Chorazin

Chorazin Synagogue

CHORAZIN - Mentioned only in the woe pronounced by Jesus (Mt.11.21, Lk.10.13). The name survives at the ruins of Kerazeh, N. of Capernaum. Here there are remains of a synagogue of the 3rd cent. AD, probably standing on the site of the one which Jesus may have visited. Of particular interest is a cathedra Mosis (Mt.23.2) bearing an inscription in Aramaic honouring the man who had paid for the portico and stairway.
