| 1 | Καὶ ἐλάλησεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν ἐπὶ δυσμῶν Μωαβ παρὰ τὸν Ιορδάνην κατὰ Ιεριχω λέγων |
And the Lord spoke to Moses to the west of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying, | The Levite cities. Nu.35.1-8 | The LORD said to Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho, | וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֶל־מֹשֶׁה בְּעַרְבֹת מֹואָב עַל־יַרְדֵּן יְרֵחֹו לֵאמֹר׃ |

| 2 | Σύνταξον τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ καὶ δώσουσιν τοῖς Λευίταις ἀπὸ τῶν κλήρων κατασχέσεως αὐτῶν πόλεις κατοικεῖν καὶ τὰ προάστεια τῶν πόλεων κύκλῳ αὐτῶν δώσουσιν τοῖς Λευίταις, |
Give orders to the children of Israel, and they shall give to the Levites cities to dwell in from the lot of their possession, and they shall give to the Levites the suburbs of the cities round about them. | | "Command the people of Israel, that they give to the Levites, from the inheritance of their possession, cities to dwell in; and you shall give to the Levites pasture lands round about the cities. | צַו אֶת־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְנָתְנוּ לַלְוִיִּם מִנַּחֲלַת אֲחֻזָּתָם עָרִים לָשָׁבֶת וּמִגְרָשׁ לֶעָרִים סְבִיבֹתֵיהֶם תִּתְּנוּ לַלְוִיִּם׃ |

| 3 | καὶ ἔσονται αὐτοῖς αἱ πόλεις κατοικεῖν, καὶ τὰ ἀφορίσματα αὐτῶν ἔσται τοῖς κτήνεσιν αὐτῶν καὶ πᾶσι τοῖς τετράποσιν αὐτῶν. |
And the cities shall be for them to dwell in, and their enclosures shall be for their cattle and all their beasts. | | The cities shall be theirs to dwell in, and their pasture lands shall be for their cattle and for their livestock and for all their beasts. | וְהָיוּ הֶעָרִים לָהֶם לָשָׁבֶת וּמִגְרְשֵׁיהֶם יִהְיוּ לִבְהֶמְתָּם וְלִרְכֻשָׁם וּלְכֹל חַיָּתָם׃ |

| 4 | καὶ τὰ συγκυροῦντα τῶν πόλεων, ἃς δώσετε τοῖς Λευίταις, ἀπὸ τείχους τῆς πόλεως καὶ ἔξω δισχιλίους πήχεις κύκλῳ· |
And the suburbs of the cities which you shall give to the Levites, shall be from the wall of the city and outwards two thousand cubits round about. | | The pasture lands of the cities, which you shall give to the Levites, shall reach from the wall of the city outward a thousand cubits all round. | וּמִגְרְשֵׁי הֶעָרִים אֲשֶׁר תִּתְּנוּ לַלְוִיִּם מִקִּיר הָעִיר וָחוּצָה אֶלֶף אַמָּה סָבִיב׃ |

| 5 | καὶ μετρήσεις ἔξω τῆς πόλεως τὸ κλίτος τὸ πρὸς ἀνατολὰς δισχιλίους πήχεις καὶ τὸ κλίτος τὸ πρὸς λίβα δισχιλίους πήχεις καὶ τὸ κλίτος τὸ πρὸς θάλασσαν δισχιλίους πήχεις καὶ τὸ κλίτος τὸ πρὸς βορρᾶν δισχιλίους πήχεις, καὶ ἡ πόλις μέσον τούτου ἔσται ὑμῖν καὶ τὰ ὅμορα τῶν πόλεων. |
And you shall measure outside the city on the east side two thousand cubits, and on the south side two thousand cubits, and on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits; and your city shall be in the midst of this, and the suburbs of the cities [as described]. | | And you shall measure, outside the city, for the east side two thousand cubits, and for the south side two thousand cubits, and for the west side two thousand cubits, and for the north side two thousand cubits, the city being in the middle; this shall belong to them as pasture land for their cities. | וּמַדֹּתֶם מִחוּץ לָעִיר אֶת־פְּאַת־קֵדְמָה אַלְפַּיִם בָּאַמָּה וְאֶת־פְּאַת־נֶגֶב אַלְפַּיִם בָּאַמָּה וְאֶת־פְּאַת־יָם אַלְפַּיִם בָּאַמָּה וְאֵת פְּאַת צָפֹון אַלְפַּיִם בָּאַמָּה וְהָעִיר בַּתָּוֶךְ זֶה יִהְיֶה לָהֶם מִגְרְשֵׁי הֶעָרִים׃ |

| 6 | καὶ τὰς πόλεις δώσετε τοῖς Λευίταις, τὰς ἓξ πόλεις τῶν φυγαδευτηρίων, ἃς δώσετε φεύγειν ἐκεῖ τῷ φονεύσαντι, καὶ πρὸς ταύταις τεσσαράκοντα καὶ δύο πόλεις· |
And you shall give the cities to the Levites, the six cities of refuge which you shall give for the slayer to flee thither, and in addition to these, forty-two cities. | | The cities which you give to the Levites shall be the six cities of refuge, where you shall permit the manslayer to flee, and in addition to them you shall give forty-two cities. | וְאֵת הֶעָרִים אֲשֶׁר תִּתְּנוּ לַלְוִיִּם אֵת שֵׁשׁ־עָרֵי הַמִּקְלָט אֲשֶׁר תִּתְּנוּ לָנֻס שָׁמָּה הָרֹצֵחַ וַעֲלֵיהֶם תִּתְּנוּ אַרְבָּעִים וּשְׁתַּיִם עִיר׃ |

| 7 | πάσας τὰς πόλεις δώσετε τοῖς Λευίταις, τεσσαράκοντα καὶ ὀκτὼ πόλεις, ταύτας καὶ τὰ προάστεια αὐτῶν. |
Ye shall give to the Levites in all forty-eight cities, them and their suburbs. | | All the cities which you give to the Levites shall be forty-eight, with their pasture lands. | כָּל־הֶעָרִים אֲשֶׁר תִּתְּנוּ לַלְוִיִּם אַרְבָּעִים וּשְׁמֹנֶה עִיר אֶתְהֶן וְאֶת־מִגְרְשֵׁיהֶן׃ |

| 8 | καὶ τὰς πόλεις, ἃς δώσετε ἀπὸ τῆς κατασχέσεως υἱῶν Ισραηλ, ἀπὸ τῶν τὰ πολλὰ πολλὰ καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ἐλαττόνων ἐλάττω· ἕκαστος κατὰ τὴν κληρονομίαν αὐτοῦ, ἣν κληρονομήσουσιν, δώσουσιν ἀπὸ τῶν πόλεων τοῖς Λευίταις. |
And as for the cities which you shall give out of the possession of the children of Israel, from those [that have] much [you shall give] much, and from those that have less you shall give less: they shall give of their cities to the Levites each one according to his inheritance which they shall inherit. | | And as for the cities which you shall give from the possession of the people of Israel, from the larger tribes you shall take many, and from the smaller tribes you shall take few; each, in proportion to the inheritance which it inherits, shall give of its cities to the Levites." | וְהֶעָרִים אֲשֶׁר תִּתְּנוּ מֵאֲחֻזַּת בְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל מֵאֵת הָרַב תַּרְבּוּ וּמֵאֵת הַמְעַט תַּמְעִיטוּ אִישׁ כְּפִי נַחֲלָתֹו אֲשֶׁר יִנְחָלוּ יִתֵּן מֵעָרָיו לַלְוִיִּם׃ ף |

| 10 | Λάλησον τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτούς Ὑμεῖς διαβαίνετε τὸν Ιορδάνην εἰς γῆν Χανααν |
Speak to the children of Israel, and you shall say to them, Ye are to cross over Jordan into the land of Chanaan. | | "Say to the people of Israel, When you cross the Jordan into the land of Canaan, | דַּבֵּר אֶל־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵהֶם כִּי אַתֶּם עֹבְרִים אֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּן אַרְצָה כְּנָעַן׃ |

| 11 | καὶ διαστελεῖτε ὑμῖν αὐτοῖς πόλεις· φυγαδευτήρια ἔσται ὑμῖν φυγεῖν ἐκεῖ τὸν φονευτήν, πᾶς ὁ πατάξας ψυχὴν ἀκουσίως. |
And you shall appoint to yourselves cities: they shall be to you cities of refuge for the slayer to flee to, every one who has killed another unintentionally. | | then you shall select cities to be cities of refuge for you, that the manslayer who kills any person without intent may flee there. | וְהִקְרִיתֶם לָכֶם עָרִים עָרֵי מִקְלָט תִּהְיֶינָה לָכֶם וְנָס שָׁמָּה רֹצֵחַ מַכֵּה־נֶפֶשׁ בִּשְׁגָגָה׃ |

| 12 | καὶ ἔσονται αἱ πόλεις ὑμῖν φυγαδευτήρια ἀπὸ ἀγχιστεύοντος τὸ αἷμα, καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀποθάνῃ ὁ φονεύων, ἕως ἂν στῇ ἔναντι τῆς συναγωγῆς εἰς κρίσιν. |
And the cities shall be to you places of refuge from the avenger of blood, and the slayer shall not die until he stands before the congregation for judgment. | | The cities shall be for you a refuge from the avenger, that the manslayer may not die until he stands before the congregation for judgment. | וְהָיוּ לָכֶם הֶעָרִים לְמִקְלָט מִגֹּאֵל וְלֹא יָמוּת הָרֹצֵחַ עַד־עָמְדֹו לִפְנֵי הָעֵדָה לַמִּשְׁפָּט׃ |

| 13 | καὶ αἱ πόλεις, ἃς δώσετε, τὰς ἓξ πόλεις, φυγαδευτήρια ἔσονται ὑμῖν· |
And the cities which you shall assign, [even] the six cities, shall be places of refuge for you. | | And the cities which you give shall be your six cities of refuge. | וְהֶעָרִים אֲשֶׁר תִּתֵּנוּ שֵׁשׁ־עָרֵי מִקְלָט תִּהְיֶינָה לָכֶם׃ |

| 14 | τὰς τρεῖς πόλεις δώσετε ἐν τῷ πέραν τοῦ Ιορδάνου καὶ τὰς τρεῖς πόλεις δώσετε ἐν γῇ Χανααν· |
Ye shall assign three cities on the other side of Jordan, and you shall assign three cities in the land of Chanaan. | | You shall give three cities beyond the Jordan, and three cities in the land of Canaan, to be cities of refuge. | אֵת שְׁלֹשׁ הֶעָרִים תִּתְּנוּ מֵעֵבֶר לַיַּרְדֵּן וְאֵת שְׁלֹשׁ הֶעָרִים תִּתְּנוּ בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנָעַן עָרֵי מִקְלָט תִּהְיֶינָה׃ |

| 15 | φυγάδιον ἔσται τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ, καὶ τῷ προσηλύτῳ καὶ τῷ παροίκῳ τῷ ἐν ὑμῖν ἔσονται αἱ πόλεις αὗται εἰς φυγαδευτήριον φυγεῖν ἐκεῖ παντὶ πατάξαντι ψυχὴν ἀκουσίως. - |
It shall be a place of refuge for the children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for him that sojourns among you; these cities shall be for a place of refuge, for every one to flee thither who has killed a man unintentionally. | | These six cities shall be for refuge for the people of Israel, and for the stranger and for the sojourner among them, that any one who kills any person without intent may flee there. | לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְלַגֵּר וְלַתֹּושָׁב בְּתֹוכָם תִּהְיֶינָה שֵׁשׁ־הֶעָרִים הָאֵלֶּה לְמִקְלָט לָנוּס שָׁמָּה כָּל־מַכֵּה־נֶפֶשׁ בִּשְׁגָגָה׃ |

| 16 | ἐὰν δὲ ἐν σκεύει σιδήρου πατάξῃ αὐτόν, καὶ τελευτήσῃ, φονευτής ἐστιν· θανάτῳ θανατούσθω ὁ φονευτής. |
And if he should smite him with an iron instrument, and the man should die, he is a murderer; let the murderer by all means be put to death. | | "But if he struck him down with an instrument of iron, so that he died, he is a murderer; the murderer shall be put to death. | וְאִם־בִּכְלִי בַרְזֶל הִכָּהוּ וַיָּמֹת רֹצֵחַ הוּא מֹות יוּמַת הָרֹצֵחַ׃ |

| 17 | ἐὰν δὲ ἐν λίθῳ ἐκ χειρός, ἐν ᾧ ἀποθανεῖται ἐν αὐτῷ, πατάξῃ αὐτόν, καὶ ἀποθάνῃ, φονευτής ἐστιν· θανάτῳ θανατούσθω ὁ φονευτής. |
And if he should smite him with a stone [thrown] from his hand, whereby a man may die, and he [thus] die, he is a murderer; let the murderer by all means be put to death. | | And if he struck him down with a stone in the hand, by which a man may die, and he died, he is a murderer; the murderer shall be put to death. | וְאִם בְּאֶבֶן יָד אֲשֶׁר־יָמוּת בָּהּ הִכָּהוּ וַיָּמֹת רֹצֵחַ הוּא מֹות יוּמַת הָרֹצֵחַ׃ |
17 |
| 18 | ἐὰν δὲ ἐν σκεύει ξυλίνῳ ἐκ χειρός, ἐξ οὗ ἀποθανεῖται ἐν αὐτῷ, πατάξῃ αὐτόν, καὶ ἀποθάνῃ, φονευτής ἐστιν· θανάτῳ θανατούσθω ὁ φονευτής. |
And if he should smite him with an instrument of wood from his hand, whereby he may die, and he [thus] die, he is a murderer; let the murderer by all means be put to death. | | Or if he struck him down with a weapon of wood in the hand, by which a man may die, and he died, he is a murderer; the murderer shall be put to death. | אֹו בִּכְלִי עֵץ־יָד אֲשֶׁר־יָמוּת בֹּו הִכָּהוּ וַיָּמֹת רֹצֵחַ הוּא מֹות יוּמַת הָרֹצֵחַ׃ |
18 |
| 19 | ὁ ἀγχιστεύων τὸ αἷμα, οὗτος ἀποκτενεῖ τὸν φονεύσαντα· ὅταν συναντήσῃ αὐτῷ, οὗτος ἀποκτενεῖ αὐτόν. |
The avenger of blood himself shall slay the murderer: whenever he shall meet him he shall slay him. | | The avenger of blood shall himself put the murderer to death; when he meets him, he shall put him to death. | גֹּאֵל הַדָּם הוּא יָמִית אֶת־הָרֹצֵחַ בְּפִגְעֹו־בֹו הוּא יְמִיתֶנּוּ׃ |

| 20 | ἐὰν δὲ δι' ἔχθραν ὤσῃ αὐτὸν καὶ ἐπιρρίψῃ ἐπ' αὐτὸν πᾶν σκεῦος ἐξ ἐνέδρου, καὶ ἀποθάνῃ, |
And if he should thrust him through enmity, or cast any thing upon him from an ambuscade, and the man should die, | | And if he stabbed him from hatred, or hurled at him, lying in wait, so that he died, | וְאִם־בְּשִׂנְאָה יֶהְדָּפֶנּוּ אֹו־הִשְׁלִיךְ עָלָיו בִּצְדִיָּה וַיָּמֹת׃ |

| 21 | ἢ διὰ μῆνιν ἐπάταξεν αὐτὸν τῇ χειρί, καὶ ἀποθάνῃ, θανάτῳ θανατούσθω ὁ πατάξας, φονευτής ἐστιν· θανάτῳ θανατούσθω ὁ φονεύων· ὁ ἀγχιστεύων τὸ αἷμα ἀποκτενεῖ τὸν φονεύσαντα ἐν τῷ συναντῆσαι αὐτῷ. - |
or if he have smitten him with his hand through anger, and the man should die, let the man that smote him be put to death by all means, he is a murderer: let the murderer by all means be put to death: the avenger of blood shall slay the murderer when he meets him. | | or in enmity struck him down with his hand, so that he died, then he who struck the blow shall be put to death; he is a murderer; the avenger of blood shall put the murderer to death, when he meets him. | אֹו בְאֵיבָה הִכָּהוּ בְיָדֹו וַיָּמֹת מֹות־יוּמַת הַמַּכֶּה רֹצֵחַ הוּא גֹּאֵל הַדָּם יָמִית אֶת־הָרֹצֵחַ בְּפִגְעֹו־בֹו׃ |

| 22 | ἐὰν δὲ ἐξάπινα οὐ δι' ἔχθραν ὤσῃ αὐτὸν ἢ ἐπιρρίψῃ ἐπ' αὐτὸν πᾶν σκεῦος οὐκ ἐξ ἐνέδρου |
But if he should thrust him suddenly, not through enmity, or cast any thing upon him, not from an ambuscade, | | "But if he stabbed him suddenly without enmity, or hurled anything on him without lying in wait, | וְאִם־בְּפֶתַע בְּלֹא־אֵיבָה הֲדָפֹו אֹו־הִשְׁלִיךְ עָלָיו כָּל־כְּלִי בְּלֹא צְדִיָּה׃ |

| 23 | ἢ παντὶ λίθῳ, ἐν ᾧ ἀποθανεῖται ἐν αὐτῷ, οὐκ εἰδώς, καὶ ἐπιπέσῃ ἐπ' αὐτόν, καὶ ἀποθάνῃ, αὐτὸς δὲ οὐκ ἐχθρὸς αὐτοῦ ἦν οὐδὲ ζητῶν κακοποιῆσαι αὐτόν, |
or [smite him] with any stone, whereby a man may die, unawares, and it should fall upon him, and he should die, but he was not his enemy, nor sought to hurt him; | | or used a stone, by which a man may die, and without seeing him cast it upon him, so that he died, though he was not his enemy, and did not seek his harm; | אֹו בְכָל־אֶבֶן אֲשֶׁר־יָמוּת בָּהּ בְּלֹא רְאֹות וַיַּפֵּל עָלָיו וַיָּמֹת וְהוּא לֹא־אֹויֵב לֹו וְלֹא מְבַקֵּשׁ רָעָתֹו׃ |
23 |
| 24 | καὶ κρινεῖ ἡ συναγωγὴ ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ πατάξαντος καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ ἀγχιστεύοντος τὸ αἷμα κατὰ τὰ κρίματα ταῦτα, |
then the assembly shall judge between the smiter and the avenger of blood, according to these judgments. | | then the congregation shall judge between the manslayer and the avenger of blood, in accordance with these ordinances; | וְשָׁפְטוּ הָעֵדָה בֵּין הַמַּכֶּה וּבֵין גֹּאֵל הַדָּם עַל הַמִּשְׁפָּטִים הָאֵלֶּה׃ |

| 25 | καὶ ἐξελεῖται ἡ συναγωγὴ τὸν φονεύσαντα ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀγχιστεύοντος τὸ αἷμα, καὶ ἀποκαταστήσουσιν αὐτὸν ἡ συναγωγὴ εἰς τὴν πόλιν τοῦ φυγαδευτηρίου αὐτοῦ, οὗ κατέφυγεν, καὶ κατοικήσει ἐκεῖ, ἕως ἂν ἀποθάνῃ ὁ ἱερεὺς ὁ μέγας, ὃν ἔχρισαν αὐτὸν τῷ ἐλαίῳ τῷ ἁγίῳ. |
And the congregation shall rescue the slayer from the avenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to his city of refuge, whither he fled for refuge; and he shall dwell there till the death of the high-priest, whom they anointed with the holy oil. | | and the congregation shall rescue the manslayer from the hand of the avenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to his city of refuge, to which he had fled, and he shall live in it until the death of the high priest who was anointed with the holy oil. | וְהִצִּילוּ הָעֵדָה אֶת־הָרֹצֵחַ מִיַּד גֹּאֵל הַדָּם וְהֵשִׁיבוּ אֹתֹו הָעֵדָה אֶל־עִיר מִקְלָטֹו אֲשֶׁר־נָס שָׁמָּה וְיָשַׁב בָּהּ עַד־מֹות הַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדֹל אֲשֶׁר־מָשַׁח אֹתֹו בְּשֶׁמֶן הַקֹּדֶשׁ׃ |

| 26 | ἐὰν δὲ ἐξόδῳ ἐξέλθῃ ὁ φονεύσας τὰ ὅρια τῆς πόλεως, εἰς ἣν κατέφυγεν ἐκεῖ, |
But if the slayer should in any wise go out beyond the bounds of the city whither he fled for refuge, | | But if the manslayer shall at any time go beyond the bounds of his city of refuge to which he fled, | וְאִם־יָצֹא יֵצֵא הָרֹצֵחַ אֶת־גְּבוּל עִיר מִקְלָטֹו אֲשֶׁר יָנוּס שָׁמָּה׃ |
26 |
| 27 | καὶ εὕρῃ αὐτὸν ὁ ἀγχιστεύων τὸ αἷμα ἔξω τῶν ὁρίων τῆς πόλεως καταφυγῆς αὐτοῦ καὶ φονεύσῃ ὁ ἀγχιστεύων τὸ αἷμα τὸν φονεύσαντα, οὐκ ἔνοχός ἐστιν· |
and the avenger of blood should find him without the bounds of the city of his refuge, and the avenger of blood should kill the slayer, he is not guilty. | | and the avenger of blood finds him outside the bounds of his city of refuge, and the avenger of blood slays the manslayer, he shall not be guilty of blood. | וּמָצָא אֹתֹו גֹּאֵל הַדָּם מִחוּץ לִגְבוּל עִיר מִקְלָטֹו וְרָצַח גֹּאֵל הַדָּם אֶת־הָרֹצֵחַ אֵין לֹו דָּם׃ |
27 |
| 28 | ἐν γὰρ τῇ πόλει τῆς καταφυγῆς κατοικείτω, ἕως ἂν ἀποθάνῃ ὁ ἱερεὺς ὁ μέγας, καὶ μετὰ τὸ ἀποθανεῖν τὸν ἱερέα τὸν μέγαν ἐπαναστραφήσεται ὁ φονεύσας εἰς τὴν γῆν τῆς κατασχέσεως αὐτοῦ. |
For he ought to have remained in the city of refuge till the high-priest died; and after the death of the high-priest the slayer shall return to the land of his possession. | | For the man must remain in his city of refuge until the death of the high priest; but after the death of the high priest the manslayer may return to the land of his possession. | כִּי בְעִיר מִקְלָטֹו יֵשֵׁב עַד־מֹות הַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדֹל וְאַחֲרֵי מֹות הַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדֹל יָשׁוּב הָרֹצֵחַ אֶל־אֶרֶץ אֲחֻזָּתֹו׃ |

| 29 | καὶ ἔσται ταῦτα ὑμῖν εἰς δικαίωμα κρίματος εἰς τὰς γενεὰς ὑμῶν ἐν πάσαις ταῖς κατοικίαις ὑμῶν. - |
And these things shall be to you for an ordinance of judgment throughout your generations in all your dwellings. | | "And these things shall be for a statute and ordinance to you throughout your generations in all your dwellings. | וְהָיוּ אֵלֶּה לָכֶם לְחֻקַּת מִשְׁפָּט לְדֹרֹתֵיכֶם בְּכֹל מֹושְׁבֹתֵיכֶם׃ |

| 30 | πᾶς πατάξας ψυχήν, διὰ μαρτύρων φονεύσεις τὸν φονεύσαντα, καὶ μάρτυς εἷς οὐ μαρτυρήσει ἐπὶ ψυχὴν ἀποθανεῖν. |
Whoever kills a man, you shall slay the murderer on the testimony of witnesses; and one witness shall not testify against a soul that he should die. | | If any one kills a person, the murderer shall be put to death on the evidence of witnesses; but no person shall be put to death on the testimony of one witness. | כָּל־מַכֵּה־נֶפֶשׁ לְפִי עֵדִים יִרְצַח אֶת־הָרֹצֵחַ וְעֵד אֶחָד לֹא־יַעֲנֶה בְנֶפֶשׁ לָמוּת׃ |

| 31 | καὶ οὐ λήμψεσθε λύτρα περὶ ψυχῆς παρὰ τοῦ φονεύσαντος τοῦ ἐνόχου ὄντος ἀναιρεθῆναι· θανάτῳ γὰρ θανατωθήσεται. |
And you shall not accept ransoms for life from a murderer who is worthy of death, for he shall be surely put to death. | | Moreover you shall accept no ransom for the life of a murderer, who is guilty of death; but he shall be put to death. | וְלֹא־תִקְחוּ כֹפֶר לְנֶפֶשׁ רֹצֵחַ אֲשֶׁר־הוּא רָשָׁע לָמוּת כִּי־מֹות יוּמָת׃ |
31 |
| 32 | οὐ λήμψεσθε λύτρα τοῦ φυγεῖν εἰς πόλιν τῶν φυγαδευτηρίων τοῦ πάλιν κατοικεῖν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, ἕως ἂν ἀποθάνῃ ὁ ἱερεὺς ὁ μέγας. |
Ye shall not accept a ransom [to excuse] his fleeing to the city of refuge, so that he should again dwell in the land, until the death of the high-priest. | | And you shall accept no ransom for him who has fled to his city of refuge, that he may return to dwell in the land before the death of the high priest. | וְלֹא־תִקְחוּ כֹפֶר לָנוּס אֶל־עִיר מִקְלָטֹו לָשׁוּב לָשֶׁבֶת בָּאָרֶץ עַד־מֹות הַכֹּהֵן׃ |
32 |
| 33 | καὶ οὐ μὴ φονοκτονήσητε τὴν γῆν, εἰς ἣν ὑμεῖς κατοικεῖτε· τὸ γὰρ αἷμα τοῦτο φονοκτονεῖ τὴν γῆν, καὶ οὐκ ἐξιλασθήσεται ἡ γῆ ἀπὸ τοῦ αἵματος τοῦ ἐκχυθέντος ἐπ' αὐτῆς, ἀλλ' ἐπὶ τοῦ αἵματος τοῦ ἐκχέοντος. |
So shall you not pollute with murder the land in which you dwell; for this blood pollutes the land, and the land shall not be purged from the blood shed upon it, but by the blood of him that shed it. | | You shall not thus pollute the land in which you live; for blood pollutes the land, and no expiation can be made for the land, for the blood that is shed in it, except by the blood of him who shed it. | וְלֹא־תַחֲנִיפוּ אֶת־הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר אַתֶּם בָּהּ כִּי הַדָּם הוּא יַחֲנִיף אֶת־הָאָרֶץ וְלָאָרֶץ לֹא־יְכֻפַּר לַדָּם אֲשֶׁר שֻׁפַּךְ־בָּהּ כִּי־אִם בְּדַם שֹׁפְכֹו׃ |
33 |
| 34 | καὶ οὐ μιανεῖτε τὴν γῆν, ἐφ' ἧς κατοικεῖτε ἐπ' αὐτῆς, ἐφ' ἧς ἐγὼ κατασκηνώσω ἐν ὑμῖν· ἐγὼ γάρ εἰμι κύριος κατασκηνῶν ἐν μέσῳ τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ. |
And you shall no defile the land whereon you dwell, on which I dwell in the midst of you; for I am the Lord dwelling in the midst of the children of Israel. | | You shall not defile the land in which you live, in the midst of which I dwell; for I the LORD dwell in the midst of the people of Israel." | וְלֹא תְטַמֵּא אֶת־הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר אַתֶּם יֹשְׁבִים בָּהּ אֲשֶׁר אֲנִי שֹׁכֵן בְּתֹוכָהּ כִּי אֲנִי יְהוָה שֹׁכֵן בְּתֹוךְ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל׃ ף |
