Καὶ Βοος ἀνέβη ἐπὶ τὴν πύλην καὶ ἐκάθισεν ἐκεῖ, καὶ ἰδοὺ ὁ ἀγχιστευτὴς παρεπορεύετο, ὃν εἶπεν Βοος. καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτὸν Βοος Ἑκκλίνας κάθισον ὧδε, κρύφιε· καὶ ἐξέκλινεν καὶ ἐκάθισεν. |
And Booz went up to the gate, and sat there; and behold, the relative passed by, of whom Booz spoke: and Booz said to him, Turn aside, sit down here, such a one: and he turned aside and sat down. |

And Bo'az went up to the gate and sat down there; and behold, the next of kin, of whom Bo'az had spoken, came by. So Bo'az said, "Turn aside, friend; sit down here"; and he turned aside and sat down. | וּבֹעַז עָלָה הַשַּׁעַר וַיֵּשֶׁב שָׁם וְהִנֵּה הַגֹּאֵל עֹבֵר אֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר־בֹּעַז וַיֹּאמֶר סוּרָה שְׁבָה־פֹּה פְּלֹנִי אַלְמֹנִי וַיָּסַר וַיֵּשֵׁב׃ |

And Booz took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit ye here; and they sat down. |

καὶ εἶπεν Βοος τῷ ἀγχιστεῖ Τὴν μερίδα τοῦ ἀγροῦ, ἥ ἐστιν τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ ἡμῶν τοῦ Αβιμελεχ, ἣ δέδοται Νωεμιν τῇ ἐπιστρεφούσῃ ἐξ ἀγροῦ Μωαβ, |
And Booz said to the relative, [The matter regards] the portion of the field which was our brother Elimelech's which was given to Noemin, now returning out of the land of Moab; |

Then he said to the next of kin, "Na'omi, who has come back from the country of Moab, is selling the parcel of land which belonged to our kinsman Elim'elech. | וַיֹּאמֶר לַגֹּאֵל חֶלְקַת הַשָּׂדֶה אֲשֶׁר לְאָחִינוּ לֶאֱלִימֶלֶךְ מָכְרָה נָעֳמִי הַשָּׁבָה מִשְּׂדֵה מֹואָב׃ |

κἀγὼ εἶπα Ἀποκαλύψω τὸ οὖς σου λέγων Κτῆσαι ἐναντίον τῶν καθημένων καὶ ἐναντίον τῶν πρεσβυτέρων τοῦ λαοῦ μου· εἰ ἀγχιστεύεις, ἀγχίστευε· εἰ δὲ μὴ ἀγχιστεύεις, ἀνάγγειλόν μοι καὶ γνώσομαι· ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν πάρεξ σοῦ τοῦ ἀγχιστεῦσαι, κἀγώ εἰμι μετὰ σέ. ὁ δὲ εἶπεν Ἑγώ εἰμι ἀγχιστεύσω. |
and I said, I will inform thee, saying, Buy it before those that sit, and before the elders of my people: if thou wilt redeem it, redeem it, but if thou wilt not redeem it, tell me, and I shall know; for there is no one beside thee to do the office of a kinsman, and I am after thee: and he said, I am [here], I will redeem it. |

So I thought I would tell you of it, and say, Buy it in the presence of those sitting here, and in the presence of the elders of my people. If you will redeem it, redeem it; but if you will not, tell me, that I may know, for there is no one besides you to redeem it, and I come after you." And he said, "I will redeem it." | וַאֲנִי אָמַרְתִּי אֶגְלֶה אָזְנְךָ לֵאמֹר קְנֵה נֶגֶד הַיֹּשְׁבִימ וְנֶגֶד זִקְנֵי עַמִּי אִם־תִּגְאַל גְּאָל וְאִם־לֹא יִגְאַל הַגִּידָה לִּי [כ= וְאֵדַע] [ק= וְאֵדְעָה] כִּי אֵין זוּלָתְךָ לִגְאֹול וְאָנֹכִי אַחֲרֶיךָ וַיֹּאמֶר אָנֹכִי אֶגְאָל׃ |

καὶ εἶπεν Βοος Ἑν ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ κτήσασθαί σε τὸν ἀγρὸν ἐκ χειρὸς Νωεμιν καὶ παρὰ Ρουθ τῆς Μωαβίτιδος γυναικὸς τοῦ τεθνηκότος, καὶ αὐτὴν κτήσασθαί σε δεῖ ὥστε ἀναστῆσαι τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ τεθνηκότος ἐπὶ τῆς κληρονομίας αὐτοῦ. |
And Booz said, In the day of thy buying the field of the hand of Noemin and of Ruth the Moabitess the wife of the deceased, thou must also buy her, so as to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance. |

Then Bo'az said, "The day you buy the field from the hand of Na'omi, you are also buying Ruth the Moabitess, the widow of the dead, in order to restore the name of the dead to his inheritance." | וַיֹּאמֶר בֹּעַז בְּיֹום־קְנֹותְךָ הַשָּׂדֶה מִיַּד נָעֳמִי וּמֵאֵת רוּת הַמֹּואֲבִיָּה אֵשֶׁת־הַמֵּת [כ= קָנִיתִי] [ק= קָנִיתָה] לְהָקִים שֵׁם־הַמֵּת עַל־נַחֲלָתֹו׃ |

καὶ εἶπεν ὁ ἀγχιστεύς Οὐ δυνήσομαι ἀγχιστεῦσαι ἐμαυτῷ, μήποτε διαφθείρω τὴν κληρονομίαν μου· ἀγχίστευσον σεαυτῷ τὴν ἀγχιστείαν μου, ὅτι οὐ δυνήσομαι ἀγχιστεῦσαι. |
And the kinsman said, I shall not be able to redeem it for myself, lest I mar my own inheritance; do thou redeem my right for thyself, for I shall not be able to redeem [it]. |

Then the next of kin said, "I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I impair my own inheritance. Take my right of redemption yourself, for I cannot redeem it." | וַיֹּאמֶר הַגֹּאֵל לֹא אוּכַל [כ= לִגְאֹול] [ק= לִגְאָל]־לִי פֶּן־אַשְׁחִית אֶת־נַחֲלָתִי גְּאַל־לְךָ אַתָּה אֶת־גְּאֻלָּתִי כִּי לֹא־אוּכַל לִגְאֹל׃ |

καὶ τοῦτο τὸ δικαίωμα ἔμπροσθεν ἐν τῷ Ισραηλ ἐπὶ τὴν ἀγχιστείαν καὶ ἐπὶ τὸ ἀντάλλαγμα τοῦ στῆσαι πᾶν λόγον, καὶ ὑπελύετο ὁ ἀνὴρ τὸ ὑπόδημα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐδίδου τῷ πλησίον αὐτοῦ τῷ ἀγχιστεύοντι τὴν ἀγχιστείαν αὐτοῦ, καὶ τοῦτο ἦν μαρτύριον ἐν Ισραηλ. |
And this [was] in former time the ordinance in Israel for redemption, and for a bargain, to confirm every word: A man loosed his shoe, and gave it to his neighbour that redeemed his right; and this was a testimony in Israel. |

Now this was the custom in former times in Israel concerning redeeming and exchanging: to confirm a transaction, the one drew off his sandal and gave it to the other, and this was the manner of attesting in Israel. | וְזֹאת לְפָנִים בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל עַל־הַגְּאוּלָּה וְעַל־הַתְּמוּרָה לְקַיֵּם כָּל־דָּבָר שָׁלַף אִישׁ נַעֲלֹו וְנָתַן לְרֵעֵהוּ וְזֹאת הַתְּעוּדָה בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל׃ |

καὶ εἶπεν ὁ ἀγχιστεὺς τῷ Βοος Κτῆσαι σεαυτῷ τὴν ἀγχιστείαν μου· καὶ ὑπελύσατο τὸ ὑπόδημα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ. |
And the kinsman said to Booz, Buy my right for thyself: and he took off his shoe and gave it to him. |

So when the next of kin said to Bo'az, "Buy it for yourself," he drew off his sandal. | וַיֹּאמֶר הַגֹּאֵל לְבֹעַז קְנֵה־לָךְ וַיִּשְׁלֹף נַעֲלֹו׃ |

καὶ εἶπεν Βοος τοῖς πρεσβυτέροις καὶ παντὶ τῷ λαῷ Μάρτυρες ὑμεῖς σήμερον ὅτι κέκτημαι πάντα τὰ τοῦ Αβιμελεχ καὶ πάντα, ὅσα ὑπάρχει τῷ Χελαιων καὶ τῷ Μααλων, ἐκ χειρὸς Νωεμιν· |
And Booz said to the elders and to all the people, Ye [are] this day witnesses, that I have bought all that was Elimelech's, and all that belonged to Chelaion and Maalon, of the hand of Noemin. |

Then Bo'az said to the elders and all the people, "You are witnesses this day that I have bought from the hand of Na'omi all that belonged to Elim'elech and all that belonged to Chil'ion and to Mahlon. | וַיֹּאמֶר בֹּעַז לַזְּקֵנִים וְכָל־הָעָם עֵדִים אַתֶּם הַיֹּום כִּי קָנִיתִי אֶת־כָּל־אֲשֶׁר לֶאֱלִימֶלֶךְ וְאֵת כָּל־אֲשֶׁר לְכִלְיֹון וּמַחְלֹון מִיַּד נָעֳמִי׃ |

καί γε Ρουθ τὴν Μωαβῖτιν τὴν γυναῖκα Μααλων κέκτημαι ἐμαυτῷ εἰς γυναῖκα τοῦ ἀναστῆσαι τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ τεθνηκότος ἐπὶ τῆς κληρονομίας αὐτοῦ, καὶ οὐκ ἐξολεθρευθήσεται τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ τεθνηκότος ἐκ τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς λαοῦ αὐτοῦ· μάρτυρες ὑμεῖς σήμερον. |
Moreover I have bought for myself for a wife Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Maalon, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance; so the name of the dead shall not be destroyed from among his brethren, and from the tribe of his people: ye [are] this day witnesses. |

Also Ruth the Moabitess, the widow of Mahlon, I have bought to be my wife, to perpetuate the name of the dead in his inheritance, that the name of the dead may not be cut off from among his brethren and from the gate of his native place; you are witnesses this day." | וְגַם אֶת־רוּת הַמֹּאֲבִיָּה אֵשֶׁת מַחְלֹון קָנִיתִי לִי לְאִשָּׁה לְהָקִים שֵׁם־הַמֵּת עַל־נַחֲלָתֹו וְלֹא־יִכָּרֵת שֵׁם־הַמֵּת מֵעִם אֶחָיו וּמִשַּׁעַר מְקֹומֹו עֵדִים אַתֶּם הַיֹּום׃ |

καὶ εἴποσαν πᾶς ὁ λαὸς οἱ ἐν τῇ πύλῃ Μάρτυρες. καὶ οἱ πρεσβύτεροι εἴποσαν Δῴη κύριος τὴν γυναῖκά σου τὴν εἰσπορευομένην εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου ὡς Ραχηλ καὶ ὡς Λειαν, αἳ ᾠκοδόμησαν ἀμφότεραι τὸν οἶκον Ισραηλ καὶ ἐποίησαν δύναμιν ἐν Εφραθα, καὶ ἔσται ὄνομα ἐν Βαιθλεεμ· |
And all the people who were in the gate said, [We are] witnesses: and the elders said, The Lord make thy wife who goes into thy house, as Rachel and as Lia, who both [together] built the house of Israel, and wrought mightily in Ephratha, and there shall be a name [to thee] in Bethleem. |

Then all the people who were at the gate, and the elders, said, "We are witnesses. May the LORD make the woman, who is coming into your house, like Rachel and Leah, who together built up the house of Israel. May you prosper in Eph'rathah and be renowned in Bethlehem; | וַיֹּאמְרוּ כָּל־הָעָם אֲשֶׁר־בַּשַּׁעַר וְהַזְּקֵנִים עֵדִים יִתֵּן יְהוָה אֶת־הָאִשָּׁה הַבָּאָה אֶל־בֵּיתֶךָ כְּרָחֵל וּכְלֵאָה אֲשֶׁר בָּנוּ שְׁתֵּיהֶם אֶת־בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל וַעֲשֵׂה־חַיִל בְּאֶפְרָתָה וּקְרָא־שֵׁם בְּבֵית לָחֶם׃ |

καὶ γένοιτο ὁ οἶκός σου ὡς ὁ οἶκος Φαρες, ὃν ἔτεκεν Θαμαρ τῷ Ιουδα, ἐκ τοῦ σπέρματος, οὗ δώσει κύριός σοι ἐκ τῆς παιδίσκης ταύτης. |
And let thy house be as the house of Phares, whom Thamar bore to Juda, of the seed which the Lord shall give thee of this handmaid. |

and may your house be like the house of Perez, whom Tamar bore to Judah, because of the children that the LORD will give you by this young woman." | וִיהִי בֵיתְךָ כְּבֵית פֶּרֶץ אֲשֶׁר־יָלְדָה תָמָר לִיהוּדָה מִן־הַזֶּרַע אֲשֶׁר יִתֵּן יְהוָה לְךָ מִן־הַנַּעֲרָה הַזֹּאת׃ |

καὶ ἔλαβεν Βοος τὴν Ρουθ, καὶ ἐγενήθη αὐτῷ εἰς γυναῖκα, καὶ εἰσῆλθεν πρὸς αὐτήν, καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῇ κύριος κύησιν, καὶ ἔτεκεν υἱόν. |
And Booz took Ruth, and she became his wife, and he went in to her; and the Lord gave her conception, and she bore a son. |

So Bo'az took Ruth and she became his wife; and he went in to her, and the LORD gave her conception, and she bore a son. | וַיִּקַּח בֹּעַז אֶת־רוּת וַתְּהִי־לֹו לְאִשָּׁה וַיָּבֹא אֵלֶיהָ וַיִּתֵּן יְהוָה לָהּ הֵרָיֹון וַתֵּלֶד בֵּן׃ |

καὶ εἶπαν αἱ γυναῖκες πρὸς Νωεμιν Εὐλογητὸς κύριος, ὃς οὐ κατέλυσέ σοι σήμερον τὸν ἀγχιστέα, καὶ καλέσαι τὸ ὄνομά σου ἐν Ισραηλ, |
And the woman said to Noemin, Blessed [is] the Lord, who has not suffered a redeemer to fail thee this day, even to make thy name famous in Israel. |

Then the women said to Na'omi, "Blessed be the LORD, who has not left you this day without next of kin; and may his name be renowned in Israel! | וַתֹּאמַרְנָה הַנָּשִׁים אֶל־נָעֳמִי בָּרוּךְ יְהוָה אֲשֶׁר לֹא הִשְׁבִּית לָךְ גֹּאֵל הַיֹּום וְיִקָּרֵא שְׁמֹו בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל׃ |

καὶ ἔσται σοι εἰς ἐπιστρέφοντα ψυχὴν καὶ τοῦ διαθρέψαι τὴν πολιάν σου, ὅτι ἡ νύμφη σου ἡ ἀγαπήσασά σε ἔτεκεν αὐτόν, ἥ ἐστιν ἀγαθή σοι ὑπὲρ ἑπτὰ υἱούς. |
And he shall be to thee a restorer of thy soul, and one to cherish thy old age; for thy daughter-in-law which has loved thee, who is better to thee than seven sons, ha born him. |

He shall be to you a restorer of life and a nourisher of your old age; for your daughter-in-law who loves you, who is more to you than seven sons, has borne him." | וְהָיָה לָךְ לְמֵשִׁיב נֶפֶשׁ וּלְכַלְכֵּל אֶת־שֵׂיבָתֵךְ כִּי כַלָּתֵךְ אֲשֶׁר־אֲהֵבַתֶךְ יְלָדַתּוּ אֲשֶׁר־הִיא טֹובָה לָךְ מִשִּׁבְעָה בָּנִים׃ |

καὶ ἔλαβεν Νωεμιν τὸ παιδίον καὶ ἔθηκεν εἰς τὸν κόλπον αὐτῆς καὶ ἐγενήθη αὐτῷ εἰς τιθηνόν. |
And Noemin took the child and laid it in her bosom, and became a nurse to it. |

Then Na'omi took the child and laid him in her bosom, and became his nurse. | וַתִּקַּח נָעֳמִי אֶת־הַיֶּלֶד וַתְּשִׁתֵהוּ בְחֵיקָהּ וַתְּהִי־לֹו לְאֹמֶנֶת׃ |

καὶ ἐκάλεσαν αὐτοῦ αἱ γείτονες ὄνομα λέγουσαι Ἑτέχθη υἱὸς τῇ Νωεμιν· καὶ ἐκάλεσαν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ωβηδ· οὗτος πατὴρ Ιεσσαι πατρὸς Δαυιδ. |
And the neighbours gave it a name, saying, A son has been born to Noemin; and they called his name Obed; this [is] the father of Jessae the father of David. |

And the women of the neighbourhood gave him a name, saying, "A son has been born to Na'omi." They named him Obed; he was the father of Jesse, the father of David. | וַתִּקְרֶאנָה לֹו הַשְּׁכֵנֹות שֵׁם לֵאמֹר יֻלַּד־בֵּן לְנָעֳמִי וַתִּקְרֶאנָה שְׁמֹו עֹובֵד הוּא אֲבִי־יִשַׁי אֲבִי דָוִד׃ ף |

Καὶ αὗται αἱ γενέσεις Φαρες· Φαρες ἐγέννησεν τὸν Εσρων, |
And these [are] the generations of Phares: Phares begot Esrom: |

Now these are the descendants of Perez: Perez was the father of Hezron, | וְאֵלֶּה תֹּולְדֹות פָּרֶץ פֶּרֶץ הֹולִיד אֶת־חֶצְרֹון׃ |

Εσρων δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Αρραν, καὶ Αρραν ἐγέννησεν τὸν Αμιναδαβ, |
Esrom begot Aram; and Aram begot Aminadab. |

Hezron of Ram, Ram of Ammin'adab, | וְחֶצְרֹון הֹולִיד אֶת־רָם וְרָם הֹולִיד אֶת־עַמִּינָדָב׃ |

καὶ Αμιναδαβ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ναασσων, καὶ Ναασσων ἐγέννησεν τὸν Σαλμαν, |
And Aminadab begot Naasson; and Naasson begot Salmon. |

καὶ Σαλμαν ἐγέννησεν τὸν Βοος, καὶ Βοος ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ωβηδ, |
And Salmon begot Booz; and Booz begot Obed. |

καὶ Ωβηδ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ιεσσαι, καὶ Ιεσσαι ἐγέννησεν τὸν Δαυιδ. |
And Obed begot Jessae; and Jessae begot David. |

Obed of Jesse, and Jesse of David. | וְעֹבֵד הֹולִיד אֶת־יִשָׁי וְיִשַׁי הֹולִיד אֶת־דָּוִד׃ |
