Ecbatana

ECBATANA - The capital of Media (in Old Persian Haghmatana), modern Hamadan. The Aramaic form of the name is Achmetha (AV, RV in Ezr.6.2). It is mentioned but once in the canonical books as the place where the archives of the reign of Cyrus were deposited .Ezr.6.2), but it stands several times in the Apocrypha (2 Mac.9.3, To.3.7, 6.5, 7.1f, 14.13f, Jth.1.1f, 14).
