1Ἀκούσατε τὸν λόγον τοῦτον, ὃν ἐλάλησεν κύριος ἐφ' ὑμᾶς, οἶκος Ισραηλ, καὶ κατὰ πάσης φυλῆς, ἧς ἀνήγαγον ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου, λέγων Hear you this word, O house of Israel, which the Lord has spoken concerning you, and against the whole family whom I brought up out of the land of Egypt, saying, Hear this word that the LORD has spoken against you, O people of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up out of the land of Egypt:שִׁמְעוּ אֶת־הַדָּבָר הַזֶּה אֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר יְהוָה עֲלֵיכֶם בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל עַל כָּל־הַמִּשְׁפָּחָה אֲשֶׁר הֶעֱלֵיתִי מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם לֵאמֹר׃ 1

of all the families of the earth;
therefore I will punish you
for all your iniquities.
רַק אֶתְכֶם יָדַעְתִּי מִכֹּל מִשְׁפְּחֹות הָאֲדָמָה
עַל־כֵּן אֶפְקֹד עֲלֵיכֶם אֵת כָּל־עֲוֹנֹתֵיכֶם׃ 		2

when he has no prey?
Does a young lion cry out from his den,
if he has taken nothing?
הֲיִשְׁאַג אַרְיֵה בַּיַּעַר וְטֶרֶף אֵין לֹו

הֲתִפֹּל צִפֹּור עַל־פַּח הָאָרֶץ וּמֹוקֵשׁ אֵין לָהּ
הֲיַעֲלֶה־פַּח מִן־הָאֲדָמָה וְלָכֹוד לֹא יִלְכֹּוד׃ 		5

and the people are not afraid?
Does evil befall a city,
unless the LORD has done it?

7διότι οὐ μὴ ποιήσῃ κύριος ὁ θεὸς πρᾶγμα, ἐὰν μὴ ἀποκαλύψῃ παιδείαν αὐτοῦ πρὸς τοὺς δούλους αὐτοῦ τοὺς προφήτας. For the Lord God will do nothing, without revealing instruction to his servants the prophets. Surely the Lord GOD does nothing,
without revealing his secret
to his servants the prophets.
כִּי לֹא יַעֲשֶׂה אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה דָּבָר
כִּי אִם־גָּלָה סֹודֹו אֶל־עֲבָדָיו הַנְּבִיאִים׃ 		7
7διότι οὐ μὴ ποιήσῃ κύριος ὁ θεὸς πρᾶγμα, ἐὰν μὴ ἀποκαλύψῃ παιδείαν αὐτοῦ πρὸς τοὺς δούλους αὐτοῦ τοὺς προφήτας. For the Lord God will do nothing, without revealing instruction to his servants the prophets. Surely the Lord GOD does nothing,

9Ἀπαγγείλατε χώραις ἐν Ἀσσυρίοις καὶ ἐπὶ τὰς χώρας τῆς Αἰγύπτου καὶ εἴπατε Συνάχθητε ἐπὶ τὸ ὄρος Σαμαρείας καὶ ἴδετε θαυμαστὰ πολλὰ ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῆς καὶ τὴν καταδυναστείαν τὴν ἐν αὐτῇ· Proclaim it to the regions among the Assyrians, and to the regions of Egypt, and say, Gather yourselves to the mountain of Samaria, and behold many wonderful things in the midst of it, and the oppression that is in it.The doom of Samaria. Am.3.9-4.3Proclaim to the strongholds in Assyria,
and to the strongholds in the land of Egypt,
and say, "Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Sama'ria,
and see the great tumults within her,
and the oppressions in her midst."
הַשְׁמִיעוּ עַל־אַרְמְנֹות בְּאַשְׁדֹּוד וְעַל־אַרְמְנֹות בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם
וְאִמְרוּ הֵאָסְפוּ עַל־הָרֵי שֹׁמְרֹון
וּרְאוּ מְהוּמֹת רַבֹּות בְּתֹוכָהּ וַעֲשׁוּקִים בְּקִרְבָּהּ׃ 		9

"those who store up violence and robbery in their strongholds."
וְלֹא־יָדְעוּ עֲשֹׂות־נְכֹחָה נְאֻם־יְהוָה הָאֹוצְרִים חָמָס וָשֹׁד בְּאַרְמְנֹותֵיהֶם׃ ף 10
10καὶ οὐκ ἔγνω ἃ ἔσται ἐναντίον αὐτῆς, λέγει κύριος, οἱ θησαυρίζοντες ἀδικίαν καὶ ταλαιπωρίαν ἐν ταῖς χώραις αὐτῶν. And she knew not what things would come against her, says the Lord, [even] those that store up wrong and misery in their countries. "They do not know how to do right," says the LORD,

11διὰ τοῦτο τάδε λέγει κύριος ὁ θεός Τύρος, κυκλόθεν ἡ γῆ σου ἐρημωθήσεται, καὶ κατάξει ἐκ σοῦ ἰσχύν σου, καὶ διαρπαγήσονται αἱ χῶραί σου. Therefore thus says the Lord God; O Tyre, your land shall be made desolate round about [you]; and he shall bring down your strength out of you, and your countries shall be spoiled. Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:
"An adversary shall surround the land,
and bring down your defenses from you,
and your strongholds shall be plundered."		לָכֵן כֹּה אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה צַר וּסְבִיב הָאָרֶץ
וְהֹורִד מִמֵּךְ עֻזֵּךְ וְנָבֹזּוּ אַרְמְנֹותָיִךְ׃ 		11
11διὰ τοῦτο τάδε λέγει κύριος ὁ θεός Τύρος, κυκλόθεν ἡ γῆ σου ἐρημωθήσεται, καὶ κατάξει ἐκ σοῦ ἰσχύν σου, καὶ διαρπαγήσονται αἱ χῶραί σου. Therefore thus says the Lord God; O Tyre, your land shall be made desolate round about [you]; and he shall bring down your strength out of you, and your countries shall be spoiled. Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:
"An adversary shall surround the land,
and bring down your defenses from you,

11διὰ τοῦτο τάδε λέγει κύριος ὁ θεός Τύρος, κυκλόθεν ἡ γῆ σου ἐρημωθήσεται, καὶ κατάξει ἐκ σοῦ ἰσχύν σου, καὶ διαρπαγήσονται αἱ χῶραί σου. Therefore thus says the Lord God; O Tyre, your land shall be made desolate round about [you]; and he shall bring down your strength out of you, and your countries shall be spoiled. Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:
"An adversary shall surround the land,
and bring down your defenses from you,
and your strongholds shall be plundered."		לָכֵן כֹּה אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה צַר וּסְבִיב הָאָרֶץ
וְהֹורִד מִמֵּךְ עֻזֵּךְ וְנָבֹזּוּ אַרְמְנֹותָיִךְ׃ 		11
12τάδε λέγει κύριος Ὃν τρόπον ὅταν ἐκσπάσῃ ὁ ποιμὴν ἐκ στόματος τοῦ λέοντος δύο σκέλη ἢ λοβὸν ὠτίου, οὕτως ἐκσπασθήσονται οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ οἱ κατοικοῦντες ἐν Σαμαρείᾳ κατέναντι φυλῆς καὶ ἐν Δαμασκῷ ἱερεῖς. Thus says the Lord; As when a shepherd rescues from the mouth of a lion two legs or a piece of an ear, so shall be drawn forth the children of Israel who dwell in Samaria in the presence of [a foreign] tribe, and in Damascus. Thus says the LORD: "As the shepherd rescues from the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear, so shall the people of Israel who dwell in Sama'ria be rescued, with the corner of a couch and part of a bed."כֹּה אָמַר יְהוָה כַּאֲשֶׁר יַצִּיל הָרֹעֶה מִפִּי הָאֲרִי
שְׁתֵּי כְרָעַיִם אֹו בְדַל־אֹזֶן כֵּן יִנָּצְלוּ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל
הַיֹּשְׁבִים בְּשֹׁמְרֹון בִּפְאַת מִטָּה וּבִדְמֶשֶׁק עָרֶשׂ׃ 		12

14διότι ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ, ὅταν ἐκδικῶ ἀσεβείας τοῦ Ισραηλ ἐπ' αὐτόν, καὶ ἐκδικήσω ἐπὶ τὰ θυσιαστήρια Βαιθηλ, καὶ κατασκαφήσεται τὰ κέρατα τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου καὶ πεσοῦνται ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν· For in the day wherein I shall take vengeance of the sins of Israel upon him, I will also take vengeance on the altars of Bethel: and the horns of the altar shall be broken down, and they shall fall upon the ground. "that on the day I punish Israel for his transgressions,
I will punish the altars of Bethel,
and the horns of the altar shall be cut off
and fall to the ground.
כִּי בְּיֹום פָּקְדִי פִשְׁעֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל עָלָיו וּפָקַדְתִּי עַל־מִזְבְּחֹות בֵּית־אֵל
וְנִגְדְּעוּ קַרְנֹות הַמִּזְבֵּחַ וְנָפְלוּ לָאָרֶץ׃ 		14

I will crush and smite the turreted-house upon the summer-house; and the ivory-houses shall be destroyed, and many other houses also, says the Lord. I will smite the winter house with the summer house;
and the houses of ivory shall perish,
and the great houses shall come to an end,"
says the LORD.		וְהִכֵּיתִי בֵית־הַחֹרֶף עַל־בֵּית הַקָּיִץ
וְאָבְדוּ בָּתֵּי הַשֵּׁן וְסָפוּ בָּתִּים רַבִּים נְאֻם־יְהוָה׃ ס 		15
