| ἀλλὰ ἀκύρους ἐποιεῖτε ἐμὰς βουλάς, τοῖς δὲ ἐμοῖς ἐλέγχοις ἠπειθήσατε, | but you set at nought my counsels, and disregarded my reproofs; | and you have ignored all my counsel and would have none of my reproof, | וַתִּפְרְעוּ כָל־עֲצָתִי וְתֹוכַחְתִּי לֹא אֲבִיתֶם׃ | |||
| τοιγαροῦν κἀγὼ τῇ ὑμετέρᾳ ἀπωλείᾳ ἐπιγελάσομαι, καταχαροῦμαι δέ, ἡνίκα ἂν ἔρχηται ὑμῖν ὄλεθρος, | therefore I also will laugh at your destruction; and I will rejoice against [you when ruin comes upon you: | I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when panic strikes you, | גַּם־אֲנִי בְּאֵידְכֶם אֶשְׂחָק אֶלְעַג בְּבֹא פַחְדְּכֶם׃ | |||
| καὶ ὡς ἂν ἀφίκηται ὑμῖν ἄφνω θόρυβος, ἡ δὲ καταστροφὴ ὁμοίως καταιγίδι παρῇ, καὶ ὅταν ἔρχηται ὑμῖν θλῖψις καὶ πολιορκία, ἢ ὅταν ἔρχηται ὑμῖν ὄλεθρος. | yea when dismay suddenly comes upon you, and [your overthrow shall arrive like a tempest; and when tribulation and distress shall come upon you, or when ruin shall come upon you. | when panic strikes you like a storm, and your calamity comes like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you. | בְּבֹא כ= כְשַׁאֲוָה ק= כְשֹׁואָה פַּחְדְּכֶם וְאֵידְכֶם כְּסוּפָה יֶאֱתֶה בְּבֹא עֲלֵיכֶם צָרָה וְצוּקָה׃ | |||
| ἔσται γὰρ ὅταν ἐπικαλέσησθέ με, ἐγὼ δὲ οὐκ εἰσακούσομαι ὑμῶν· ζητήσουσίν με κακοὶ καὶ οὐχ εὑρήσουσιν. | For it shall be that when you call upon me, I will not listen to you: wicked men shall seek me, but shall not find [me. | Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer; they will seek me diligently but will not find me. | אָז יִקְרָאֻנְנִי וְלֹא אֶעֱנֶה יְשַׁחֲרֻנְנִי וְלֹא יִמְצָאֻנְנִי׃ | |||
| ἐμίσησαν γὰρ σοφίαν, τὸν δὲ φόβον τοῦ κυρίου οὐ προ είλαντο | For they hated wisdom, and did not choose the word of the Lord: | Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the LORD, | תַּחַת כִּי־שָׂנְאוּ דָעַת וְיִרְאַת יְהֹוָה לֹא בָחָרוּ׃ | |||
| οὐδὲ ἤθελον ἐμαῖς προσέχειν βουλαῖς, ἐμυκτήριζον δὲ ἐμοὺς ἐλέγχους. | neither would they attend to my counsels, but derided my reproofs. | would have none of my counsel, and despised all my reproof, | לֹא־אָבוּ לַעֲצָתִי נָאֲצוּ כָּל־תֹּוכַחְתִּי׃ | |||
| τοιγαροῦν ἔδονται τῆς ἑαυτῶν ὁδοῦ τοὺς καρποὺς καὶ τῆς ἑαυτῶν ἀσεβείας πλησθήσονται· | Therefore shall they eat the fruits of their own way, and shall be filled with their own ungodliness. | therefore they shall eat the fruit of their way and be sated with their own devices. | וְיֹאכְלוּ מִפְּרִי דַרְכָּם וּמִמֹּעֲצֹתֵיהֶם יִשְׂבָּעוּ׃ | |||
| ἀνθ' ὧν γὰρ ἠδίκουν νηπίους, φονευθήσονται, καὶ ἐξετασμὸς ἀσεβεῖς ὀλεῖ. | For because they wronged the simple, they shall be slain; and an inquisition shall ruin the ungodly. | For the simple are killed by their turning away, and the complacence of fools destroys them; | כִּי מְשׁוּבַת פְּתָיִם תַּהַרְגֵם וְשַׁלְוַת כְּסִילִים תְּאַבְּדֵם׃ | |||
| ὁ δὲ ἐμοῦ ἀκούων κατασκηνώσει ἐπ' ἐλπίδι καὶ ἡσυχάσει ἀφόβως ἀπὸ παντὸς κακοῦ. | But he that listens to me shall dwell in confidence, and shall rest securely from all evil. | but he who listens to me will dwell secure and will be at ease, without dread of evil." | וְשֹׁמֵעַ לִי יִשְׁכָּן־בֶּטַח וְשַׁאֲןַן מִפַּחַד רָעָה׃ ף | |||

| οἱ εὐφραινόμενοι ἐπὶ κακοῖς καὶ χαίροντες ἐπὶ διαστροφῇ κακῇ, | who rejoice in evils, and delight in wicked perverseness; | who rejoice in doing evil and delight in the perverseness of evil; | הַשְּׂמֵחִים לַעֲשֹׂות רָע יָגִילוּ בְּתַהְפֻּכֹות רָע׃ | |||

| πάντες οἱ πορευόμενοι ἐν αὐτῇ οὐκ ἀναστρέψουσιν οὐδὲ μὴ καταλάβωσιν τρίβους εὐθείας· οὐ γὰρ καταλαμβάνονται ὑπὸ ἐνιαυτῶν ζωῆς. | None that go by her shall return, neither shall they take hold of right paths, for they are not apprehended of the years of life. | none who go to her come back nor do they regain the paths of life. | כָּל־בָּאֶיהָ לֹא יְשׁוּבוּן וְלֹא־יַשִּׂיגוּ אָרְחֹות חַיִּים׃ | |||
| εἰ γὰρ ἐπορεύοντο τρίβους ἀγαθάς, εὕροσαν ἂν τρίβους δικαιοσύνης λείους. | For had they gone in good paths, they would have found the paths of righteousness easy. | So you will walk in the way of good men and keep to the paths of the righteous. | לְמַעַן תֵּלֵךְ בְּדֶרֶךְ טֹובִים וְאָרְחֹות צַדִּיקִים תִּשְׁמֹר׃ | |||
| χρηστοὶ ἔσονται οἰκήτορες γῆς, ἄκακοι δὲ ὑπολειφθήσονται ἐν αὐτῇ, ὅτι εὐθεῖς κατασκηνώσουσι γῆν, καὶ ὅσιοι ὑπολειφθήσονται ἐν αὐτῇ· | For the upright shall dwell in the earth, and the holy shall be left behind in it. | For the upright will inhabit the land, and men of integrity will remain in it; | כִּי־יְשָׁרִים יִשְׁכְּנוּ־אָרֶץ וּתְמִימִים יִוָּתְרוּ בָהּ׃ | |||
| ὁδοὶ ἀσεβῶν ἐκ γῆς ὀλοῦνται, οἱ δὲ παράνομοι ἐξωσθήσονται ἀπ' αὐτῆς. | The paths of the ungodly shall perish out of the earth, and transgressors shall be driven away from it. | but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the treacherous will be rooted out of it. | וּרְשָׁעִים מֵאֶרֶץ יִכָּרֵתוּ וּבֹוגְדִים יִסְּחוּ מִמֶּנָּה׃ ף | |||
