Lindisfarne Gospels - 8th century.

In the British Library, Cotton MS Nero D IV.

Written in honour of St. Cuthbert (d. 687) and illuminated in the finest style of the Northumbrian Anglo-Celtic school. Contains the Gospels, with interlinear Anglo-Saxon translation added in the 9th century.

This is folio 34v which is from Matthew's Gospel. The setting is the Sermon on the Mount. Folio 34 v continues from folio 34r with the Beatitudes. The page ends part-way through chapter 5 verse 10.
