτυσιν ἀποθνῄσκει· If a man disregards the Law of Moses, he is put to death without pity on the evidence of two or three witnesses.- A man who has violated the law of Moses dies Hb.10.28 | Dt.17.6 | Dt.19.15
29πόσῳ δοκεῖτε χείρονος ἀξιωθήσεται τιμωρίας ὁ τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ θεοῦ καταπατήσας, καὶ τὸ αἷμα τῆς διαθήκης κοινὸν ἡγησάμενος ἐν ᾧ ἡγιάσθη, καὶ τὸ Πνεῦμα τῆς χάριτος ἐνυβρίσας; Think how much more severe a penalty that man will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was consecrated, and affronted God's gracious Spirit!

For we know who it is that has said, 'Justice is mine: I will repay'; and again, 'The Lord will judge his people.' - For we know him who said "Vengeance is mine, I will repay." And again, "The Lord will judge Hb.10.30 | Dt.32.35
It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

32Ἀναμιμνῄσκεσθε δὲ τὰς πρότερον ἡμέρας, ἐν αἷς φωτισθέντες πολλὴν ἀθλησιν ὑπεμείνατε παθημάτων, Remember the days gone by, when, newly enlightened, you met the challenge of great sufferings and held firm.
33τοῦτο μὲν ὀνειδισμοῖς τε καὶ θλίψεσιν θεατριζόμενοι, τοῦτο δὲ κοινωνοὶ τῶν οὑτως ἀναστρεφομένων γενηθέντες· Some of you were abused and tormented to make a public show, while others stood loyally by those who were so treated.
For indeed you shared the sufferings of the prisoners, and you cheerfully accepted the seizure of your possessions, knowing that you possessed something better and more lasting.
35μὴ ἀποβάλητε οὖν τὴν παρρησίαν ὑμῶν, ἡτις ἐχει μεγάλην μισθαποδοσίαν, Do not then throw away your confidence, for it carries a great reward.
You need endurance, if you are to do God's will and win what he has promised.

For 'soon, very soon' (in the words of Scripture), 'he who is to come will come; he will not delay; - Hb.10.37 | Hab.2.3-4 | Is.26.20
38ὁ δὲ δίκαιός μου ἐκ πίστεως ζήσεται, καὶ ἐὰν ὑποστείληται, οὐκ εὐδοκεῖ ἡ ψυχή μου ἐν αὐτῷ. and by faith my righteous servant shall find life; but if a man shrinks back, I take no pleasure in him.' but my righteous one shall live by faith Hb.10.38 | Ro.1.17 | Ga.3.11
But we are not among those who shrink back and are lost; we have the faith to make life our own.
