36ΙΩΒBrenton(Lxx)JOB Revised Standard VersionJOB 36

And Elius further continued, and said,
 And Eli'hu continued, and said:וַיֹּסֶף אֱלִיהוּא וַיֹּאמַר׃ 1
Wait for me yet a little while, that I may teach you:
for there is yet speech in me.
 "Bear with me a little, and I will show you,
for I have yet something to say on God's behalf.
Having fetched my knowledge from afar,
and according to my works,
 I will fetch my knowledge from afar,
and ascribe righteousness to my Maker.
I will speak just things truly,
and you shall not unjustly receive unjust words.
 For truly my words are not false;
one who is perfect in knowledge is with you.
But know that the Lord will not cast off an innocent man:
being mighty in strength of wisdom,
 "Behold, God is mighty, and does not despise any;
he is mighty in strength of understanding.
he will not by any means save alive the ungodly:
and he will grant the judgment of the poor.
 He does not keep the wicked alive,
but gives the afflicted their right.
He will not turn away his eyes from the righteous,
but [they shall be] with kings on the throne:
and he will establish them in triumph,
and they shall be exalted.
 He does not withdraw his eyes from the righteous,
but with kings upon the throne he sets them for ever,
and they are exalted.
But they that are bound in fetters shall be holden in cords of poverty.
 And if they are bound in fetters
and caught in the cords of affliction,
And he shall recount to them heir works,
and their transgressions,
for such will act with violence.
 then he declares to them their work and their transgressions,
that they are behaving arrogantly.
But he will listen to the righteous:
and he has said that they shall turn from unrighteousness.
 He opens their ears to instruction,
and commands that they return from iniquity.
If they should hear and serve [him],
they shall spend their days in prosperity,
and their years in honour.
 If they hearken and serve him, they complete their days in prosperity,
and their years in pleasantness.
But he preserves not the ungodly;
because they are not willing to know the Lord,
and because when reproved they were disobedient.
 But if they do not hearken,
they perish by the sword,
and die without knowledge.
And the hypocrites in heart will array wrath [against themselves];
they will not cry, because he has bound them.
 "The godless in heart cherish anger;
they do not cry for help when he binds them.
Therefore let their soul die in youth,
and their life be wounded by messengers [of death].
 They die in youth,
and their life ends in shame.
Because they afflicted the weak and helpless:
and he will vindicate the judgment of the meek.
 He delivers the afflicted by their affliction,
and opens their ear by adversity.
And he has also enticed you out of the mouth of the enemy:
 He also allured you out of distress into a broad place where there was no cramping,
and what was set on your table was full of fatness.
[there is] a deep gulf [and] a rushing stream beneath it,
and your table came down full of fatness.
Judgment shall not fail from the righteous;
 "But you are full of the judgment on the wicked;
judgment and justice seize you.
but there shall be wrath upon the ungodly,
by reason of the ungodliness of the bribes which they received for iniquities.
 Beware lest wrath entice you into scoffing;
and let not the greatness of the ransom turn you aside.
Let not [your] mind willingly turn you aside
from the petition of the feeble that are in distress.
 Will your cry avail to keep you from distress,
or all the force of your strength?
And draw not forth all the mighty [men] by night,
so that the people should go up instead of them.
 Do not long for the night,
when peoples are cut off in their place.
But take heed lest you do that which is wrong:
for of this you has made choice because of poverty.
 Take heed, do not turn to iniquity,
for this you have chosen rather than affliction.
τίς γάρ ἐστιν κατ' αὐτὸν δυνάστης;
Behold, the Mighty One shall prevail by his strength:
for who is powerful as he is?
 Behold, God is exalted in his power;
who is a teacher like him?
23τίς δέ ἐστιν ὁ ἐτάζων αὐτοῦ τὰ ἔργα;
ἢ τίς ὁ εἴπας Ἔπραξεν ἄδικα;
And who is he that examines his works?
or who can say, he has wrought injustice?
 Who has prescribed for him his way,
or who can say, 'Thou hast done wrong'?
Remember that his works are great
[beyond] those which men have attempted.
 "Remember to extol his work, of which men have sung.
Every man has seen in himself,
how many mortals are wounded.
 All men have looked on it;
man beholds it from afar.
Behold, the Mighty One is great, and we shall not know [him]:
the number of his years is even infinite.
 Behold, God is great, and we know him not;
the number of his years is unsearchable.
And the drops of rain are numbered by him,
and shall be poured out in rain to form a cloud.
 For he draws up the drops of water,
he distils his mist in rain
The ancient [heavens] shall flow,
and the clouds overshadow innumerable mortals:
 which the skies pour down,
and drop upon man abundantly.
and he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, only not as his brethren, nor as his mother:
28aὥραν ἔθετο κτήνεσιν,
οἴδασιν δὲ κοίτης τάξιν.
and he removed the pillars of Baal which his father made, and broke them in pieces: only he was joined to the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who led Israel to sin; he departed not from them.
And the Lord was very angry with the house of Achaab.
and Joram son of Achaab reigns over Israel in Samaria twelve years [beginning] in the eighteenth year of Josaphat king of Juda:
28aὥραν ἔθετο κτήνεσιν,
οἴδασιν δὲ κοίτης τάξιν.
Then the king of Israel said to Josaphat, I will send forth thy servants and my servants in the ship: but Josaphat would not.
And Josaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried by his fathers in the city of David his father, and Joram his son reigned in his stead.
and there was no king in Syria, [but] a deputy.
And king Josaphat made a ship at Tharsis to go to Sophir for gold; but it went not, for the ship was broken at Gasion Gaber.
And the remains of the prostitution which they practiced in the days of Asa his father, he removed out of the land:
28aὥραν ἔθετο κτήνεσιν,
οἴδασιν δὲ κοίτης τάξιν.
Now the engagements which Josaphat made with the king of Israel, and all his mighty deeds which he performed, and the enemies whom he fought against, behold [are] not these written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Juda?
And he walked in the way of Asa his father, and turned not from it, [even] from doing right in the eyes of the Lord: only they removed not [any] of the high places; they sacrificed and burnt incense on the high places.
And in the eleventh year of Ambri Josaphat the son of Asa reigns, [being] thirty-five years old in the beginning of his reign, and he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name [was] Gazuba, daughter of Seli.
And the word of the Lord came to Samaia the man of God, saying, Speak to Roboam king of Juda, and all the house of Juda and Benjamin, and to the remnant of the people, saying, Thus saith the Lord, Ye shall not go up, neither shall thou fight with your brethren the sons of Israel: return every man to his house, for this thing is from me.
And they hearkened to the word of the Lord, and they ceased from going up, according to the word of the Lord.
And it came to pass at the beginning of the year, that Roboam gathered all the men of Juda and Benjamin, and went up to fight with Jeroboam at Sikima.
And all the people were dispersed from Sikima, and they departed every one to his tent: and Roboam strengthened himself and departed, and mounted his chariot, and entered into Jerusalem: and there follow him the whole tribe of Juda, and the whole tribe of Benjamin.
And the saying pleased Roboam, and he answered the people as the young men, they that were brought up with him, counselled him: and all the people spoke as one man, every one to his neighbour, and they cried out all together, saying, We have no part in David, nor inheritance in the son of Jessae: to thy tents, O Israel, every one; for this man [is] not for a prince or a ruler over us.
And Roboam rejected their councel, and it pleased him not: and he sent and brought in those who had been brought up with him; and he said to them, Thus and thus has the people sent to me to say: and they that had been brought up this him said, Thus shalt thou speak to the people, saying, My little finger shall be thicker than my father's loins; my father scourged you with whips, but I will rule you with scorpions.
and Roboam said, Bring in to me the elders, and I will take councel with them what I shall answer to the people on the third day. So Roboam spoke in their ears, as the people sent to him [to say]: and the elders of the people said, Thus the people have spoken to thee.
And the word of the Lord came to Samaias son of Enlami, saying, Take to thyself a new garment which has not gone into the water, and rend it [into[ twelve pieces; and thou shalt give [some[ to Jeroboam, and shalt say to him, Thus saith the Lord, Take to thyself ten pieces to cover thee: and Jeroboam took [them]: and Samaias said, Thus saith the Lord, concerning the ten tribes of Israel.
And the people said to Roboam the son of Solomon, Thy father made his yoke heavy upon us, and made the meat of his table heavy; and now thou shalt lighten them upon us, and we will serve thee. And Roboam said to the people, Wait three days, and I will return you an answer:
28aὥραν ἔθετο κτήνεσιν,
οἴδασιν δὲ κοίτης τάξιν.
And the woman departed, when she heard this: and it came to pass as she entered into Sarira, that the child died; and there came forth a wailing to meet[ her]. And Jeroboam went to Sikima in mount Ephraim, and assembled there the tribes of Israel; and Roboam the son of Solomon went up thither.
And Ano went in to the man of God; and Achia said to her, Why hast thou brought me bread and grapes, and cakes, and a pot of honey? Thus saith the Lord, Behold, thou shalt depart from me, and it shall come to pass when thou hast entered into the city, [even] into Sarira, that thy maidens shall come out to meet thee, and shall say to thee, The child is dead:
28aὥραν ἔθετο κτήνεσιν,
οἴδασιν δὲ κοίτης τάξιν.
for thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will destroy every male of Jeroboam, and there shall be the dead of Jeroboam in the city, [them] the dogs shall eat, and him that has died in the field shall the birds of the air eat, and he shall lament for the child, [saying], Woe is [me], Lord! For there has been found in him some good thing touching the Lord.
And the woman arose, and took in her hand bread, and two cakes, and grapes, and a pot of honey, for Achia: and the man [was] old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see.
And she rose up from Sarira and went; and it came to pass when she had come into the city to Achia the Selonite, that Achia said to his servant, Go out now to meet Ano the wife of Jeroboam, and thou thalt say to her, Come in, and stand not [still]: for thus saith the Lord, I send greivous tidings to thee.
Now there was a man in Selom, and his name [was] Achia: and he was sixty years old, and the word of the Lord [was] with him. And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, and take in thine hand loaves for the man of God, and cakes for his children, and grapes, and a pot of honey.
And Jeroboam heard in Egypt that Solomon was dead; and he spoke in the ears of Susakim king of Egypt, saying, Let me go, and I will depart into my land; and Susakim said to him, Ask any request, and I will grant it thee.
And Susakim gave to Jeroboam Ano the eldest sister of Thekemina his wife, to be his wife: she was great among the daughters of the king, and she bore to Jeroboam Abia his son:
28aὥραν ἔθετο κτήνεσιν,
οἴδασιν δὲ κοίτης τάξιν.
nd Jeroboam said to Susakim, Let me indeed go, and I will depart. And Jeroboam departed out of Eqypt, and came into the land of Sarira that was in mount Ephraim, and thither the whole tribe of Ephraim assembles, and Jeroboam built a fortress there.
And his young child was sick with a very severe sickness; and Jeroboam went to enquire concerning the child: and he said to Ano his wife, Arise, go enquire of God concerning the child, whether he shall recover from his sickness.
And there was a man of mount Ephraim, a servant of Solomon, and his name [was] Jeroboam; and the name of his mother [was] Sarira, a harlot; and Solomon made him head of the levies of the house of Joseph: and he built for Solomon Sarira in mount Ephraim; and he had three hundred chariots of horses: he built the citadel with the levies of the house of Ephraim; he fortified the city of David, and aspired to the kingdom.
And Solomon sought to kill him; and he was afraid, and escaped to Susakim king of Egypt, and was with him until Solomon died.
So king Solomon sleeps with his fathers, and is buried with his fathers in the city of David; and Roboam his son reigned in his stead in Jerusalem, being sixteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twelve years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name [was] Naaman, daughter of Ana son of Naas king of the children of Ammon. And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked not in the way of David his father.
Then spoke Solomon concerning the house, when he had finished building it - He manifested the sun in the heaven: the Lord said he would dwell in darkness: build thou my house, a beautiful house for thyself to dwell in anew. Behold, is not this written in the book of the song?
And [there were made] the porches, and the nails, and the bowls, and the spoons, and the golden censers, of pure gold: and the panels of the doors of the innermost part of the house, [even] the holy of holies, and the golden doors of the temple.
And they prepared the stones and the timber [during] three years.
wide [enough] for the bars, so as to bear the altar with them.
He made the pins of the tabernacle and the pins of the court of brass.
And they put the two golden rings on both the [upper] corners of the oracle;
And they put them on the two circlets, and they put them on the shoulders of the ephod opposite [each other] in front.
and the emerald stones,
and the incense, and the anointing oil,
These are thy gods, O Israel, who brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
And Pharao hardened his heart, even on this occasion, and he would not send the people away.
so Solomon the son of David reigned over Israel and Juda in Jerusalem.
And he reigned over all the kings from the river and the land of the Philistines, and to the borders of Egypt:
28aὥραν ἔθετο κτήνεσιν,
οἴδασιν δὲ κοίτης τάξιν.
And Solomon had forty thousand brood mares for his chariots, and twelve thousand horses.
And these [were] the princes of Solomon; Azariu son of Sadoc the priest, and Orniu son of Nathan chief of the officers, and he went to his house; and Suba the scribe, and Basa son of Achithalam recorder, and Abi son of Joab commander-in-chief, and Achire son of Edrai [was] over the levies, and Banaeas son of Jodae over the household and over the brickwork, and Cachur the son of Nathan [was] counsellor.
and he was at peace on all sides round about; and Juda and Israel dwelt safely, every one under his vine and under his fig tree, eating and drinking and feasting, from Dan even to Bersabee, all the days of Solomon.
For he ruled in all the country on this side of the river, from Raphi unto Gaza, over all the kings on this side of the river:
28aὥραν ἔθετο κτήνεσιν,
οἴδασιν δὲ κοίτης τάξιν.
and he built Thermae in the wilderness.
And this was the daily provision of Solomon, thirty measures of fine flour, and sixty measures of ground meal, ten choice calves, and twenty oxen from the pastures, and a hundred sheep, besides stags, and does, and choice fed birds.
And Solomon began to open the domains of Libanus,
And king Solomon was very prudent and wise: and Juda and Israel [were] very many, as the sand which is by the sea for multitude, eating, and drinking, and rejoicing:
28aὥραν ἔθετο κτήνεσιν,
οἴδασιν δὲ κοίτης τάξιν.
and Solomon was chief in all the kingdoms, and they brought gifts, and served Solomon all the days of his life.
and he came down to meet me at Jordan, and I swore to him by the Lord, saying, He shall not be slain with the sword.
But now do not thou hold him guiltless, for thou [art] a man of understanding, and thou wilt know what thou shalt do to him, and thou shalt bring down his grey hairs with blood to the grave.
he cursed me with a greivous curse in the day when I went into the camp;
And when David was yet living, he charged Solomon, saying, Behold, [there is] with thee Samei the son of Gera, of the seed of Benjamin out of Chebron:
28aὥραν ἔθετο κτήνεσιν,
οἴδασιν δὲ κοίτης τάξιν.
and Solomon offered up three whole burnt-offerings in the year, and peace-offerings on the alter which he built to the Lord, and he burnt incense before the Lord, and finished the house.
And these [are] the chief persons who presided over the works of Solomon; three thousand and six hundred masters of the people that wrought the works.
And he built Assur, and Magdo, and Gazer, and upper Baethoron, and Ballath:
28aὥραν ἔθετο κτήνεσιν,
οἴδασιν δὲ κοίτης τάξιν.
only after he had built the house of the Lord, and the wall of Jerusalem round about, afterwards he built these cities.
thus the daughter of Pharao went up out of the city of David to her house which he built for her. Then he built the citadel;
and Solomon made the sea, and the bases, and the great lavers, and the pillers, and the fountain of the court, and the brazen sea - and he built the citadel as a defence above it, he made a breach in the wall of the city of David;
and the Lord gave understanding to Solomon, and very much wisdom, and largeness of heart, as the sand by the sea-shore.
And the wisdom of Solomon abounded exceedingly beyond the wisdom of all the ancients, and beyond all the wise men of Egypt;
and he took the daighter of Pharao, and brought her into the city of David, until he had finished building his own house, and of the house of the Lord first, and the wall of Jerusalem round about. In seven years he made and finished them.
And Solomon had seventy thousand bearers of burdens, and eighty thousand hewers of stone in the mountain:
28aὥραν ἔθετο κτήνεσιν,
οἴδασιν δὲ κοίτης τάξιν.
and thou thyself sittest down to spend the nights in the open air among the corruption of worms,

and I am a wanderer and a servant from place to place and house to house,
waiting for the setting of the sun,
that I may rest from my labours and my pangs which now beset me;
but say some word against the Lord,
and die.

for, behold, thy memorial is abolished from the earth,
[even your] sons and daughters,
the pangs and pains of my womb which I bore in vain with sorrows;

Behold, I wait yet a little while,
expecting the hope of my deliverance?

and for the innocent blood which Joakim shed, for he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; yet the Lord would not utterly destroy them.
Nevertheless the wrath of the Lord was upon Juda, so that they should be removed from his presence, because of the sins of Manasses in all that he did,
And the Lord sent against them the Chaldeans, and plundering parties of Syrians, and plundering parties of the Moabites, and of the children of Ammon, and of Samaria; but after this they departed, according to the word of the Lord by the hand of his servants the prophets.
In his days came Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon into the land, and he served him three years, and [then] revolted from him.
but [he] had given the silver and gold to Pharao. At that time the land began to be taxed to give the money at the command of Pharao; and every one as he could borrowed the silver and the gold of the people of the land, to give to Pharao Nechao.
and his mother's name was Amital, daughter of Jeremias of Lobna.
And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his fathers had done.
And Pharao Nechao bound him in Deblatha in the land of Aemath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem.
and the Lord said, I will even remove Juda also from my presence, as I have removed Israel, and I have rejected the city which I chose, [even] Jerusalem, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there.
Nevertheless the Lord turned not from the anger of his fierce wrath, wherewith the Lord was greatly angry against Juda, for all the provocations wherewith Manasses provoked him:
28aὥραν ἔθετο κτήνεσιν,
οἴδασιν δὲ κοίτης τάξιν.
There was no [king] like him before him, who turned to the Lord with all his heart, and all his soul, and all his strength, according to all the law of Moses, and after him there rose up none like him.
And king Josias burnt those who had in them a divining spirit, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and the sodomites which were in the land of Juda and in Jerusalem, that he might confirm the words of the law that were written in the book which Chelcias the priest found in the house of the Lord.
and Joshua built the city, and dwelt in it:
28aὥραν ἔθετο κτήνεσιν,
οἴδασιν δὲ κοίτης τάξιν.
and Joshua took the knives of stone, wherewith he circumcised the children of Israel that were born in the desert by the way, and put them in Thamnasachar.
and Joshua ceased dividing the land by their borders:
28aὥραν ἔθετο κτήνεσιν,
οἴδασιν δὲ κοίτης τάξιν.
and the children of Israel gave a portion to Joshua because of the commandment of the Lord: they gave him the city which he asked: they gave him Thamnasachar in mount Ephraim;
and it is written that he will rise again with those whom the Lord raises up.

This man is described in the Syriac book [as] living in the land of Ausis, on the borders of Idumea and Arabia:
and his name before was Jobab;

and having taken an Arabian wife, he begot a son whose name was Ennon.
And he himself was the son of his father Zare, one of the sons of Esau, and of his mother Bosorrha, so that he was the fifth from Abraam.

And these were the kings who reigned in Edom, which country he also ruled over:
first, Balac, the son of Beor, and the name of his city was Dennaba:
but after Balac, Jobab, who is called Job:
and after him Asom, who was governor out of the country of Thaeman:
and after him Adad, the son of Barad, who destroyed Madiam in the plain of Moab;
and the name of his city was Gethaim.

And [his] friends who came to him were Eliphaz, of the children of Esau, king of the Thaemanites, Baldad sovereign of the Sauchaeans, Sophar king of the Minaeans.

The beginning of a good way is to do justly;
and it is more acceptable with God than to offer sacrifices.

All of the works of the Lord [are done] with righteousness;
and the ungodly [man] is kept for the evil day.

A son that keeps the commandment shall escape destruction;
for [such an one] has fully received it.

Let no falsehood be spoken by the king from the tongue;
yes, let no falsehood proceed from his tongue.

The king's tongue is a sword, and not one of flesh;
and whosoever shall be given up to [it] shall be destroyed:

28aὥραν ἔθετο κτήνεσιν,
οἴδασιν δὲ κοίτης τάξιν.
for if his wrath should be provoked, he destroys men with cords, and devours men's bones, and burns them up as a flame, so that they are not [even] fit to be eaten by the young eagles.

and burns them up as a flame, so that they are not [even] fit to be eaten by the young eagles.
[My] son, reverence my words, and receive them, and repent.

So that He will distinguish between the righteous and the sinner,
[And] recompense the sinners for ever according to their deeds;

And have mercy on the righteous, [delivering him] from the affliction of the sinner,
And recompensing the sinner for what he hath done to the righteous.

For the Lord is good to them that call upon Him in patience,
Doing according to His mercy to His pious ones,
Establishing [them] at all times before Him in strength.

Blessed be the Lord for ever before His servants.
He falleth - verily grievous is his fall - and riseth no more.
The destruction of the sinner is for ever,

And he shall not be remembered, when the righteous is visited.
This is the portion of sinners for ever.
But they that fear the Lord shall rise to life eternal,
And their life [shall be] in the light of the Lord, and shall come to an end no more.

Blessed are they that fear the Lord in their flawlessness;
The Lord shall deliver them from guileful men and sinners,
And deliver us from every stumbling-block of the lawless [men].

Let God destroy them that insolently work all unrighteousness,
For a great and mighty judge is the Lord our God in righteousness.

Let Your mercy, O Lord, be upon all them that love Thee.
Sufficient are moderate means with righteousness,
And hereby the blessing of the Lord [becomes] abundance with righteousness.

They that fear the Lord rejoice in good [gifts],
And Your goodness is upon Israel in Your kingdom.

Blessed is the glory of the Lord
for He is our king.

When his heart is at peace, he singeth to the name of his God,
And he entreateth the Lord for all his house.

And the Lord heareth the prayer of every one that feareth God,
And every request of the soul that hopes for Him doth the Lord accomplish.

Blessed is the Lord, who showeth mercy to those who love Him in sincerity.
For Your faithfulness is with us.
And [though] we have stiffened our neck,
yet You are our chastener;

Overlook us not, O our God,
lest the nations swallow us up, as though there were none to deliver.

But You are our God from the beginning,
And upon Thee is our hope [set], O Lord;

And we will not depart from Thee,
For good are Your judgments upon us.

Ours and our children's be Your good pleasure for ever;
O Lord our Saviour, we shall never more be moved.

The Lord is worthy to be praised for His judgments with the mouth of His pious ones;
And blessed be Israel of the Lord for ever.

He cleanseth from sins a soul when it maketh confession, when it maketh acknowledgement;
For shame is upon us and upon our faces on account of all these things.
And to whom doth He forgive sins, except to them that have sinned?
You blessest the righteous, and dost not reprove them for the sins that they have committed;
And Your goodness is upon them that sin, when they repent.

And, now, You are our God, and we the people whom You have loved:
Behold and show pity, O God of Israel, for we are Thine;
And remove not Your mercy from us, lest they assail us.

For You didst choose the seed of Abraham before all the nations,
And didst set Your name upon us, O Lord,
And You will not reject [us] for ever.

You made a covenant with our fathers concerning us;
And we hope in Thee, when our soul turneth [to Thee].

The mercy of the Lord be upon the house of Israel for ever and ever.
The salvation of the Lord be upon the house of Israel to everlasting gladness!
The salvation of the Lord be upon Israel His servant for ever;
And let the sinners perish together at the presence of the Lord;
But let the Lord's pious ones inherit the promises of the Lord.

For sins shall lay waste the houses of sinners.
And sinners shall perish for ever in the day of the Lord's judgment,

When God visiteth the earth with His judgment.
But they that fear the Lord shall find mercy therein,
And shall live by the compassion of their God;
But sinners shall perish for ever.

This (will be) the majesty of the king of Israel whom God knoweth;
He will raise him up over the house of Israel to correct him.

His words [shall be] more refined than costly gold, the choicest;
In the assemblies he will judge the peoples, the tribes of the sanctified.

His words [shall be] like the words of the holy ones in the midst of sanctified peoples.
Blessed be they that shall be in those days,
In that they shall see the good fortune of Israel which God shall bring to pass in the gathering together of the tribes.

May the Lord hasten His mercy upon Israel!
May He deliver us from the uncleanness of unholy enemies!
The Lord Himself is our king for ever and ever.

In the fear of God [they pursue] their path every day,
From the day God created them and for evermore.

And they have erred not since the day He created them.
Since the generations of old they have not withdrawn from their path,
Unless God commanded them [so to do] by the command of His servants.

If thou wouldest open the heaven, trembling will take hold upon the mountains from thee, and they shall melt,
Jesus Christ
Father Almighty;
only begotten Son, Lord
we bless you,
we worship you,
we glorify you,
and we thank you,
for your great glory.
Lord, King,
Heavenly God,
to give knowledge of salvation to his people
in the forgiveness of their sins,

through the tender mercy of our God,
when the day shall dawn upon us from on high

to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the way of peace.

MORNING HYMN.
Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace,
good will to man.
We praise you,
in holiness and righteousness before him
all the days of our life.

And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High;
for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways,

being delivered from the hand of our enemies,
might serve him without fear,

to perform the mercy promised to our fathers,
and to remember his holy covenant,

the oath which he swore to our father Abraham,
to grant us that we,

and has raised up a horn of salvation for us
in the house of his servant David,

that we should be saved from our enemies,
and from the hand of all who hate us;

as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from of old,
Blessed be the Lord God of Israel,
for he has visited and redeemed his people,

a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and for glory to your people Israel.

PRAYER OF ZECHARIAH.
He has helped his servant Israel,
in remembrance of his mercy,

as he spoke to our fathers,
to Abraham and to his posterity for ever.

PRAYER OF SIMEON.
Lord, now lettest you your servant depart in peace,
according to your word;

for mine eyes have seen your salvation
which you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
he has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent empty away.

And his mercy is on those who fear him
from generation to generation.

He has shown strength with his arm,
he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts,

he has put down the mighty from their thrones,
and exalted those of low degree;

for he who is mighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his name.

My soul magnifies the Lord,
and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour,
for he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden.
For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed;

Bless the Lord, spirits and souls of the righteous,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

Bless the Lord, light and darkness,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

Bless the Lord, ice and cold,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

Bless the Lord, all rain and dew,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

Bless the Lord, stars of heaven,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

Bless the Lord, all waters above the heaven,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

Bless the Lord, all powers,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

Bless the Lord, sun and moon,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

Blessed are you in the firmament of heaven
and to be sung and glorified for ever.

Bless the Lord, all works of the Lord,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

Bless the Lord, you heavens,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

Bless the Lord, you angels of the Lord,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

Blessed are you upon the throne of your kingdom
and to be extolled and highly exalted for ever.

HYMN TO OUR FATHER.
Blessed are you, O Lord, God of our fathers,
and to be praised and highly exalted for ever; And blessed is your glorious, holy name
and to be highly praised and highly exalted for ever;

Blessed are you in the temple of your holy glory
and to be extolled and highly glorified for ever.

Blessed are you, who sittest upon cherubim and look upon the deeps,
and to be praised and highly exalted for ever.

And now with all our heart we follow you,
we fear you and seek your face.

Do not put us to shame,
but deal with us in your forbearance
and in your abundant mercy.

Deliver us in accordance with your marvelous works,
and give glory to your name, O Lord!
Let all who do harm to your servants be put to shame;

let them be disgraced and deprived of all power and dominion, and let their strength be broken.
Let them know that you are the Lord, the only God,
glorious over the whole world.

Yet with a contrite heart and a humble spirit may we be accepted,
as though it were with burnt offerings of rams and bulls,
and with tens of thousands of fat lambs;

such may our sacrifice be in your sight this day,
and may we wholly follow you,
for there will be no shame for those who trust in you.

You have given us into the hands of lawless enemies, most hateful rebels,
and to an unjust king, the most wicked in all the world.

And now we cannot open our mouths;
shame and disgrace have befallen your servants and worshipers.

For your name's sake do not give us up utterly,
and do not break your covenant,

and do not withdraw your mercy from us,
for the sake of Abraham your beloved
and for the sake of Isaac your servant
and Israel your holy one,

to whom you didst promise
to make their descendants as many as the stars of heaven
and as the sand on the shore of the sea.

For we, O Lord, have become fewer than any nation,
and are brought low this day in all the world because of our sins.

And at this time there is no prince,
or prophet, or leader, no burnt offering,
or sacrifice, or oblation, or incense,
no place to make an offering before you
or to find mercy.

So all that you have brought upon us,
and all that you have done to us,
you have done in true judgment.

we have not observed them or done them,
as you have commanded us that it might go well with us.

For you are just in all that you have done to us,
and all your works are true
and your ways right,
and all your judgments are truth.

You have executed true judgments
in all that you have brought upon us
and upon Jerusalem, the holy city of our fathers,
for in truth and justice you have brought all this upon us because of our sins.

For we have sinfully and lawlessly departed from you,
and have sinned in all things
and have not obeyed your commandments;

PRAYER OF AZARIAH.
Blessed are you, O Lord, God of our fathers,
and worthy of praise; and your name is glorified for ever.

PRAYER OF MANASSE.
and I will not cease blessing you with the psaltery all the days of my life before the house of God.
For they that are in the grave shall not praise you,
neither shall the dead bless you,
neither shall they that are in Hades hope for your mercy.

The living shall bless you, as I also [do]:
for from this day shall I beget children, who shall declare your righteousness,
O God of my salvation;

and removed the sorrow of my soul.
[Yea], O Lord, for it was told you concerning this;
and you have revived my breath;
and I am comforted, and live.

For you have chosen my soul, that it should not perish:
and you have cast all [my] sins behind me.

As a swallow, so will I cry,
and as a dove, so do I mourn:
for mine eyes have failed with looking to the height of heaven to the Lord, who has delivered me,

[My life] has failed from among my kindred:
I have parted with the remainder of my life:
it has gone forth and departed from me,
as one that having pitched a tent takes it down [again]:
my breath was with me as a weaver's web,
when she that weaves draws nigh to cut off [the] thread.

In that day I was given up as to a lion until the morning:
so has he broken all my bones:
for I was so given up from day [even] to night.

I said, I shall no more at all see the salvation of God in the land of the living:
I shall no more at all see the salvation of Israel on the earth:
I shall no more at all see man.

PRAYER OF HEZEKIAH.
I said in the end of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave:
I shall part with the remainder of my years.

yet I will exult in the Lord,
I will joy in God my Saviour.

The Lord God is my strength,
and he will perfectly strengthen my feet;
he mounts me upon high places,
that I may conquer by his song.

For [though] the fig-tree shall bear no fruit,
and there shall be no produce on the vines;
the labour of the olive shall fail,
and the fields shall produce no food:
the sheep have failed from the pasture,
and there are no oxen at the cribs;

I watched, and my belly trembled at the sound of the prayer of my lips,
and trembling entered into my bones,
and my frame was troubled within me;
I will rest in the day of affliction,
from going up to the people of my sojourning.

And you dost cause your horses to enter the sea, disturbing much water.
You didst cut asunder the heads of princes with amazement, they shall tremble in it;
they shall burst their bridles, [they shall be] as a poor man devouring in secret.

You went forth for the salvation of your people, to save your anointed:
you shall bring death on the heads of transgressors;
you has brought bands upon [their] neck.
Pause.

The sun was exalted, and the moon stood still in her course:
your darts shall go forth at the light,
at the brightness of the gleaming of your arms.

You will bring low the land with threatening,
and in wrath you will break down the nations.

Was you angry, O Lord, with the rivers?
or [was] your wrath against the rivers,
or your anger against the sea?
for you will mount on your horses,
and your chariots are salvation.

Surely you didst bend they bow at scepters, says the Lord.
Pause.
The land of rivers shall be torn asunder.

The nations shall see you and be in pain,
[as you dost] divide the moving waters:
the deep uttered her voice,
and raised her form on high.

Because of troubles I looked upon the tents of the Ethiopians:
the tabernacles also of the land of Madiam shall be dismayed.

Before his face shall go a report,
and it shall go forth into the plains,

the earth stood at his feet and trembled:
he beheld, and the nations melted away:
the mountains were violently burst through,
the everlasting hills melted at his everlasting going forth.

And his brightness shall be as light;
[there were] horns in his hands,
and he caused a mighty love of his strength.

God shall come from Thaeman,
and the Holy One from the dark shady mount Pharan.
Pause.
His excellence covered the heavens,
and the earth was full of his praise.

PRAYER OF HABAKKUK.
O Lord, I have heard your report, and was afraid:
I considered your works, and was amazed:
you shall be known between the two living creatures,
you shall be acknowledged when the years draw nigh;
you shall be manifested when the time is come;
when my soul is troubled, you will in wrath remember mercy.

When my soul was failing me, I remembered the Lord;
and may my prayer come to you into your holy temple.

But I will sacrifice to you with the voice of praise and thanksgiving:
all that I have vowed I will pay to you, the Lord of [my] salvation.

They that observe vanities and lies have forsaken their own mercy.
I went down into the earth, whose bars are the everlasting barriers:
yet, O Lord my God, let my ruined life be restored.

Water was poured around me to the soul:
the lowest deep compassed me,
my head went down to the clefts of the mountains;

You didst cast me into the depths of the heart of the sea,
and the floods compassed me:
all your billows and your waves have passed upon me.

And I said, I am cast out of your presence:
shall I indeed look again toward your holy temple?

PRAYER OF JONAH.
and said, I cried in my affliction to the Lord my God,
and he listened to me, [even] to my cry out of the belly of hell:
you heard my voice.

Go, my people, enter into your closets,
shut your door, hide yourself for a little season,
until the anger of the Lord have passed away.

The dead shall rise, and they that are in the tombs shall be raised,
and they that are in the earth shall rejoice:
for the dew from you is healing to them:
but the land of the ungodly shall perish.

And as a woman in travail draws nigh to be delivered, [and] cries out in her pain;
so have we been to your beloved.

We have conceived, O Lord, because of your fear, and have been in pain,
and have brought forth the breath of your salvation, which we have wrought upon the earth:
we shall not fall, but all that dwell upon the land shall fall.

Bring more evils upon them, O Lord;
bring more evils on the glorious ones of the earth.

Lord, in affliction I remembered you;
your chastening was to us with small affliction.

O Lord our God, give us peace:
for you have rendered to us all things.

O Lord our God, take possession of us:
O Lord, we know not [any] other beside you: we name your name.

But he dead shall not see life,
neither shall physicians by any means raise [them] up:
therefore you have brought [wrath] upon [them], and slain [them], and have taken away every male of them.

O Lord, your arm is exalted, yet they knew it not:
but when they know they shall be ashamed:
jealously shall seize upon an untaught nation, and now fire shall devour the adversaries.

PRAYER OF ISAIAH.
which our soul longs for: my spirit seeks you very early in the morning, O God,
for your commandments are a light on the earth:
learn righteousness, you that dwell upon the earth.

For the ungodly one is put down:
no one who will not learn righteousness on the earth, shall be able to do the truth:
let the ungodly be taken away, that he see not the glory of the Lord.

For these things have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.
Woe [to them] that join house to house,
and add field to field, that they may take away something of their neighbor's:
will you dwell alone upon the land?

And I will forsake my vineyard; and it shall not be pruned, nor dug,
and thorns shall come up upon it as on barren land;
and I will command the clouds to rain no rain upon it.

For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel,
and the men of Juda [his] beloved plant:
I expected [it] to bring forth judgement, and it brought forth iniquity;
and not righteousness, but a cry.

What shall I do any more to my vineyard, that I have not done to it?
Whereas I expected [it] to bring forth grapes, but it has brought forth thorns.

And now I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard:
I will take away its hedge, and it shall be for a spoil;
and I will pull down its walls, and it shall be [left] to be trodden down.

And now, you dwellers in Jerusalem, and [every] man of Juda,
judge between me and my vineyard.

And I made a hedge round it, and dug a trench,
and planted a choice vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and dug a place for the wine-vat in it:
and I waited [for it] to bring forth grapes, and it brought forth thorns.

SONG OF ISAIAH.
Now I will sing to [my] beloved a song of my beloved concerning my vineyard.
[My] beloved had a vineyard on a high hill in a fertile place.

granting his petition to him that prays;
and he blesses the years of the righteous,
for by strength cannot man prevail.

The Lord will weaken his adversary;
the Lord [is] holy.
Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom,
nor let the mighty man boast in his strength,
and let not the rich man boast in his wealth;
but let him that boasts boast in this,
to understand and know the Lord,
and to execute judgement and justice in the midst of the earth.
The Lord has gone up to the heavens, and has thundered:
he will judge the extremities of the earth,
and he gives strength to our kings,
and will exalt the horn of his Christ.
And she left him there before the Lord,

He lifts up the poor from the earth,
and raises the needy from the dunghill;
to seat him with the princes of the people,
and causing them to inherit the throne of glory:

28aὥραν ἔθετο κτήνεσιν,
οἴδασιν δὲ κοίτης τάξιν.
The Lord makes poor, and makes rich;
he brings low, and lifts up.

The Lord kills and makes alive;
he brings down to the grave, and brings up.

The bow of the mighty has waxed feeble,
and the weak have girded themselves with strength.

They that were full of bread are brought low;
and the hungry have forsaken the land;
for the barren has born seven,
and she that abounded in children has waxed feeble.

Boast not, and utter not high things;
let not high-sounding words come out of your mouth,
for the Lord [is] a God of knowledge,
and God prepares his own designs.

My heart is established in the Lord,
my horn is exalted in my God;
my mouth is enlarged over my enemies,
I have rejoiced in your salvation.

For there is none holy as the Lord,
and there is none righteous as our God;
there is none holy besides you.

PRAYER OF HANNA THE MOTHER OF SAMUEL.
Rejoice, you heavens, with him,
and let all the angels of God worship him;
rejoice you Gentiles, with his people,
and let all the sons of God strengthen themselves in him;
for he will avenge the blood of his sons,
and he will render vengeance, and recompense justice to his enemies,
and will reward them that hate him;
and the Lord shall purge the land of his people.

I will make my weapons drunk with blood,
and my sword shall devour flesh,
[it shall glut itself] with the blood of the wounded,
and from the captivity of the heads of [their] enemies that rule over them.

For I will sharpen my sword like lightning,
and my hand shall take hold of judgment;
and I will render judgment to my enemies,
and will recompense them that hate me.

For I will lift up my hand to heaven,
and swear by my right hand,
and I will say, I live for ever.

Behold, behold that I am [he],
and there is no god beside me:
I kill, and I will make to live:
I will smite, and I will heal;
and there is none who shall deliver out of my hands.

the fat of whose sacrifices you ate,
and you drank the wine of their drink-offerings?
let them arise and help you,
and be your protectors.

and the Lord said, Where are their gods
on whom they trusted?

For the Lord shall judge his people,
and shall be comforted over his servants;
for he saw that they were utterly weakened,
and failed in the hostile invasion, and were become feeble:

28aὥραν ἔθετο κτήνεσιν,
οἴδασιν δὲ κοίτης τάξιν.
In the day of vengeance I will recompense,
whenever their foot shall be tripped up;
for the day of their destruction [is] near to them,
and the judgments at hand are close upon you.

Lo! are not these things stored up by me,
and sealed among my treasures?

Their wine [is] the rage of serpents,
and the incurable rage of asps.

For their vine [is] of the vine of Sodom,
and their vine-branch of Gomorrha:
their grape [is] a grape of gall,
their cluster [is] one of bitterness.

For their gods are not as our God,
but our enemies [are] void of understanding.

How should one pursue a thousand,
and two rout tens of thousands,
if God had not sold them,
and the Lord delivered them up?

They had not sense to understand:
let them reserve these things against the time to come.

It is a nation that has lost counsel,
neither is there understanding in them.

Were it not for the wrath of the enemy, lest they should live long,
lest their enemies should combine against them;
lest they should say, Our own high arm,
and not the Lord, has done all these things.

I said, I will scatter them,
and I will cause their memorial to cease from among men.

Without, the sword shall bereave them of children,
and terror [shall issue] out of the secret chambers;
the young man shall perish with the virgin,
the suckling with him who has grown old.

[They shall be] consumed with hunger and the devouring of birds,
and there shall be irremediable destruction:
I will send forth against them the teeth of wild beasts,
with the rage of [serpents] creeping on the ground.

I will gather evils upon them,
and will fight with my weapons against them.

For a fire has been kindled out of my wrath,
it shall burn to hell below;
it shall devour the land, and the fruits of it;
it shall set on fire the foundations of the mountains.

They have provoked me to jealousy with [that which is] not God,
they have exasperated me with their idols;
and I will provoke them to jealousy with them that are no nation,
I will anger them with a nation void of understanding.

and said, I will turn away my face from them,
and will show what shall happen to them in the last days;
for it is a perverse generation,
sons in whom is no faith.

And the Lord saw, and was jealous;
and was provoked by the anger of his sons and daughters,

You have forsaken God that begot you,
and forgotten God who feeds you.

They sacrificed to devils, and not to God;
to gods whom they knew not:
new and fresh [gods] came in,
whom their fathers knew not.

They provoked me to anger with strange gods;
with their abominations they bitterly angered me.

So Jacob ate and was filled,
and the beloved one kicked;
he grew fat, he became thick and broad:
then he forsook the God that made him,
and departed from God his Saviour.

Butter of cows, and milk of sheep,
with the fat of lambs and rams,
of calves and kids,
with fat of kidneys of wheat;
and he drank wine, the blood of the grape.

He brought them up on the strength of the land;
he fed them with the fruits of the fields;
they sucked honey out of the rock,
and oil out of the solid rock.

the Lord alone led them,
there was no strange god with them.

As an eagle would watch over his brood,
and yearns over his young,
receives them having spread his wings,
and takes them up on his back:

28aὥραν ἔθετο κτήνεσιν,
οἴδασιν δὲ κοίτης τάξιν.
He maintained him in the wilderness,
in burning thirst and a dry land:
he led him about and instructed him,
and kept him as the apple of an eye.

And his people Jacob became the portion of the Lord,
Israel was the line of his inheritance.

When the Most High divided the nations,
when he separated the sons of Adam,
he set the bounds of the nations
according to the number of the angels of God.

Remember the days of old,
consider the years for past ages:
ask your father, and he shall relate to you,
your elders, and they shall tell you.

Do you thus recompense the Lord?
[is the] people thus foolish and unwise?
did not he himself your father purchase you,
and make you,
and form you?

They have sinned, not [pleasing] him;
spotted children, a froward and perverse generation.

[As for God], his works [are] true,
and all his ways [are] judgment:
God [is] faithful,
and there is no unrighteousness [in him];
just and holy [is] the Lord.

For I have called on the name of the Lord:
assign you greatness to our God.

Let my speech be looked for as the rain,
and my words come down as dew,
as the shower upon the herbage,
and as snow upon the grass.

Attend, O heaven, and I will speak;
and let the earth hear the words out of my mouth.

SONG OF MOSES IN DEUTERONOMY.
For the horse of Pharao went in with the chariots and horsemen into the sea,
and the Lord brought upon them the water of the sea,
but the children of Israel walked through dry land in the midst of the sea.

The Lord reigns for ever and ever and ever.
Bring them in and plant them in the mountain of their inheritance,
in your prepared habitation,
which you, O Lord, have prepared;
the sanctuary, O Lord, which your hands have made ready.

Let trembling and fear fall upon them;
by the greatness of your arm, let them become as stone;
till your people pass over, O Lord,
till this your people pass over, whom you have purchased.

Then the princes of Edom,
and the chiefs of the Moabites hasted;
trembling took hold upon them,
all the inhabitants of Chanaan melted away.

The nations heard and were angry,
pangs have seized on the dwellers among the Phylistines.

You have guided in your righteousness this your people whom you have redeemed,
by your strength you have called them into your holy resting-place.

You stretched forth your right hand,
the earth swallowed them up.

Who is like to you among the gods, O Lord? who is like to you?
glorified in holiness, marvelous in glories, doing wonders.

You sent forth your wind, the sea covered them;
they sank like lead in the mighty water.

The enemy said, I will pursue,
I will overtake, I will divide the spoils;
I will satisfy my soul,
I will destroy with my sword, my hand shall have dominion.

And by the breath of your anger the water parted asunder;
the waters were congealed as a wall, the waves were congealed in the midst of the sea.

And in the abundance of your glory you have broken the adversaries to pieces:
you sent forth your wrath, it devoured them as stubble.

Your right hand, O God, has been glorified in strength;
thy right hand, O God, has broken the enemies.

He covered them with the sea:
they sank to the depth like a stone.

He has cast the chariots of Pharao and his host into the sea,
the chosen mounted captains:
they were swallowed up in the Red Sea.

The Lord bringing wars to nought,
the Lord [is] his name.

He was to me a helper and protector for salvation:
this is my God and I will glorify him;
my father's God, and I will exalt him.

Let us sing to the Lord, for he is very greatly glorified:
horse and rider he has thrown into the sea.

SONG OF MOSES IN EXODUS.
Lord God,
the Lamb of God,
the Son of the Father
who take away the sin of the world,
have mercy on us,
who take away the sins of the world.
Accept our supplication,
you who sit at the right of the Father,
have mercy on us.
For you are the only Holy One,
you are the only Lord,
Jesus Christ,
to the glory of God the Father. Amen.
Every evening I shall bless you,
and I shall praise your name forever,
and to the centuries of centuries.
Grant, O Lord, that in this night
we may be kept without sin.
Blessed are you, O Lord, the God of our Fathers,
and praised and glorified is your name to the ages. Amen.
Blessed are you, O Lord, teach me your rules of life.
Blessed are you, O Lord, teach me your rules of life.
Blessed are you, O Lord, teach me your rules of life.
Lord, you have become for us a refuge from generation to generation.
I have said: Lord, have mercy on me,
heal my soul for I have sinned against you.
Lord, to you I have fled;
teach me to do your will for you are my God.
For with you is the fountain of life;.
in your light we shall see light.
Extend your mercy to those who know you.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, only not as his brethren, nor as his mother:
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and he removed the pillars of Baal which his father made, and broke them in pieces: only he was joined to the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who led Israel to sin; he departed not from them.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And the Lord was very angry with the house of Achaab.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and Joram son of Achaab reigns over Israel in Samaria twelve years [beginning] in the eighteenth year of Josaphat king of Juda:
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Then the king of Israel said to Josaphat, I will send forth thy servants and my servants in the ship: but Josaphat would not.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And Josaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried by his fathers in the city of David his father, and Joram his son reigned in his stead.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and there was no king in Syria, [but] a deputy.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And king Josaphat made a ship at Tharsis to go to Sophir for gold; but it went not, for the ship was broken at Gasion Gaber.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And the remains of the prostitution which they practiced in the days of Asa his father, he removed out of the land:
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Now the engagements which Josaphat made with the king of Israel, and all his mighty deeds which he performed, and the enemies whom he fought against, behold [are] not these written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Juda?
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And he walked in the way of Asa his father, and turned not from it, [even] from doing right in the eyes of the Lord: only they removed not [any] of the high places; they sacrificed and burnt incense on the high places.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And in the eleventh year of Ambri Josaphat the son of Asa reigns, [being] thirty-five years old in the beginning of his reign, and he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name [was] Gazuba, daughter of Seli.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And they hearkened to the word of the Lord, and they ceased from going up, according to the word of the Lord.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And it came to pass at the beginning of the year, that Roboam gathered all the men of Juda and Benjamin, and went up to fight with Jeroboam at Sikima.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And all the people were dispersed from Sikima, and they departed every one to his tent: and Roboam strengthened himself and departed, and mounted his chariot, and entered into Jerusalem: and there follow him the whole tribe of Juda, and the whole tribe of Benjamin.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and Roboam said, Bring in to me the elders, and I will take councel with them what I shall answer to the people on the third day. So Roboam spoke in their ears, as the people sent to him [to say]: and the elders of the people said, Thus the people have spoken to thee.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And the people said to Roboam the son of Solomon, Thy father made his yoke heavy upon us, and made the meat of his table heavy; and now thou shalt lighten them upon us, and we will serve thee. And Roboam said to the people, Wait three days, and I will return you an answer:
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And the woman arose, and took in her hand bread, and two cakes, and grapes, and a pot of honey, for Achia: and the man [was] old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
for thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will destroy every male of Jeroboam, and there shall be the dead of Jeroboam in the city, [them] the dogs shall eat, and him that has died in the field shall the birds of the air eat, and he shall lament for the child, [saying], Woe is [me], Lord! For there has been found in him some good thing touching the Lord.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Now there was a man in Selom, and his name [was] Achia: and he was sixty years old, and the word of the Lord [was] with him. And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, and take in thine hand loaves for the man of God, and cakes for his children, and grapes, and a pot of honey.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And Jeroboam heard in Egypt that Solomon was dead; and he spoke in the ears of Susakim king of Egypt, saying, Let me go, and I will depart into my land; and Susakim said to him, Ask any request, and I will grant it thee.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And Susakim gave to Jeroboam Ano the eldest sister of Thekemina his wife, to be his wife: she was great among the daughters of the king, and she bore to Jeroboam Abia his son:
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
nd Jeroboam said to Susakim, Let me indeed go, and I will depart. And Jeroboam departed out of Eqypt, and came into the land of Sarira that was in mount Ephraim, and thither the whole tribe of Ephraim assembles, and Jeroboam built a fortress there.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And his young child was sick with a very severe sickness; and Jeroboam went to enquire concerning the child: and he said to Ano his wife, Arise, go enquire of God concerning the child, whether he shall recover from his sickness.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And Solomon sought to kill him; and he was afraid, and escaped to Susakim king of Egypt, and was with him until Solomon died.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Then spoke Solomon concerning the house, when he had finished building it - He manifested the sun in the heaven: the Lord said he would dwell in darkness: build thou my house, a beautiful house for thyself to dwell in anew. Behold, is not this written in the book of the song?
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And [there were made] the porches, and the nails, and the bowls, and the spoons, and the golden censers, of pure gold: and the panels of the doors of the innermost part of the house, [even] the holy of holies, and the golden doors of the temple.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And they prepared the stones and the timber [during] three years.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
wide [enough] for the bars, so as to bear the altar with them.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
He made the pins of the tabernacle and the pins of the court of brass.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And they put the two golden rings on both the [upper] corners of the oracle;
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And they put them on the two circlets, and they put them on the shoulders of the ephod opposite [each other] in front.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and the emerald stones,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and the incense, and the anointing oil,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
These are thy gods, O Israel, who brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And Pharao hardened his heart, even on this occasion, and he would not send the people away.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
so Solomon the son of David reigned over Israel and Juda in Jerusalem.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And he reigned over all the kings from the river and the land of the Philistines, and to the borders of Egypt:
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And Solomon had forty thousand brood mares for his chariots, and twelve thousand horses.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and he was at peace on all sides round about; and Juda and Israel dwelt safely, every one under his vine and under his fig tree, eating and drinking and feasting, from Dan even to Bersabee, all the days of Solomon.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
For he ruled in all the country on this side of the river, from Raphi unto Gaza, over all the kings on this side of the river:
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and he built Thermae in the wilderness.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And this was the daily provision of Solomon, thirty measures of fine flour, and sixty measures of ground meal, ten choice calves, and twenty oxen from the pastures, and a hundred sheep, besides stags, and does, and choice fed birds.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And Solomon began to open the domains of Libanus,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And king Solomon was very prudent and wise: and Juda and Israel [were] very many, as the sand which is by the sea for multitude, eating, and drinking, and rejoicing:
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and Solomon was chief in all the kingdoms, and they brought gifts, and served Solomon all the days of his life.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and he came down to meet me at Jordan, and I swore to him by the Lord, saying, He shall not be slain with the sword.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
But now do not thou hold him guiltless, for thou [art] a man of understanding, and thou wilt know what thou shalt do to him, and thou shalt bring down his grey hairs with blood to the grave.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
he cursed me with a greivous curse in the day when I went into the camp;
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And when David was yet living, he charged Solomon, saying, Behold, [there is] with thee Samei the son of Gera, of the seed of Benjamin out of Chebron:
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and Solomon offered up three whole burnt-offerings in the year, and peace-offerings on the alter which he built to the Lord, and he burnt incense before the Lord, and finished the house.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And these [are] the chief persons who presided over the works of Solomon; three thousand and six hundred masters of the people that wrought the works.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And he built Assur, and Magdo, and Gazer, and upper Baethoron, and Ballath:
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
only after he had built the house of the Lord, and the wall of Jerusalem round about, afterwards he built these cities.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
thus the daughter of Pharao went up out of the city of David to her house which he built for her. Then he built the citadel;
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and Solomon made the sea, and the bases, and the great lavers, and the pillers, and the fountain of the court, and the brazen sea - and he built the citadel as a defence above it, he made a breach in the wall of the city of David;
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and the Lord gave understanding to Solomon, and very much wisdom, and largeness of heart, as the sand by the sea-shore.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And the wisdom of Solomon abounded exceedingly beyond the wisdom of all the ancients, and beyond all the wise men of Egypt;
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and he took the daighter of Pharao, and brought her into the city of David, until he had finished building his own house, and of the house of the Lord first, and the wall of Jerusalem round about. In seven years he made and finished them.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And Solomon had seventy thousand bearers of burdens, and eighty thousand hewers of stone in the mountain:
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and thou thyself sittest down to spend the nights in the open air among the corruption of worms,

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and I am a wanderer and a servant from place to place and house to house,
waiting for the setting of the sun,
that I may rest from my labours and my pangs which now beset me;
but say some word against the Lord,
and die.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
for, behold, thy memorial is abolished from the earth,
[even your] sons and daughters,
the pangs and pains of my womb which I bore in vain with sorrows;

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Behold, I wait yet a little while,
expecting the hope of my deliverance?

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and for the innocent blood which Joakim shed, for he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; yet the Lord would not utterly destroy them.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Nevertheless the wrath of the Lord was upon Juda, so that they should be removed from his presence, because of the sins of Manasses in all that he did,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And the Lord sent against them the Chaldeans, and plundering parties of Syrians, and plundering parties of the Moabites, and of the children of Ammon, and of Samaria; but after this they departed, according to the word of the Lord by the hand of his servants the prophets.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
In his days came Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon into the land, and he served him three years, and [then] revolted from him.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
but [he] had given the silver and gold to Pharao. At that time the land began to be taxed to give the money at the command of Pharao; and every one as he could borrowed the silver and the gold of the people of the land, to give to Pharao Nechao.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and his mother's name was Amital, daughter of Jeremias of Lobna.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his fathers had done.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And Pharao Nechao bound him in Deblatha in the land of Aemath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and the Lord said, I will even remove Juda also from my presence, as I have removed Israel, and I have rejected the city which I chose, [even] Jerusalem, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Nevertheless the Lord turned not from the anger of his fierce wrath, wherewith the Lord was greatly angry against Juda, for all the provocations wherewith Manasses provoked him:
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
There was no [king] like him before him, who turned to the Lord with all his heart, and all his soul, and all his strength, according to all the law of Moses, and after him there rose up none like him.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And king Josias burnt those who had in them a divining spirit, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and the sodomites which were in the land of Juda and in Jerusalem, that he might confirm the words of the law that were written in the book which Chelcias the priest found in the house of the Lord.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and Joshua built the city, and dwelt in it:
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and Joshua took the knives of stone, wherewith he circumcised the children of Israel that were born in the desert by the way, and put them in Thamnasachar.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and Joshua ceased dividing the land by their borders:
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and the children of Israel gave a portion to Joshua because of the commandment of the Lord: they gave him the city which he asked: they gave him Thamnasachar in mount Ephraim;
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and it is written that he will rise again with those whom the Lord raises up.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
This man is described in the Syriac book [as] living in the land of Ausis, on the borders of Idumea and Arabia:
and his name before was Jobab;

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and having taken an Arabian wife, he begot a son whose name was Ennon.
And he himself was the son of his father Zare, one of the sons of Esau, and of his mother Bosorrha, so that he was the fifth from Abraam.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And [his] friends who came to him were Eliphaz, of the children of Esau, king of the Thaemanites, Baldad sovereign of the Sauchaeans, Sophar king of the Minaeans.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
The beginning of a good way is to do justly;
and it is more acceptable with God than to offer sacrifices.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
All of the works of the Lord [are done] with righteousness;
and the ungodly [man] is kept for the evil day.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
A son that keeps the commandment shall escape destruction;
for [such an one] has fully received it.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Let no falsehood be spoken by the king from the tongue;
yes, let no falsehood proceed from his tongue.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
The king's tongue is a sword, and not one of flesh;
and whosoever shall be given up to [it] shall be destroyed:

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And these were the kings who reigned in Edom, which country he also ruled over:
first, Balac, the son of Beor, and the name of his city was Dennaba:
but after Balac, Jobab, who is called Job:
and after him Asom, who was governor out of the country of Thaeman:
and after him Adad, the son of Barad, who destroyed Madiam in the plain of Moab;
and the name of his city was Gethaim.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
for if his wrath should be provoked, he destroys men with cords, and devours men's bones, and burns them up as a flame, so that they are not [even] fit to be eaten by the young eagles.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and burns them up as a flame, so that they are not [even] fit to be eaten by the young eagles.
[My] son, reverence my words, and receive them, and repent.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
So that He will distinguish between the righteous and the sinner,
[And] recompense the sinners for ever according to their deeds;

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And have mercy on the righteous, [delivering him] from the affliction of the sinner,
And recompensing the sinner for what he hath done to the righteous.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
For the Lord is good to them that call upon Him in patience,
Doing according to His mercy to His pious ones,
Establishing [them] at all times before Him in strength.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Blessed be the Lord for ever before His servants.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
He falleth - verily grievous is his fall - and riseth no more.
The destruction of the sinner is for ever,

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And he shall not be remembered, when the righteous is visited.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
This is the portion of sinners for ever.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
But they that fear the Lord shall rise to life eternal,
And their life [shall be] in the light of the Lord, and shall come to an end no more.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Blessed are they that fear the Lord in their flawlessness;
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
The Lord shall deliver them from guileful men and sinners,
And deliver us from every stumbling-block of the lawless [men].

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Let God destroy them that insolently work all unrighteousness,
For a great and mighty judge is the Lord our God in righteousness.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Let Your mercy, O Lord, be upon all them that love Thee.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Sufficient are moderate means with righteousness,
And hereby the blessing of the Lord [becomes] abundance with righteousness.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
They that fear the Lord rejoice in good [gifts],
And Your goodness is upon Israel in Your kingdom.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Blessed is the glory of the Lord
for He is our king.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
When his heart is at peace, he singeth to the name of his God,
And he entreateth the Lord for all his house.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And the Lord heareth the prayer of every one that feareth God,
And every request of the soul that hopes for Him doth the Lord accomplish.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Blessed is the Lord, who showeth mercy to those who love Him in sincerity.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
For Your faithfulness is with us.
And [though] we have stiffened our neck,
yet You are our chastener;

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Overlook us not, O our God,
lest the nations swallow us up, as though there were none to deliver.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
But You are our God from the beginning,
And upon Thee is our hope [set], O Lord;

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And we will not depart from Thee,
For good are Your judgments upon us.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Ours and our children's be Your good pleasure for ever;
O Lord our Saviour, we shall never more be moved.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
The Lord is worthy to be praised for His judgments with the mouth of His pious ones;
And blessed be Israel of the Lord for ever.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
He cleanseth from sins a soul when it maketh confession, when it maketh acknowledgement;
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
For shame is upon us and upon our faces on account of all these things.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And to whom doth He forgive sins, except to them that have sinned?
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
You blessest the righteous, and dost not reprove them for the sins that they have committed;
And Your goodness is upon them that sin, when they repent.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And, now, You are our God, and we the people whom You have loved:
Behold and show pity, O God of Israel, for we are Thine;
And remove not Your mercy from us, lest they assail us.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
For You didst choose the seed of Abraham before all the nations,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And didst set Your name upon us, O Lord,
And You will not reject [us] for ever.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
You made a covenant with our fathers concerning us;
And we hope in Thee, when our soul turneth [to Thee].

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
The mercy of the Lord be upon the house of Israel for ever and ever.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
The salvation of the Lord be upon the house of Israel to everlasting gladness!
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
The salvation of the Lord be upon Israel His servant for ever;
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And let the sinners perish together at the presence of the Lord;
But let the Lord's pious ones inherit the promises of the Lord.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
For sins shall lay waste the houses of sinners.
And sinners shall perish for ever in the day of the Lord's judgment,

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
When God visiteth the earth with His judgment.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
But they that fear the Lord shall find mercy therein,
And shall live by the compassion of their God;
But sinners shall perish for ever.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
This (will be) the majesty of the king of Israel whom God knoweth;
He will raise him up over the house of Israel to correct him.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
His words [shall be] more refined than costly gold, the choicest;
In the assemblies he will judge the peoples, the tribes of the sanctified.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
His words [shall be] like the words of the holy ones in the midst of sanctified peoples.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Blessed be they that shall be in those days,
In that they shall see the good fortune of Israel which God shall bring to pass in the gathering together of the tribes.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
May the Lord hasten His mercy upon Israel!
May He deliver us from the uncleanness of unholy enemies!
The Lord Himself is our king for ever and ever.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
In the fear of God [they pursue] their path every day,
From the day God created them and for evermore.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And they have erred not since the day He created them.
Since the generations of old they have not withdrawn from their path,
Unless God commanded them [so to do] by the command of His servants.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
If thou wouldest open the heaven, trembling will take hold upon the mountains from thee, and they shall melt,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Jesus Christ
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Father Almighty;
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
only begotten Son, Lord
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
we bless you,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
we worship you,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
we glorify you,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and we thank you,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
for your great glory.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Lord, King,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Heavenly God,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
to give knowledge of salvation to his people
in the forgiveness of their sins,

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
through the tender mercy of our God,
when the day shall dawn upon us from on high

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the way of peace.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
MORNING HYMN.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Glory to God in the highest,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and on earth peace,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
good will to man.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
We praise you,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
in holiness and righteousness before him
all the days of our life.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High;
for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways,

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
being delivered from the hand of our enemies,
might serve him without fear,

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
to perform the mercy promised to our fathers,
and to remember his holy covenant,

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
the oath which he swore to our father Abraham,
to grant us that we,

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and has raised up a horn of salvation for us
in the house of his servant David,

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
that we should be saved from our enemies,
and from the hand of all who hate us;

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from of old,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Blessed be the Lord God of Israel,
for he has visited and redeemed his people,

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and for glory to your people Israel.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
PRAYER OF ZECHARIAH.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
He has helped his servant Israel,
in remembrance of his mercy,

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
as he spoke to our fathers,
to Abraham and to his posterity for ever.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
PRAYER OF SIMEON.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Lord, now lettest you your servant depart in peace,
according to your word;

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
for mine eyes have seen your salvation
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
which you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
he has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent empty away.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And his mercy is on those who fear him
from generation to generation.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
He has shown strength with his arm,
he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts,

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
he has put down the mighty from their thrones,
and exalted those of low degree;

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
for he who is mighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his name.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
My soul magnifies the Lord,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
for he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden.
For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed;

Bless the Lord, all powers,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Bless the Lord, sun and moon,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Blessed are you in the firmament of heaven
and to be sung and glorified for ever.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Bless the Lord, all works of the Lord,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Bless the Lord, you heavens,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Bless the Lord, you angels of the Lord,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Blessed are you upon the throne of your kingdom
and to be extolled and highly exalted for ever.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
HYMN TO OUR FATHER.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Blessed are you, O Lord, God of our fathers,
and to be praised and highly exalted for ever; And blessed is your glorious, holy name
and to be highly praised and highly exalted for ever;

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Blessed are you in the temple of your holy glory
and to be extolled and highly glorified for ever.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Blessed are you, who sittest upon cherubim and look upon the deeps,
and to be praised and highly exalted for ever.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And now with all our heart we follow you,
we fear you and seek your face.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Do not put us to shame,
but deal with us in your forbearance
and in your abundant mercy.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Deliver us in accordance with your marvelous works,
and give glory to your name, O Lord!
Let all who do harm to your servants be put to shame;

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
let them be disgraced and deprived of all power and dominion, and let their strength be broken.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Let them know that you are the Lord, the only God,
glorious over the whole world.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Yet with a contrite heart and a humble spirit may we be accepted,
as though it were with burnt offerings of rams and bulls,
and with tens of thousands of fat lambs;

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
such may our sacrifice be in your sight this day,
and may we wholly follow you,
for there will be no shame for those who trust in you.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
You have given us into the hands of lawless enemies, most hateful rebels,
and to an unjust king, the most wicked in all the world.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And now we cannot open our mouths;
shame and disgrace have befallen your servants and worshipers.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
For your name's sake do not give us up utterly,
and do not break your covenant,

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and do not withdraw your mercy from us,
for the sake of Abraham your beloved
and for the sake of Isaac your servant
and Israel your holy one,

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
to whom you didst promise
to make their descendants as many as the stars of heaven
and as the sand on the shore of the sea.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
For we, O Lord, have become fewer than any nation,
and are brought low this day in all the world because of our sins.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And at this time there is no prince,
or prophet, or leader, no burnt offering,
or sacrifice, or oblation, or incense,
no place to make an offering before you
or to find mercy.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
So all that you have brought upon us,
and all that you have done to us,
you have done in true judgment.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
we have not observed them or done them,
as you have commanded us that it might go well with us.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
For you are just in all that you have done to us,
and all your works are true
and your ways right,
and all your judgments are truth.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
You have executed true judgments
in all that you have brought upon us
and upon Jerusalem, the holy city of our fathers,
for in truth and justice you have brought all this upon us because of our sins.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
For we have sinfully and lawlessly departed from you,
and have sinned in all things
and have not obeyed your commandments;

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
PRAYER OF AZARIAH.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Blessed are you, O Lord, God of our fathers,
and worthy of praise; and your name is glorified for ever.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
PRAYER OF MANASSE.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and I will not cease blessing you with the psaltery all the days of my life before the house of God.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
For they that are in the grave shall not praise you,
neither shall the dead bless you,
neither shall they that are in Hades hope for your mercy.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
The living shall bless you, as I also [do]:
for from this day shall I beget children, who shall declare your righteousness,
O God of my salvation;

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and removed the sorrow of my soul.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
[Yea], O Lord, for it was told you concerning this;
and you have revived my breath;
and I am comforted, and live.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
For you have chosen my soul, that it should not perish:
and you have cast all [my] sins behind me.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
As a swallow, so will I cry,
and as a dove, so do I mourn:
for mine eyes have failed with looking to the height of heaven to the Lord, who has delivered me,

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
[My life] has failed from among my kindred:
I have parted with the remainder of my life:
it has gone forth and departed from me,
as one that having pitched a tent takes it down [again]:
my breath was with me as a weaver's web,
when she that weaves draws nigh to cut off [the] thread.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
In that day I was given up as to a lion until the morning:
so has he broken all my bones:
for I was so given up from day [even] to night.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
I said, I shall no more at all see the salvation of God in the land of the living:
I shall no more at all see the salvation of Israel on the earth:
I shall no more at all see man.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
PRAYER OF HEZEKIAH.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
I said in the end of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave:
I shall part with the remainder of my years.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
yet I will exult in the Lord,
I will joy in God my Saviour.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
The Lord God is my strength,
and he will perfectly strengthen my feet;
he mounts me upon high places,
that I may conquer by his song.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
For [though] the fig-tree shall bear no fruit,
and there shall be no produce on the vines;
the labour of the olive shall fail,
and the fields shall produce no food:
the sheep have failed from the pasture,
and there are no oxen at the cribs;

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
I watched, and my belly trembled at the sound of the prayer of my lips,
and trembling entered into my bones,
and my frame was troubled within me;
I will rest in the day of affliction,
from going up to the people of my sojourning.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And you dost cause your horses to enter the sea, disturbing much water.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
You didst cut asunder the heads of princes with amazement, they shall tremble in it;
they shall burst their bridles, [they shall be] as a poor man devouring in secret.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
You went forth for the salvation of your people, to save your anointed:
you shall bring death on the heads of transgressors;
you has brought bands upon [their] neck.
Pause.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
The sun was exalted, and the moon stood still in her course:
your darts shall go forth at the light,
at the brightness of the gleaming of your arms.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
You will bring low the land with threatening,
and in wrath you will break down the nations.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Was you angry, O Lord, with the rivers?
or [was] your wrath against the rivers,
or your anger against the sea?
for you will mount on your horses,
and your chariots are salvation.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Surely you didst bend they bow at scepters, says the Lord.
Pause.
The land of rivers shall be torn asunder.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
The nations shall see you and be in pain,
[as you dost] divide the moving waters:
the deep uttered her voice,
and raised her form on high.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Because of troubles I looked upon the tents of the Ethiopians:
the tabernacles also of the land of Madiam shall be dismayed.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Before his face shall go a report,
and it shall go forth into the plains,

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
the earth stood at his feet and trembled:
he beheld, and the nations melted away:
the mountains were violently burst through,
the everlasting hills melted at his everlasting going forth.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And his brightness shall be as light;
[there were] horns in his hands,
and he caused a mighty love of his strength.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
God shall come from Thaeman,
and the Holy One from the dark shady mount Pharan.
Pause.
His excellence covered the heavens,
and the earth was full of his praise.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
PRAYER OF HABAKKUK.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
O Lord, I have heard your report, and was afraid:
I considered your works, and was amazed:
you shall be known between the two living creatures,
you shall be acknowledged when the years draw nigh;
you shall be manifested when the time is come;
when my soul is troubled, you will in wrath remember mercy.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
When my soul was failing me, I remembered the Lord;
and may my prayer come to you into your holy temple.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
But I will sacrifice to you with the voice of praise and thanksgiving:
all that I have vowed I will pay to you, the Lord of [my] salvation.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
They that observe vanities and lies have forsaken their own mercy.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
I went down into the earth, whose bars are the everlasting barriers:
yet, O Lord my God, let my ruined life be restored.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Water was poured around me to the soul:
the lowest deep compassed me,
my head went down to the clefts of the mountains;

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
You didst cast me into the depths of the heart of the sea,
and the floods compassed me:
all your billows and your waves have passed upon me.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And I said, I am cast out of your presence:
shall I indeed look again toward your holy temple?

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
PRAYER OF JONAH.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and said, I cried in my affliction to the Lord my God,
and he listened to me, [even] to my cry out of the belly of hell:
you heard my voice.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Go, my people, enter into your closets,
shut your door, hide yourself for a little season,
until the anger of the Lord have passed away.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
The dead shall rise, and they that are in the tombs shall be raised,
and they that are in the earth shall rejoice:
for the dew from you is healing to them:
but the land of the ungodly shall perish.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And as a woman in travail draws nigh to be delivered, [and] cries out in her pain;
so have we been to your beloved.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
We have conceived, O Lord, because of your fear, and have been in pain,
and have brought forth the breath of your salvation, which we have wrought upon the earth:
we shall not fall, but all that dwell upon the land shall fall.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Bring more evils upon them, O Lord;
bring more evils on the glorious ones of the earth.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Lord, in affliction I remembered you;
your chastening was to us with small affliction.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
O Lord our God, give us peace:
for you have rendered to us all things.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
O Lord our God, take possession of us:
O Lord, we know not [any] other beside you: we name your name.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
But he dead shall not see life,
neither shall physicians by any means raise [them] up:
therefore you have brought [wrath] upon [them], and slain [them], and have taken away every male of them.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
O Lord, your arm is exalted, yet they knew it not:
but when they know they shall be ashamed:
jealously shall seize upon an untaught nation, and now fire shall devour the adversaries.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
PRAYER OF ISAIAH.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
which our soul longs for: my spirit seeks you very early in the morning, O God,
for your commandments are a light on the earth:
learn righteousness, you that dwell upon the earth.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
For the ungodly one is put down:
no one who will not learn righteousness on the earth, shall be able to do the truth:
let the ungodly be taken away, that he see not the glory of the Lord.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
For these things have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Woe [to them] that join house to house,
and add field to field, that they may take away something of their neighbor's:
will you dwell alone upon the land?

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And I will forsake my vineyard; and it shall not be pruned, nor dug,
and thorns shall come up upon it as on barren land;
and I will command the clouds to rain no rain upon it.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel,
and the men of Juda [his] beloved plant:
I expected [it] to bring forth judgement, and it brought forth iniquity;
and not righteousness, but a cry.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
What shall I do any more to my vineyard, that I have not done to it?
Whereas I expected [it] to bring forth grapes, but it has brought forth thorns.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And now I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard:
I will take away its hedge, and it shall be for a spoil;
and I will pull down its walls, and it shall be [left] to be trodden down.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And now, you dwellers in Jerusalem, and [every] man of Juda,
judge between me and my vineyard.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And I made a hedge round it, and dug a trench,
and planted a choice vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and dug a place for the wine-vat in it:
and I waited [for it] to bring forth grapes, and it brought forth thorns.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
SONG OF ISAIAH.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Now I will sing to [my] beloved a song of my beloved concerning my vineyard.
[My] beloved had a vineyard on a high hill in a fertile place.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
granting his petition to him that prays;
and he blesses the years of the righteous,
for by strength cannot man prevail.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
The Lord will weaken his adversary;
the Lord [is] holy.
Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom,
nor let the mighty man boast in his strength,
and let not the rich man boast in his wealth;
but let him that boasts boast in this,
to understand and know the Lord,
and to execute judgement and justice in the midst of the earth.
The Lord has gone up to the heavens, and has thundered:
he will judge the extremities of the earth,
and he gives strength to our kings,
and will exalt the horn of his Christ.
And she left him there before the Lord,

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
He lifts up the poor from the earth,
and raises the needy from the dunghill;
to seat him with the princes of the people,
and causing them to inherit the throne of glory:

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
The Lord makes poor, and makes rich;
he brings low, and lifts up.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
The Lord kills and makes alive;
he brings down to the grave, and brings up.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
The bow of the mighty has waxed feeble,
and the weak have girded themselves with strength.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
They that were full of bread are brought low;
and the hungry have forsaken the land;
for the barren has born seven,
and she that abounded in children has waxed feeble.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Boast not, and utter not high things;
let not high-sounding words come out of your mouth,
for the Lord [is] a God of knowledge,
and God prepares his own designs.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
My heart is established in the Lord,
my horn is exalted in my God;
my mouth is enlarged over my enemies,
I have rejoiced in your salvation.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
For there is none holy as the Lord,
and there is none righteous as our God;
there is none holy besides you.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
PRAYER OF HANNA THE MOTHER OF SAMUEL.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Rejoice, you heavens, with him,
and let all the angels of God worship him;
rejoice you Gentiles, with his people,
and let all the sons of God strengthen themselves in him;
for he will avenge the blood of his sons,
and he will render vengeance, and recompense justice to his enemies,
and will reward them that hate him;
and the Lord shall purge the land of his people.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
I will make my weapons drunk with blood,
and my sword shall devour flesh,
[it shall glut itself] with the blood of the wounded,
and from the captivity of the heads of [their] enemies that rule over them.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
For I will sharpen my sword like lightning,
and my hand shall take hold of judgment;
and I will render judgment to my enemies,
and will recompense them that hate me.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
For I will lift up my hand to heaven,
and swear by my right hand,
and I will say, I live for ever.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Behold, behold that I am [he],
and there is no god beside me:
I kill, and I will make to live:
I will smite, and I will heal;
and there is none who shall deliver out of my hands.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
the fat of whose sacrifices you ate,
and you drank the wine of their drink-offerings?
let them arise and help you,
and be your protectors.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and the Lord said, Where are their gods
on whom they trusted?

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
For the Lord shall judge his people,
and shall be comforted over his servants;
for he saw that they were utterly weakened,
and failed in the hostile invasion, and were become feeble:

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
In the day of vengeance I will recompense,
whenever their foot shall be tripped up;
for the day of their destruction [is] near to them,
and the judgments at hand are close upon you.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Lo! are not these things stored up by me,
and sealed among my treasures?

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Their wine [is] the rage of serpents,
and the incurable rage of asps.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
For their vine [is] of the vine of Sodom,
and their vine-branch of Gomorrha:
their grape [is] a grape of gall,
their cluster [is] one of bitterness.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
For their gods are not as our God,
but our enemies [are] void of understanding.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
How should one pursue a thousand,
and two rout tens of thousands,
if God had not sold them,
and the Lord delivered them up?

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
They had not sense to understand:
let them reserve these things against the time to come.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
It is a nation that has lost counsel,
neither is there understanding in them.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Were it not for the wrath of the enemy, lest they should live long,
lest their enemies should combine against them;
lest they should say, Our own high arm,
and not the Lord, has done all these things.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
I said, I will scatter them,
and I will cause their memorial to cease from among men.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Without, the sword shall bereave them of children,
and terror [shall issue] out of the secret chambers;
the young man shall perish with the virgin,
the suckling with him who has grown old.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
[They shall be] consumed with hunger and the devouring of birds,
and there shall be irremediable destruction:
I will send forth against them the teeth of wild beasts,
with the rage of [serpents] creeping on the ground.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
I will gather evils upon them,
and will fight with my weapons against them.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
For a fire has been kindled out of my wrath,
it shall burn to hell below;
it shall devour the land, and the fruits of it;
it shall set on fire the foundations of the mountains.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
They have provoked me to jealousy with [that which is] not God,
they have exasperated me with their idols;
and I will provoke them to jealousy with them that are no nation,
I will anger them with a nation void of understanding.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and said, I will turn away my face from them,
and will show what shall happen to them in the last days;
for it is a perverse generation,
sons in whom is no faith.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And the Lord saw, and was jealous;
and was provoked by the anger of his sons and daughters,

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
You have forsaken God that begot you,
and forgotten God who feeds you.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
They sacrificed to devils, and not to God;
to gods whom they knew not:
new and fresh [gods] came in,
whom their fathers knew not.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
They provoked me to anger with strange gods;
with their abominations they bitterly angered me.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
So Jacob ate and was filled,
and the beloved one kicked;
he grew fat, he became thick and broad:
then he forsook the God that made him,
and departed from God his Saviour.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Butter of cows, and milk of sheep,
with the fat of lambs and rams,
of calves and kids,
with fat of kidneys of wheat;
and he drank wine, the blood of the grape.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
He brought them up on the strength of the land;
he fed them with the fruits of the fields;
they sucked honey out of the rock,
and oil out of the solid rock.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
the Lord alone led them,
there was no strange god with them.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
As an eagle would watch over his brood,
and yearns over his young,
receives them having spread his wings,
and takes them up on his back:

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
He maintained him in the wilderness,
in burning thirst and a dry land:
he led him about and instructed him,
and kept him as the apple of an eye.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And his people Jacob became the portion of the Lord,
Israel was the line of his inheritance.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
When the Most High divided the nations,
when he separated the sons of Adam,
he set the bounds of the nations
according to the number of the angels of God.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Remember the days of old,
consider the years for past ages:
ask your father, and he shall relate to you,
your elders, and they shall tell you.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Do you thus recompense the Lord?
[is the] people thus foolish and unwise?
did not he himself your father purchase you,
and make you,
and form you?

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
They have sinned, not [pleasing] him;
spotted children, a froward and perverse generation.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
[As for God], his works [are] true,
and all his ways [are] judgment:
God [is] faithful,
and there is no unrighteousness [in him];
just and holy [is] the Lord.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
For I have called on the name of the Lord:
assign you greatness to our God.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Let my speech be looked for as the rain,
and my words come down as dew,
as the shower upon the herbage,
and as snow upon the grass.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Attend, O heaven, and I will speak;
and let the earth hear the words out of my mouth.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
SONG OF MOSES IN DEUTERONOMY.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
For the horse of Pharao went in with the chariots and horsemen into the sea,
and the Lord brought upon them the water of the sea,
but the children of Israel walked through dry land in the midst of the sea.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
The Lord reigns for ever and ever and ever.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Bring them in and plant them in the mountain of their inheritance,
in your prepared habitation,
which you, O Lord, have prepared;
the sanctuary, O Lord, which your hands have made ready.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Let trembling and fear fall upon them;
by the greatness of your arm, let them become as stone;
till your people pass over, O Lord,
till this your people pass over, whom you have purchased.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Then the princes of Edom,
and the chiefs of the Moabites hasted;
trembling took hold upon them,
all the inhabitants of Chanaan melted away.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
The nations heard and were angry,
pangs have seized on the dwellers among the Phylistines.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
You have guided in your righteousness this your people whom you have redeemed,
by your strength you have called them into your holy resting-place.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
You stretched forth your right hand,
the earth swallowed them up.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Who is like to you among the gods, O Lord? who is like to you?
glorified in holiness, marvelous in glories, doing wonders.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
You sent forth your wind, the sea covered them;
they sank like lead in the mighty water.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
The enemy said, I will pursue,
I will overtake, I will divide the spoils;
I will satisfy my soul,
I will destroy with my sword, my hand shall have dominion.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And by the breath of your anger the water parted asunder;
the waters were congealed as a wall, the waves were congealed in the midst of the sea.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
And in the abundance of your glory you have broken the adversaries to pieces:
you sent forth your wrath, it devoured them as stubble.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Your right hand, O God, has been glorified in strength;
thy right hand, O God, has broken the enemies.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
He covered them with the sea:
they sank to the depth like a stone.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
He has cast the chariots of Pharao and his host into the sea,
the chosen mounted captains:
they were swallowed up in the Red Sea.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
The Lord bringing wars to nought,
the Lord [is] his name.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
He was to me a helper and protector for salvation:
this is my God and I will glorify him;
my father's God, and I will exalt him.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Let us sing to the Lord, for he is very greatly glorified:
horse and rider he has thrown into the sea.

28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
SONG OF MOSES IN EXODUS.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Lord God,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
the Lamb of God,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
the Son of the Father
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
who take away the sin of the world,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
have mercy on us,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
who take away the sins of the world.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Accept our supplication,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
you who sit at the right of the Father,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
have mercy on us.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
For you are the only Holy One,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
you are the only Lord,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Jesus Christ,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
to the glory of God the Father. Amen.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Every evening I shall bless you,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and I shall praise your name forever,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and to the centuries of centuries.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Grant, O Lord, that in this night
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
we may be kept without sin.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Blessed are you, O Lord, the God of our Fathers,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
and praised and glorified is your name to the ages. Amen.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Blessed are you, O Lord, teach me your rules of life.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Blessed are you, O Lord, teach me your rules of life.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Blessed are you, O Lord, teach me your rules of life.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Lord, you have become for us a refuge from generation to generation.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
I have said: Lord, have mercy on me,
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
heal my soul for I have sinned against you.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Lord, to you I have fled;
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
teach me to do your will for you are my God.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
For with you is the fountain of life;.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
in your light we shall see light.
28bἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος;
Extend your mercy to those who know you.
And though one should understand the outspreadings of the clouds,
[or] the measure of his tabernacle;
 Can any one understand the spreading of the clouds,
the thunderings of his pavilion?
behold he will stretch his bow against him,
and he covers the bottom of the sea.
 Behold, he scatters his lightning about him,
and covers the roots of the sea.
For by them he will judge the nations:
he will give food to him that has strength.
 For by these he judges peoples;
he gives food in abundance.
He has hidden the light in [his] hands,
and given charge concerning it to the interposing [cloud].
 He covers his hands with the lightning,
and commands it to strike the mark.
The Lord will declare concerning this [to] his friend:
[but there is] a portion also for unrighteousness.
 Its crashing declares concerning him,
who is jealous with anger against iniquity.
